During the quarter, Netflix also announced some high-profile cancellations:The Get Down (cancelled on May 24th) and Sense8 (cancelled on Jun 1st). Digital Original Series — Global Demand Report | Q2, 2017 Demand Over Time in the United States April 1st – June 30th, 2017 Released on March 31st, the most popular series in 9 of the 10 markets in this report was Netflix’s teen drama 13 Reasons Why. Unlike the typical all-episodes-at-once release schedules, which sees demand decline strongly in the first few weeks after release, demand for this show actually increased by 79%. This is likely because media outlets started extensively covering the show’s controversial subject matter, helping the show become a “must-see”. Q2 could well be called the “Quarter of breakout teen dramas” as NRK TV’s show Skam also breached the top 25 in 9 of the 10 markets. This is remarkable as the Norwegian show never received any official releases in other languages; instead, it appears that communities of fans around the world translated and shared each episode themselves. Hulu also gained a hit in the US, drama The Handmaid’s Tale was one of the biggest new shows this quarter with just 12% less demand than season 5 of the highly anticipated long-running Netflix comedy dramaOrange Is The New Black. Arriving on April 26th with a 3 episode premiere, followed by weekly episodes, the strong storyline and acting helped draw new viewers to The Handmaid’s Tale, which helped it finish the quarter with a finale that had 44% more demand than the premiere. The biggest event for Netflix’s sci-fi dramaSense8 came after its surprise cancellation on June 1st. The outcry from fans over this generated 39% more demand than the show’s Season 2 release on May 5th; the announcement of a two-hour special on June 29th also generated significant demand. 13 Reasons Why Skam Orange Is The New Black Sense8 The Handmaid’s Tale Apr 1 Jun 9 1 May 2 Jun 1 Apr 26 Weekly episodes Season released 1 Season 2 released 3 initial episodes commenced 2 ancelled released

It argues that this relationship is productive; that is, it locates the novel and new media within a tense, but symbiotic relationship. This requires an understanding of media relations that is ecological, rather than competitive. More precise, this dissertation investigates ways that the novel incorporates new media. The word “incorporate” refers both to embodiment and physical union.

"We control it on our end, and now it's up to you" -- Exploitation, Empowerment, and Ethical Portrayals of the Pornography Industry Abstract Documentaries about pornography are beginning to constitute an entirely new subgenre of film. Big Hollywood names like James Franco and Rashida Jones are jumping on the bandwagon, using their influence and resources to invest in a type of audiovisual knowledge production far less mainstream than that in which they usually participate. The films that have resulted from this new movement are undoubtedly persuasive, no matter which side of the debate over pornography these directors have respectively chosen to represent. Moreover, regardless of the side(s) that audience members may have taken in the so-called “feminist porn debates,” one cannot ignore the rhetorical strength of the arguments presented in a wide variety of documentaries about pornography.

www.influencefilmclub.com Hot Girls Wanted Discussion Guide Directors: Jill Bauer, Ronna Gradus Year: 2015 Time: 84 min You might know these directors from: Sexy Baby (2012) FILM SUMMARY Journalists Jill Bauer and Ronna Gradus met while working at “The Miami Herald,” and in their debut film, “Sexy Baby,” they address the effect the Internet has on female sexuality. Following this exposé, they set out to make a film on how men were handling the Internet’s depiction of sexuality. The more men they interviewed, the more the word “pro-am” was repeated. Men were clearly turned on by this professional-amateur field of Internet pornography, Bauer and Gradus began to turn their attention to the characters populating this trend. In HOT GIRLS WANTED, we are introduced to Stella May, Ava Taylor, Ava Kelly, Lucy Tyler, and Brooklyn Daniels, young women ranging from the ages of 18 to 25. Fresh off their first airplane ride, their first time in Miami they are feeling on top of their game. They feel the the world is at their feet and their future is bright. They trade in their given names, strip down in front of a camera, and perform scripted sex that often borders on abuse. For what? The promise of fame, money, and escape from the humdrum of daily life. “It’s a lot of money for a girl, so why not?” Brooklyn states. “It’s a boost of confidence to know that you’re wanted that much.” Raised in a world where a woman’s value is still largely based on appearance, Brooklyn reflects the innocence and insecurity behind these girls’ decisions.

  • Serie Netflix 13 Reasons Why: Consideraciones Para Educadores

It covers the basic plot and describes content that viewers may find disturbing. 13 Reasons Why is not consistent with many guidelines for media reporting and depiction of suicide, and watching it may be distressing for young people, especially those who are vulnerable. 13 Reasons Why is a high school based drama recently released internationally on Netflix. All 13 hour-long episodes were released together, on March 31st 2017. It is the story of Hannah, a young woman who has died by suicide before the show starts. She has left a box of audio-tapes with Clay, the protagonist of the show, each revealing one of the 13 reasons why she decided to die. On the tapes, she details a number of highly traumatic events that contributed to her developing thoughts of suicide, mostly involving her classmates. Clay is the last of several people who were to listen to the tapes, according to her instructions. As Clay plays them, he learns about many things that happened during Hannah’s life. Classmates who have already heard the tapes are involved at various points, providing additional (sometimes conflicting) information and trying to Keep him on tracK. Abstract When Netflix launched in April 1998, Internet video was in its infancy. Eighteen years later, Netflix has developed into the first truly global Internet TV network. Many books have been written about the five broadcast networks – NBC, CBS, ABC, Fox, and the CW – and many about the major cable networks – HBO, CNN, MTV, Nickelodeon, just to name a few – and this is the fitting time to undertake a detailed analysis of how Netflix, as the preeminent Internet TV networks, has come to be. This book, then, combines historical, industrial, and textual analysis to investigate, contextualize, and historicize Netflix's development as an Internet TV network. The book is split into four chapters. The first explores the ways in which Netflix's development during its early years a DVD-by-mail company – 1998-2007, a period I am calling "Netflix as Rental Company" – lay the foundations for the company's future iterations and successes. During this period, Netflix adapted DVD distribution to the Internet, revolutionizing the way viewers receive, watch, and choose content, and built a brand reputation on consumer-centric innovation.
