The 2022 season will see the league move to a 132-game schedule and Rancho Cucamonga at Fresno, 6:50 PM the first-half and second-half winners of each respective division meet in the playoffs. Inland Empire at Lake Elsinore, 7:05 PM GOODBYE LANCASTER, HELLO FRESNO: This six-game set marks the first time that the Quakes and Fresno Grizzlies are San Jose at Stockton, 7:05 PM meeting in history, as this is the one and only series between the two teams in 2021. With Major League Baseball’s initiative to reduce the minor leagues to 120 teams before the start of the 2021 season, the Lancaster JetHawks were eliminated from the then-California TOMORROW League. Taking their spot in the newly-renamed Low-A West League are the Fresno Grizzlies, who join the league from the former Modesto at Visalia, 6:30 PM Triple-A Pacific Coast League, where they were members since 1998. The home of the Grizzlies is Chukchansi Park, which seats a San Jose at Stockton, 6:30 PM more Triple-A appropriate crowd of 10,000-plus fans. The Lancaster JetHawks were affiliated with the Colorado Rockies for the final Inland Empire at Lake Elsinore, 6:35 PM four years in the Cal League. This made Colorado the only affiliate left in Low-A West and they ended up being the only choice for Rancho Cucamonga at Fresno, 6:50 PM Fresno. The Grizzlies were a Giants’ affiliate from 1998-2014 and then won their only PCL title as a Houston Astros’ affiliate in 2015. They spent their final two years in the PCL as a Washington Nationals’ affiliate, prior to dropping three levels in 2021. 2021 QUAKES AT A GLANCE GAVIN STONE: Rancho will try to stop their two-game skid, sending Gavin Stone to the mound for his 11th appearance and tenth 1st Half Record: 25-25 start. In his last outing, Ruff allowed vs Fresno Home: 0-0 four runs on six hits with four walks in a no-decision at Visalia on 6/26. (WBCI) today announced the rosters and coaching staffs for Pool 1 of the World Baseball Classic Qualifier, which will be played March 13th-18th at Kino Sports Complex in Tucson, Arizona. Pool 1 of the Qualifier will feature the National Teams of Brazil, France, Germany, Nicaragua, Pakistan and South Africa. The top two teams in Pool 1 will advance to compete in the 2021 World Baseball Classic, which marks the fifth installment of the event featuring many of the world’s greatest players. For the first time, the WBC will include 20 competing National Teams. Team Brazil will once again be led by Hall of Fame shortstop Barry Larkin, who led the squad to its first WBC appearance in 2013 after winning the Qualifier in Panama City, Panama in November 2012. The 2004 American League Rookie of the Year is both a former player (2002) and coach (2019) with the RockHounds and will make his managerial debut in 2021. He was scheduled to manage the Stockton Ports of the (Advanced-A) California League before the 2020 Minor League season was cancelled due to COVID-19. Crosby will be joined by pitching coach Steve Connelly, hitting coach Kevin Kouzmanoff, assistant hitting coach Juan Dilone, head athletic trainer Nick Voelker and sport performance coach Matt Mosiman. Crosby and Connelly (now in his third season) return from the RockHounds’ 2019 field staff while Dilone and Mosiman will make “belated” debuts with the club - - both were originally named to the ‘Hounds’ staff for the 2020 season. Kouzmanoff, who enters his second season as a coach on the A’s farm, played seven seasons in the Major Leagues, including the 2010 season with Oakland and concluding with a brief stint with the Texas Rangers in 2014. Mosiman was promoted to the RockHounds after spending two seasons with Stockton while Dilone, a 25-year member of the A’s organization, spent six seasons (2014-19) as hitting coach for the (Single-A) Beloit Snappers.
