The 26-page memo, prepared by an outside risk management consultant, says that as recently as May last year, Uber’s Special Investigations Unit was handling hundreds of cases every week. The team — which was made up of 60 investigators and 15 team leaders at the time — was tasked with handling the most severe incidents reported to the company in North America, including verbal threats, physical and sexual assault, rape, theft and serious traffic accidents. Although the memo notes that the team members loved “being associated with a ‘hot’ brand” and its younger employee base, it also said conditions were so bad within the unit that the memo warned of mental health risks to the investigators — even the potential of suicide. “A single suicide by an Uber investigator who posts that they could not ‘take’ the job demands any longer will be fodder for the national if not international news media,” the memo said. 3 | Continuing story from pg. 2 Uber sent lengthy responses to CNN impression that we are unsafe and not information in the original complaint sent to promotions. "We control it on our end, and now it's up to you" -- Exploitation, Empowerment, and Ethical Portrayals of the Pornography Industry Abstract Documentaries about pornography are beginning to constitute an entirely new subgenre of film. Big Hollywood names like James Franco and Rashida Jones are jumping on the bandwagon, using their influence and resources to invest in a type of audiovisual knowledge production far less mainstream than that in which they usually participate. The films that have resulted from this new movement are undoubtedly persuasive, no matter which side of the debate over pornography these directors have respectively chosen to represent. Moreover, regardless of the side(s) that audience members may have taken in the so-called “feminist porn debates,” one cannot ignore the rhetorical strength of the arguments presented in a wide variety of documentaries about pornography.

www.influencefilmclub.com Hot Girls Wanted Discussion Guide Directors: Jill Bauer, Ronna Gradus Year: 2015 Time: 84 min You might know these directors from: Sexy Baby (2012) FILM SUMMARY Journalists Jill Bauer and Ronna Gradus met while working at “The Miami Herald,” and in their debut film, “Sexy Baby,” they address the effect the Internet has on female sexuality. Following this exposé, they set out to make a film on how men were handling the Internet’s depiction of sexuality. The more men they interviewed, the more the word “pro-am” was repeated. Men were clearly turned on by this professional-amateur field of Internet pornography, Bauer and Gradus began to turn their attention to the characters populating this trend. In HOT GIRLS WANTED, we are introduced to Stella May, Ava Taylor, Ava Kelly, Lucy Tyler, and Brooklyn Daniels, young women ranging from the ages of 18 to 25. Fresh off their first airplane ride, their first time in Miami they are feeling on top of their game. They feel the the world is at their feet and their future is bright. They trade in their given names, strip down in front of a camera, and perform scripted sex that often borders on abuse. For what? The promise of fame, money, and escape from the humdrum of daily life. “It’s a lot of money for a girl, so why not?” Brooklyn states. “It’s a boost of confidence to know that you’re wanted that much.” Raised in a world where a woman’s value is still largely based on appearance, Brooklyn reflects the innocence and insecurity behind these girls’ decisions.

  • This Generation a Shifter Will Arise, Hidden Amongst the Lost and Lies
“This generation a Shifter will arise, Hidden amongst the lost and lies. A great many will see The life that could be. The universe will shake; The greatest among us will quake. The towers will fall. The ruled will rule all.” Douglas and Angelia Pershing Prologue Rian growled when a small group of Shifters entered The Council chamber following Navin and Lena. Lena sauntered in, her hips swaying dangerously from side to side. Other than Rian, all eyes in the room were on her. Her long auburn hair was undulating behind her in a tight ponytail. Her green eyes were bright and cold. Her smirk revealed straight white teeth, poised and ready for the kill. “My Lord,” Lena said in her throaty alto. She bowed then, carefully positioning her body in the most flattering way. The new Seer on The Council, a small mousy man with flat brown eyes and little ability to see anything, gulped audibly as he watched Lena. “I am not a feudal lord,” Rian snapped at Lena. “Of course not,” Lena said, rising slowly, allowing the eyes in the room to linger on her lithe body. “You are my god.” Rian’s eyes flicked to her, somehow his copper eyes were both irritated and pleased. He then returned them to the piece of Shifter trash that had entered the room with her. His copper eyes flashed red for a brief moment, appearing more vibrant and cruel than any eyes before. “Navin,” he growled. It was almost as though when Rian ordered the deaths of the Shifter Young nearly 1 thirteen years ago, he had become less than human.

Abstract When Netflix launched in April 1998, Internet video was in its infancy. Eighteen years later, Netflix has developed into the first truly global Internet TV network. Many books have been written about the five broadcast networks – NBC, CBS, ABC, Fox, and the CW – and many about the major cable networks – HBO, CNN, MTV, Nickelodeon, just to name a few – and this is the fitting time to undertake a detailed analysis of how Netflix, as the preeminent Internet TV networks, has come to be. This book, then, combines historical, industrial, and textual analysis to investigate, contextualize, and historicize Netflix's development as an Internet TV network. The book is split into four chapters. The first explores the ways in which Netflix's development during its early years a DVD-by-mail company – 1998-2007, a period I am calling "Netflix as Rental Company" – lay the foundations for the company's future iterations and successes. During this period, Netflix adapted DVD distribution to the Internet, revolutionizing the way viewers receive, watch, and choose content, and built a brand reputation on consumer-centric innovation.

  • Danny the Champion of the World
Roald Dahl Danny the Champion of the World 1 The Filling-station When I was four months old, my mother died suddenly and my father was left to look after me all by himself. This is how I looked at the time. I had no brothers or sisters. So all through my boyhood, from the age of four months onward, there were just the two of us, my father and me. We lived in an old gipsy caravan behind a filling-station. My father owned the filling-station and the caravan and a small field behind, but that was about all he owned in the world. It was a very small filling-station on a small country road surrounded by fields and woody hills. While I was still a baby, my father washed me and fed me and changed my nappies and did all the millions of other things a mother normally does for her child. That is not an easy task for a man, especially when he has to earn his living at the same time by repairing motor-car engines and serving customers with petrol. But my father didn’t seem to mind. I think that all the love he had felt for my mother when she was alive he now lavished upon me. During my early years, I never had a moment’s unhappiness or illness and here I am on my fifth birthday. I was now a scruffy little boy as you can see, with grease and oil all over me, but that was because I spent all day in the workshop helping my father with the cars.

  • Production Notes
Production Notes ABOUT THE FILM Timed to the 50th anniversary of NASA’s celebrated Apollo 11 mission, Apollo 11: First Steps Edition is a thrilling cinematic experience that showcases the real-life moments of humankind’s first steps on the Moon. In this special giant screen edition of Todd Douglas Miller’s (Dinosaur 13) critically acclaimed Apollo 11 documentary, the filmmakers reconstruct the exhilarating final moments of preparation, liftoff, landing, and return of this historic mission—one of humanity’s greatest achievements, and the first to put humans on the Moon. It seems impossible, but this project was possible because of the discovery of a trove of never-before-seen 70mm footage and uncatalogued audio recordings—which allowed the filmmakers to create a 47-minute version of the film tailored exclusively for IMAX® and giant screen theaters in science centers and museums. Apollo 11: First Steps Edition is produced by Statement Pictures in partnership with CNN Films. The film is presented by Land Rover, and distributed by MacGillivray Freeman Films. “The Apollo 11 mission was humanity’s greatest adventure and we’re pleased to be bringing this edition to science centers and museums everywhere,” says director Todd Douglas Miller. “This film was designed to take full advantage of the immersive quality of IMAX and giant screen theaters.” But how did it happen? How did this one-in-a-lifetime batch of footage remain undiscovered for fifty years? Miller explains that as his team was working closely with NASA and the National Archives (NARA) to locate all known Apollo 11 footage, NARA staff members simply discovered reels upon reels of 70mm, large-format Apollo footage.

  • A Comprehensive Mental Health Crisis Plan Presented by Williamsville High School Keepers Club a Chapter of Jared’S Keepers Foundation, Inc
A Comprehensive Mental Health Crisis Plan Presented by Williamsville High School Keepers Club A chapter of Jared’s Keepers Foundation, Inc We the students at Williamsville High School, in cooperation with the faculty and staff, proudly present to the Williamsville School Board the following proposal to assist and support the growing needs of the students of our district. We have learned many valuable lessons in 2020 that must be addressed for a better future. This plan will ensure better communications in times of tragedy, allow for an aggressive approach to prevention, give better direction to faculty and staff while giving students stability in knowing what to expect, allow needed support in the aftermath and provide equal recognition to all who are lost. This plan focuses on preventing teen self-harming, suicide attempts and suicide completions. Our society has long ignored the mental health of its people that results in suicides, which are the leading cause of death among people ages 9-25, according to the World Health Organization. We have felt for too long that we were immune from this issue for many reasons. However, the recent losses of our peers have shown us we can no longer be silent and must take a stand and change the way we think and act towards mental health. According to the CDC, “Suicide is a critical public health problem in the United States. Despite national, state, and local efforts to reduce suicide, rates continue to increase. A forward-looking effort, built upon new evidence and past accomplishments, is needed to reduce suicide and suicide attempts.” The most common, yet most stigmatized, mental health issue is depression experienced by students due to a failing grade or failure to perform to standards of a sport or activity.

The posse comitatus can be traced back at least as far as the reign of Alfred the Great in ninth- century England. The institution thrives today in the United States; a study of Colorado finds many county sheriffs have active posses. Like the law of the posse comitatus, the law of the office of sheriff has been remarkably stable for over a millennium.
