A Modesto Nuts Front Office Member and Mascot would attend each school and put on an assembly for the students to emphasize how important reading is. Teachers would set reading goals for their students for four weeks to represent the four bases in baseball. Each time a student hit their goal they received a prize from one of our sponsors. When each student completed the Reading Program they were given a free ticket to a Modesto Nuts game with a complimentary hot dog, soft drink, and a chance to participate in a pre-game parade with their school. NUTS AND THE BOYS & GIRLS CLUB During the 2018 Season the Modesto Nuts Players developed strong relationships with the members of the Boys & Girls Club. Over the summer, players visited their summer camp and participated in various activities, shared stories, and hosted a car wash to raise funds for the Boys & Girls Club. Members of the Boys & Girls Club would visit the players during batting practice to learn more about the dedication and commitment it takes to pursuing your dream.
