BSITH Los Angeles Angels Offical Rules.Docx Best Seats in the House at Angel Stadium Sweepstakes The following terms, conditions and rules ("Official Rules") explain and govern the "Best Seats in the House at Angel Stadium Sweepstakes" ("Sweepstakes") as presented and sponsored by Jerome’s Furniture Warehouse, 16960 Mesamint St., CA 92127 (“Jerome’s” or “Contest Administrator”), with permission from Angels Baseball LP (“ABLP”) regarding Prizes being offered. B. “Designated Game” means the Angels baseball game chosen on the Designated Drawing Date as the Prize for each Winner. C. “Winner” means the eligible Sweepstakes entrant who has complied with these Official Rules and is selected by the Contest Administrator on the designated drawing date to receive a Prize. D. “MLB” means Major League Baseball, the Office of the Commissioner of Baseball, the American and National Leagues of Professional Baseball Clubs, Major League Baseball Enterprises, Inc., Major League Properties, Inc., Major League Properties Canada, Inc., Baseball Television, Inc. d/b/a Major League Baseball International, MLB Advanced Media, L.P., MLB Advanced Media, Inc., each of their respective successors and assigns or any other entity acting on behalf of the Major League Baseball Clubs collectively. E. “Released Parties” means Jerome’s Furniture, Angels Baseball LP, the City of Anaheim, Major League Baseball, the American League, all Sweepstakes sponsors and prize donors, and their respective parent, subsidiary, and affiliate companies, divisions, representatives, agents, suppliers, distributors, and advertising/promotion agencies, as well as each such company’s officers, directors, employees and agents. HOW TO ENTER: The method of entry is to visit www.jeromes.com during one of the Sweepstakes Entry Periods. Each entrant must fully complete and submit all required registration information. Incomplete Entries and Entries with falsified information (i.e., an invalid email address) will be disqualified. One (1) Entry per person. Duplicate Entries will be removed from the pool of eligible entries and will not increase an entrant’s odds of winning. The decision to disqualify an entry is at the sole discretion of Jerome’s, and will occur without notice of communication to the entrant.     Alex Gallardo Irene Carlson Gallery of Photography Eyes on the Ball April 11 through May 20, 2011 An exhibition of photographs Miller Hall, University of La Verne Photographer’s Statement My start in photojournalism began with a slide show program during a beginning photo class at the University of La Verne. It was presented by a well-known photojournalist at the The Sun in San Bernardino, Tom Kasser. His work opened my eyes. Once I had seen what he could do with a camera, it brought me to see, and not just look, at the world around me. Kasser gave me a goal to strive for, to work at The Sun as a staff photographer. Through my undergraduate career I learned the mechanics of the craft. As a lifetime baseball player I already had the competitive gene so I redirected my passion for athletics toward photography. I took a detour in my quest to be a photojournalist after graduating from ULV. A huge mistake cost me thirteen months of my professional life, and almost the use of my legs. I drove a dump truck backwards over a cliff, spent three months in a hospital and at home in a body cast recuperating from injuries. I spent another nine months in physical therapy learning to walk. Doctors told me that I might not regain the use of my legs or walk without assistance for least five years, if ever. Luckily, I had a great physical therapist. We worked hard every day and prayed to regain the use of my legs. Once I began to walk doctors cleared me to continue as a photographer and stay away from driving trucks.

Cho DEGREE: Master of Science COLLEGE: Teachers College DATE: July 2020 PAGES: 27 The Designated Hitter (DH) rule in Major League Baseball (MLB) is a topic of great debate. In the National League (NL), all players take a turn at bat. However, in the American League (AL), a DH usually bats for the pitcher. MLB pitchers typically do not have strong batting averages. The DH rule was created to increase a team’s offense. This study looked at whether there is an apparent difference between the AL and the NL. In theory, a DH will lead to more hits, more runs, and therefore a higher scoring game. This study looked at the average runs per game and total home runs for the AL and NL during the 1998 through 2018 regular seasons. Since the assumptions of parametric multivariate analysis of variance (MANOVA) were not met, a nonparametric analysis was used. The permutation test for multivariate means results showed an apparent difference between the two leagues (p < .05). A quadratic discriminant analysis (QDA) was used as a follow up test and showed home runs as the variable driving the difference between the two leagues. Therefore, the AL has better scoring performance than the NL.

On July 3 at 1:38 p.m., San Bernardino County Fire crews were dispatched to the area of the old Cliffhanger restaurant for a rock climber who had fallen 30 feet. Crews made access in the area and found the man, who was unable to self rescue. Due to the complexity of the call and the risks involved, a SBCoFD Urban Search and Rescue (USAR) team was started. Crews utilized a rope rescue system to access and haul the patient from the rock face. Ninety minutes after arrival, the patient was loaded to an awaiting ambulance for transport to a local trauma canter in stable condition.

    Academic Forum 30 2012-13 Progressive Team Home Run Leaders of the Washington Nationals, Houston Astros, Los Angeles Angels and New York Yankees Fred Worth, Ph.D. Professor of Mathematics Abstract - In this paper, we will look at which players have been the career home run leaders for the Washington Nationals, Houston Astros, Los Angeles Angels and New York Yankees since the beginning of the organizations. Introduction Seven years ago, I published the progressive team home run leaders for the New York Mets and Chicago White Sox. I did similar research on additional teams and decided to publish four of those this year. I find this topic interesting for a variety of reasons. First, I simply enjoy baseball history. Of the four major sports (baseball, football, basketball and cricket), none has had its history so consistently studied, analyzed and mythologized as baseball. Secondly, I find it amusing to come across names of players that are either a vague memory or players I had never heard of before. The Nationals The Montreal Expos, along with the San Diego Padres, Kansas City Royals and Seattle Pilots debuted in 1969, the year that the major leagues introduced division play. The Pilots lasted a single year before becoming the Milwaukee Brewers. The Royals had a good deal of success, but then George Brett retired. Not much has gone well at Kauffman Stadium since. The Padres have been little noticed except for their horrid brown and mustard uniforms. They make up for it a little with their military tribute camouflage uniforms but otherwise carry on with little notice from anyone outside southern California.

    General Admission DiMaggio’s Other Streak by S. Derby Gisclair Member, Society for American Baseball Research In 1933, Joe DiMaggio was an 18-year old rookie playing for his hometown San Francisco Seals in the Class AA Pacific Coast League (PCL). An unknown who had been playing semi-pro ball two years earlier as a newsboy, his name was often misspelled in the press of the day as De Maggio, even after he broke the PCL record for hitting safely in consecutive games set in 1915 by Jack Ness. It wasn’t until Seals owner and PCL vice-president Charley Graham was making arrangements to have DiMaggio’s name engraved on a gold watch presented to him for breaking the record that the question arose. After all, Joe’s older brother Vince, a former Seal who was then playing with the Hollywood Stars, spelled his name DiMaggio. Joe had actually played 3 games at shortstop with the Seals at the end of the 1932 season and had only been invited to spring training in 1933 after his brother Vince argued his case to manager Lefty O’Doul. It worked out well for Joe, who the team signed, but not so well for Vince, who the team released. Luckily for DiMaggio and for the fans in San Francisco, O’Doul moved him from shortstop to right field. DiMaggio was very erratic, always overthrowing the first baseman. His throwing arm was better suited to an outfielder and he was a pretty fair hitter. No one had any idea of what was to come.

    TEAM UP FEBRUARY TOUCH BASE 2021 WASHINGTON, DC AND THE MLB ALL-STAR GAME The Major League Baseball All-Star Game is also known as the “Midsummer Classic.” The game features the best players in the National League (NL) playing against the best players in the American League (AL). Fans choose the starting lineups; and a combination of players, coaches, and managers choose the rest of the players on the All-Star rosters. The game is played every year, usually on the second or third Tuesday in July. The very first All-Star Game was on July 6, 1933, at the home of the Chicago White Sox. Only two times since then has the game not been played — in 1945 due to World War II travel restrictions, and 2020 due to the coronavirus pandemic. Nationals Park and Washington, DC were at the center of the baseball universe in July 2018, serving as host of the 89th Major League Baseball All-Star Game. Remember all those festivities? This may come as a surprise, but that was actually the fifth time the All-Star Game was played in DC. Here is a little bit about each of the All-Star Games played in the Nation’s Capital. JULY 7, 1937 The 1937 Midsummer Classic, which was the fifth Major League Baseball All-Star Game, was played on July 7, at Griffith Stadium. President Franklin D. Roosevelt was in attendance, making this the first All-Star Game to be played in front of a current President. The American League won the game 8-3, improving to 4 wins and 1 loss in the five games.
