Mathias eventually came around to score the only run of the game in a 1-0 victory. Mathias went on to compile a four-game hitting streak and was 5-for-15 (.333) through his first week of play in the Majors. He played six games before he was sent back to Appleton, Wisc., on August 11. Mathias was recalled August 20, went 2-for-4 against the Pittsburgh Pirates on August 22, and was sent back to Appleton on Sept. 8. Mathias opened the 2021 season on the 60-day injury list due to a strained shoulder suffered while making a diving catch in the outfield during a Cactus League game March 9. Originally diagnosed with a torn labrum in his right shoulder, Mathias' recovery time could be as long as three to four months. He remains at the Brewers' spring training facility for rehab work.
