Name and Surname TELENOR FOUNDATION ANNUAL REPORT ON BUSINESS OPERATIONS IN 2017 1 INTRODUCTION By initiating and supporting projects, in accordance with the strategic direction, Telenor Foundation contributes to the development of the society. All activities are realized in cooperation with partners, with the support of various teams. By contributing to the realization of the Goal 10 (#reducedinequalities), Telenor Foundation encourages the development of digital solutions aimed at overcoming of social challenges. The Foundation's activities are focused on education, social inclusion of socially vulnerable groups, culture and art, as well as environmental protection. The objectives of the Telenor Foundation are promoting positive aspects of the Internet and are setting norms that regulate behaviour in the digital environment and affect the reduction of digital bullying. They are focused on solving important social, educational, cultural and health problems at the national level, general ecological development, as well as problems caused by natural disasters. Partnerships are made with state institutions and non-profit organizations in accordance with the Statute procedures. All interested humanitarian organizations, non-governmental organizations, institutions and foundations registered in Serbia have the right to participate in the Open Call for Proposals. Open Calls are current twice a year. The competent team evaluates and selects the ideas received, which are than presented, according to clear criteria. The projects are submitted to the Board of Directors of Telenor Foundation, which at its session decides which ideas will be supported. All partners are obliged to submit a report on the course of the project and a detailed overview of its results. STRUCTURE OF THE BOARD OF DIRECTORS Management Board of Telenor Foundation has five members, out of which two are representatives of Company Telenor. Chairman of the Telenor Foundation Managing Board is Ingeborg Øfsthus, Chief Executive Officer of Telenor Serbia. Since 1998, Ingeborg has held several technology management positions in Telenor Operations in Germany, Thailand and Norway. In addition, she has worked in various Telenor Group positions, including establishing and leading Telenor Group CTO forum. She has been with Telenor Serbia since 2012, holding CTO position.Ingeborg has experience with starting two greenfield mobile operations, and has built up extensive experience across both network and IT domain in her various roles. Ingeborg holds a degree of Master of Science in Electronic Communications from the Norwegian University of Science and Technology (NTNU). Years of experience in a various countries added valuable knowledge on working across multiple cultures. Marija Vujanić, Communications and Sustainability Director, Telenor ltd. With more than 15 years of working in public relations and CR area, Marija is experienced communication leader. She has been with Telenor for 3 years, leading Corporate Communications and External Affairs Department. Prior these assignment, Marija was working for years as a Client Service Director at one of the leading PR agency in Serbia, than appointed as a PR and Citizenship Lead in Microsoft Serbia, and also was Executive Director of Ecotopia Fund focused on sustainability. Mr Darinka Radojević, Special Adviser to the Minister of Environmental Protection, has extensive experience in economy, education and coordination of multidisciplinary projects. Since 2007, she gained experience in the field of environment, sustainable development and 2 public sector reforms by working on several positions in the public sector, as the leader of the Group for Sustainable Development in the Cabinet of the Deputy Prime Minister for European Integration, as the Secretary of the Council for Sustainable Development, as the Vice President of the Government for Public Sector Reform and as the Acting Assistant Director of the Directorate for Electronic Administration. She was an associate of several civil society organizations in the preparation and realization of projects, seminars and trainings. She graduated and received a Master's degree at the Faculty of Technology and Metallurgy in Belgrade. Vladimir Bumbaširević, Rector of the University of Belgrade. Professor Bumbaširević́ is a full professor of the Faculty of Medicine of the University of Belgrade and as of 2009 member of the Serbian Academy of Sciences and Arts, member of different national and international medical associations, author of over 70 scientific papers, co-author and editor of 2 books and 3 monographs. Except in scientific work, the rich experience gained he applied in active participation in a large number of European projects (TEMPUS, FP6, etc.). Robert Čoban, President of the Color Press Group, started his journalistic career as Novi Sad correspondent of the Belgrade “Večernje novosti“; Zagreb “Arena“ and Sarajevo “Naši dani“. Today he is a head of Color Press Group, largest publisher of magazines in the region, with companies in all six republics - 64 magazines, 11 internet portals and over 50 conferences a year. The company portfolio includes numerous licensed names: “The Economist“, “Hello!“, “Brava Casa“, “Bravo“, “Alan Ford“, “Grazia“, “Jamie Oliver Magazine“ and number of others. Manager of Telenor Foundation is Milica Begenišić, Sustainability and Events Manager at Telenor ltd. While working in various sectors of the company, from 2001, when she entered the telecommunications industry, Milica gained rich experience. From customer service through marketing to corporate communications, she cooperated with a number of external associates and government institutions. Over the years, through the organization of corporate events she actively participated in the initiation and implementation of CR projects of Telenor and Telenor Foundation. FIELDS OF WORK All activities of Telenor Foundation are directed to 4 basic areas: • Youth, their education and professional advancement • Socially vulnerable groups • Development of cultural production and art market • Environmental protection Engagement of the Foundation is not related only to financial assistance, but also using capacities and knowledge, striving to contribute to the successful implementation of the project offering effective, sustainable and developmental solutions on the territory of Serbia. REVIEW OF THE PROJECT ACTIVITIES IN FIELDS OF WORK In 2017, Telenor Foundation initiated and supported 11 projects and cooperated with 12 partner organisations. 3 4.1 Project Activities and Achieved Results – Category Youth and Education “Improving Digital Literacy with ICT in Primary Schools in Serbia” In order to contribute to the improvement of the quality of education, Telenor Foundation, in cooperation with the Citizens Association "Jerinin grad" within the project “Improving Digital Literacy with ICT in Primary Schools in Serbia”, provided Coprix Interactive Dictionaries, as well as applications for learning Mathematics and English language, interactive boards and tablets for 10 primary schools in Serbia. The Interactive Dictionary is a multi-award-winning language learning system developed in partnership with experts from the Faculty of Philology and the Teacher Education Faculty. It combines the game-like app with touch-sensitive devices to teach children the letters of the alphabet, making them easy to memorize. The first graders got this opportunity to learn using modern technologies and digital pens, which enable the full development of graphmotor skills in a same way as when writing on paper. The idea of the project is to increase the number of trained teachers, because they are the most important in the process of transferring knowledge and using new technologies. Schools that received equipment and licenses thanks to the Telenor Foundation: „Sava Šumanović”, Zemun „Mihailo Petrovic Alas”, Beograd, opština Stari Grad „Sveti Sava”, Batočina „Vuk Karadžić”, Krivaja (Bačka Topola) „Milan Mijalković”, Jagodina „Učitelj Tasa”, Niš „Sveti Sava”, Kikinda „Bora Lazić”, Vlaška (Mladenovac) „Vuk Karadžić” Žitkovac (Aleksinac) „Dragiša Luković-Španac", Kragujevac Telenor Girls’ Day Wanting to contribute to raising awareness of gender equality since early childhood, 2017 saw another International Girls in ICT Day celebrated by the Association of Business Women in Serbia, supported by the Telenor Foundation. The realization of the project was marked trough encouragement of girls in being creative, think like a team, expressing themselves through familiar online technologies and presenting entrepreneurial ideas. The event included the Catch the Idea competition, which aimed to empower the girls when choosing their future careers, as well as encourage them to be guided by their own interests and talents in professional orientation. The finalists visited Telenor, talked with the women leaders at the company, and practiced presenting their ideas as effectively as possible in a workshop. The winners were the students of the Đura Jakšić primary school from Belgrade—Neda Kovačević, Maša Jović, and Tijana Petrović, and the Telenor Foundation rewarded them with smartphones. 4 “Prof. Dr Ilija Stojanović” Award For eleventh year in a row, the best graduates of the telecommunications department, the authors of the papers awarded at the TELFOR 2017 conference, and the authors of the best scientific paper published in an international journal were presented with the “Prof. Dr Ilija Stojanović” Awards.
