THE NATIONAL ACADEMY OF TELEVISION ARTS & SCIENCES ANNOUNCES THE ELECTION OF CHARLES L DAGES FORMER WARNER BROTHERS EXECUTIVE AS CHAIRMAN OF THE BOARD

New York, NY – August 13, 2014 -- The governing Board of Trustees of The National Academy of Television Arts & Sciences (NATAS) today announced the election of Charles (Chuck) L. Dages, former Warner Bros. Executive Vice President, Emerging Technology, as Chairman of the Board. Mr. Dages will be working with the Executive Committee and the Board of Trustees on all major programming, sponsorship and marketing of the non-profit organization and securing its mandate of recognizing excellence in the television and media industry.

“Much has been written in the consumer and professional press of the changes occurring in our industry…the television industry,” said Dages. “These well documented changes are tectonic: the diversity of new channels continues; the new business models for funding and paying for content are multiplying; the mobile platforms that laterally free the consumer to watch anytime and anywhere. This is an exciting time and the opportunities and challenges we must master will lead those who lead to reap the rewards. I am confident that with the combined talents of our board of trustees and NATAS staff, working together with our experienced leadership across the country in our nineteen regional chapters, the National Academy will grow and prosper while leading its membership into in this exciting time that many are calling the ‘second golden era’ of television.”

CHARLES L. DAGES

Charles (Chuck) L. Dages, is the former Warner Bros. Executive Vice President, Emerging Technology, a post culminating a career at the Studio of nearly twenty years. In this senior executive position, Mr. Dages was responsible for leading and applying new, innovative technologies to the production, post-production and distribution of feature films, television and interactive entertainment.

Reporting to Mr. Dages, the core areas of Warner Bros. Motion Picture Imaging Inc., WB Advanced Editorial Services and WB Production Technology became leaders in their respective fields. These operations pioneered the practical implementation of advanced techniques and technologies making them global leaders in post-production, restoration, finishing, and versioning for an ever expanding consumer digital platforms. 2

Dages’ led the creation of a complete studio digital facility for "The Ellen De Generes Show” at the Warner Bros. Studio in Burbank, CA. Chuck worked closely with the creators of TMZ in building "tapeless digital newsroom” bringing the websiteTMZ.com to television with its hallmark instant breaking celebrity news.

As the senior executive assigned to Warner Bros. Motion Picture Imaging Inc. and WB Advanced Editorial Services Inc, an all-digital post facility on the Studio Lot, became a global enterprise for film and television series production and classic film restoration. Using new business models, a redefined customers base, flexible workflow design and rapidly grew under his tenure. Launching of this newly defined business for global post- production and restoration services was marked by the opening night premiere of the restored classic, RED SHOES, at the Cannes Film Festival and a screening of restored GODFATHER at the New York Times Film Club. This facility is routinely chosen for post-production of major films and television series.

Dages directed the Warner Bros. involvement with The (US) President's Emergency Plan for AIDS Relief (PEPFAR). As Public-Private partnership between the Studio and the US State Department, he lead and the various divisions of Warner Bros. in bringing their expertise and creative resources to the Global fight against AIDS. Warner Bros. Entertainment Inc. received the Global Business Coalition Award for Business Excellence for this work. Mr. Dages was member of the WB strategic team, which created the Studio's video game arm, Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment, Warner Bros. Online early use of social media, along with multiple strategic partnerships and investments.

Joining Warner Bros. in 1994 as SVP Technology, he managed the launch of the Warner International Channel, the launch of syndicated television show “Extra”, the Rosie O’Donnell Show and designed and built the innovative WB TV Network digital infrastructure which was later recognized with a Technical Emmy® Award. Prior to joining Warner Bros., Chuck held positions of increasing responsibility as VP of East Coast Operations, VP Engineering and VP Development at CBS Television. Major projects during is tenure included the Ed Sullivan Theater for the "Late Show with David Letterman”; CBS Evening News studio; 60 Minutes post; CBS Broadcast Ops Center and technical facilities for the 1992 and 1994 Winter Olympic Games among others. His body of work in TV, network broadcasting, motion picture restoration, postproduction, digital workflows, interactive entertainment and conforming content for consumer digital devices at Warner Bros. and CBS resulted in Chuck receiving many honors including three Emmy (R) Awards. Silicon Valley’s AO Network named Chuck 2013 Power Player in Digital Entertainment.

Dages is a Life Fellow in the Society of Motion Picture and Television Engineers (SMPTE). He was twice named to the US Delegation to the UN General Assembly High Level meeting on Global Health. Dages was awarded a US State Department Certificate of Appreciation for President’s Emergency Plan for AIDS Relief work in Africa. Chuck serves on NYC Economic Development Corp’s (EDC) Media 2020 and a participant in CEO Game Changers.

Dages most recently served as Co-Chair of the National Academy of Arts & Sciences’ Awards Committee being appointed in 2010 to this position. Chuck is a member National 3 Academy of Television Arts & Sciences, New York Chapter, and a member of the Academy of Television Arts & Sciences. Dages is a supporter and participant in the NATAS Technology & Engineering Emmy ™ Award Committee and its annual Awards ceremony since in 1985.

Chuck earned his BS in Engineering from Stevens Institute of Technology with Honors. He graduated with an MS Engineering-Science, Honors Program, from Pennsylvania State University, where was named as the Outstanding Engineering Alumni. Chuck is the recipient of University of Southern California Entertainment Technology Center’s Bob Lambert Technology Leadership Award where he was a longtime Board Member and served as the Chair.
