We’re Crying With You, Illenium…

First off, a special shout out to Illenium for pouring his heart and soul into his new single ‘Take You Down.’ The song that was released earlier this morning is a touching tribute to his mother, despite all of the trials he dealt with in his life. Take You Down by Illenium takes you on an emotional journey that you will only recognize if you listen to it. Here’s a little background on the single and why it means so much to us.

‘Take You Down’ By Illenium: A Journey That We Can All Relate To

We’re all crying together. Take You Down by Illenium is nothing compared to Gold, which was released about two weeks ago. This song will eat you up and spit you out cause everyone has been through a low point in their lives. A point to where the last thing they want to do is bring someone down with them. It’s suffocating, scary and leaves you isolated. The song strikes a nerve in each and every one of us because we have all been there. Whether substance abuse, heartbreak or losing someone close, everyone has hit rock bottom.

Illenium has a special bond with his fans and has listened to their stories. He has been moved with those stories and has waited a while to tell his story.

Illenium Opens Up To Fans About Battling Addiction And His Saving Light

It doesn’t come as a surprise that Illenium loves his fans. A lot of the Illenial community has moved most of us in the rave community. Nick really captures the essence of loss, heartbreak, and liberation in the melodic bass realm. It was not until today we realized there was another side of Illenium; he’s just like us.

Illenium opened up to all of his fans the in a heartfelt letter. In the letter, it starts out explaining how many stories he’s seen through his fans. Whether they were dealing with loss, drugs, heartbreak, if you didn’t think he took notice, think again. He opened up and spoke about how he battled with addiction and overdosed on heroin six years ago. He also explains how it was a struggle for him ever since a young age and music is what got him out of that state of no motivation and loss hope. Also, that his sole purpose of making music is to help people overcome their struggles.

He dedicates ‘Take You Down’ to his mother, who always stood by his side and never gave up on him. It’s an emotional letter because we never know what someone is going through. For Illenum to come out and open up to his fans was something truly remarkable.

How Much Take You Down By Illenium Means To His Fans, The Illenials

All throughout the morning, I’ve seen Illenials giving all their love and support to Illenium. Some, are even sharing their stories. There are a countless amount of people who feel the same way and the Illenial community is one of the most accepting, loving and supportive groups I’ve ever seen. Here are some tweets that I’ve seen that touched my soul.

I have had on and off problem with meth as well as drinking. I fell in love with sounds April of 2017 at my first camping fest and I haven’t looked back since. I finally found the courage to get myself out of an abusive relationship by moving states and started to work on healing, going to all the shows I could. I was doing really well but some days were so much harder than others… I’ve been having these feelings of being tired of being ashamed about and hiding my history of drug use and trying to be more open about it even though it’s a really huge thing to tell people. Nick made me realize that no matter my struggles, I f*ckin got this. – Bailee B

No matter how many times I hear Take You Down by @ILLENIUMMUSIC the part “You need to let it go now Before you drown I know that you won’t understand But you need to let go of these hands ‘Cause I’m going down And I don’t wanna take you down with me” I can’t stop crying

“So when heard the new Illenium song it touched a part of my heart in which I related to, in my case, I used to deal with a life of family issues that lead to depression for me, I tried so hard to do anything to feel happy with life again but it was difficult, I stayed quiet because I didn’t want to make anyone else feel down like I was. At one point I had such a dark thought, I thought of taking my own life, but I tried my hardest to keep it together. As of now I am thankful that music saved me in the summer of 2014, to this day it helps me through breakdowns. Illenium’s music though, it really makes me feel things I haven’t felt for a long time, and that song Take You Down just relates to me, even though I never been through an addiction, but the depression aspect of my life relates to the song because of how much it almost ruined my life, I could of ended it so early, but I told myself that I will find something and I was right, I found music and music to this day is my safe haven that healed the wounds I had from that dark times of my childhood. That song Take You Down, brought tears to my eyes and made me feel happy that I made it through and that I’m still here alive and well.”- Soriah S.
