Page 2 Kev’s guys on-line eGroup study notes Mark 2: 1 – 12: Jesus Forgives and Heals a Paralyzed Man - A few days later, when Jesus again entered Capernaum, the people heard that he had come home. 2 They gathered in such large numbers that there was no room left, not even outside the door, and he preached the word to them. 3 Some men came, bringing to him a paralyzed man, carried by four of them. 4 Since they could not get him to Jesus because of the crowd, they made an opening in the roof above Jesus by digging through it and then lowered the mat the man was lying on. 5 When Jesus saw their faith, he said to the paralyzed man, “Son, your sins are forgiven.” 6 Now some teachers of the law were sitting there, thinking to themselves, 7 “Why does this fellow talk like that? He’s blaspheming! Who can forgive sins but God alone?” 8 Immediately Jesus knew in his spirit that this was what they were thinking in their hearts, and he said to them, “Why are you thinking these things? 9 Which is easier: to say to this paralyzed man, ‘Your sins are forgiven,’ or to say, ‘Get up, take your mat and walk’? 10 But I want you to know that the Son of Man has authority on earth to forgive sins.” So he said to the man, 11 “I tell you, get up, take your mat and go home.” 12 He got up, took his mat and walked out in full view of them all. This amazed everyone and they praised God, saying, “We have never seen anything like this!” Page 3 Kev’s guys on-line eGroup study notes 1 Cor 2: 6-10: God’s Wisdom Revealed by the Spirit - 6 We do, however, speak a message of wisdom among the mature, but not the wisdom of this age or of the rulers of this age, who are coming to nothing. 7 No, we declare God’s wisdom, a mystery that has been hidden and that God destined for our glory before time began. 8 None of the rulers of this age understood it, for if they had, they would not have crucified the Lord of glory. 9 However, as it is written: “What no eye has seen, what no ear has heard, and what no human mind has conceived”— the things God has prepared for those who love him—10 these are the things God has revealed to us by his Spirit. The Spirit searches all things, even the deep things of God. 11 For who knows a person’s thoughts except their own spirit within them? In the same way no one knows the thoughts of God except the Spirit of God. 12 What we have received is not the spirit of the world, but the Spirit who is from God, so that we may understand what God has freely given us. Page 4 Kev’s guys on-line eGroup study notes Pastor Furtick’s closing prayer on Sunday, April 18, 2021: We have a Jesus that can see faith and we have a God that can forgive sins – Let’s put the issues of our life at the feet of Jesus – Jesus was proving in Mark 2 that he has all authority – There is no problem that you can name that is greater than the power of God – In the name of your son Jesus - who walked this earth and lived a life that we could not live – The one who died a death on a sinners cross – The one who in the weakness of flesh, demonstrated the strength of God – In that name – In the name of Jesus – I speak to every human frailty – I speak to every sickness – I speak to every disease – I speak to every insecurity – I speak to deep shame – I speak to secret shame – I speak to fear – In the name of Jesus, you will rise up above what is holding you – and demonstrate the authority of the word of God in your life – This day – This week – This moment – you will break through every roof – You will break through every tradition – You will break through every barrier – You will break through every limitation – You will break through every name that has been placed on you – His name is greatness – and I speak this over every life – God we have evidence that you heal and forgive – Because the greatest block in our lives will not be something standing outside the door – It will be something that grows in our heart – And right now we bring it all before you. There are some things that only your spirt can reveal – We pray for a revelation as to who are in you Lord – and once we find this out, we will never be blocked again – use this moment to escalate – we just need a way into your presence – through the sacrifice of your son – and now we receive your touch in this moment – in Jesus’ name. Amen. Page 5 Kev’s guys on-line eGroup study notes Pastor: Steven Furtick Sermon Title: “Unlearning You Limitations” Sunday, April 18, 2021 • “You Need a New Roof’ • “There are two roofs in Mark 2 • God is a confrontational God - We have to embrace the conflict in order to grow.” • “Don’t let the gift become a limitation.” • “Sometimes rules prevent progress.” • “Don’t learn lies and then become loyal to them.” • “See the Inner-permission of 1 Cor 2:6-10 – Don’t limit things to your senses – Arm yourself with the right people to give you faith.” • “You have one friend that has no limitations.” Page 6 Kev’s guys on-line eGroup study notes Question: Based on your life experience and the season you are in what is meant by “Don’t let the gift become a limitation.” Context: Here is what Pastor Furtick said this past weekend: “When Jesus heals this man on the Sabbath, the only thing the scribes can say is that is the wrong day to do it – the Sabbath was given to people as a gift – but the scribes turned it into a limit – Sidenote: don’t let your gift become a limitation – don’t let one thing that God gave you one season of your life to protect you – that becomes something that prevents you in the next season of life.” Page 7 Kev’s guys on-line eGroup study notes Question: Based on your life experience and the season you are in what is meant by “Don’t let the gift become a limitation.” Additional commentary by Pastor Furtick on Easter Sunday - “But That is Not All You Are” “Easter is just like the tomb – and we are open to what God has for our lives. Say this out loud: I am open. We were not open as to what we hoped that would have happened – we were not open to what we thought would’ve happened – we were not open to what we think should be best – God - if you can put a 59-year-old on top of the YouTube Mountain – God if you can heal a man that’s been in a grave for four days (where Mary is more concerned about the stench than the man’s potential) – God if you can do that – we are open. God wants you to unlearn your limitations – stop thinking things have to be on one schedule.” “Celebrate the lateness of God - Why did God make Thomas wait for a week? So the Thomas can wrestle and learn about God – and about life and not just trust the summary statements. Yes Jesus loves everyone but he also flips tables – when we have a view of God that thinks that God says only soothing things – this is why I hate preaching on holidays – we took something as powerful as the resurrection of Jesus Christ and dressed it in pastel.” Page 8 Kev’s guys on-line eGroup study notes Pastor Furtick’s “Unlearning Limitations” from 4/18/2021 “I feel bad for the scribes in Mark 2 – and I have expressed similar levels of doubt as well.

Pastor Rich Harris After God’s Heart Part 2—Take the Power Back 6.20.2021 USING THIS SERMON DISCUSSION GUIDE We have provided all the Scriptures references in the sermon and some discussion questions for you to use to discuss the weekend message. This Sermon Discussion Guide is only a tool to aid you in meeting the needs of your group. For most groups, there are too many questions to answer in one session together. Give priority to the needs and pace of your group members. While the questions are important, remember your group’s goal is to create an atmosphere that will foster true friendships. Use the discussion questions as you see fit but emphasize the relationships. (Review) A heart after God is defined by these three things: 1. Complete trust and dependence on God 2. A heart of worship 3. A heart that always returns to God [1 Samuel 16:13-14, NIV] 13 So Samuel took the horn of oil and anointed him in the presence of his brothers, and from that day on the Spirit of the Lord came powerfully upon David. Samuel then went to Ramah. [1 Samuel 16:14, ESV] Now the Spirit of the Lord departed from Saul, and a harmful spirit from the Lord tormented him. [Acts 23:14, ESV] 14 They went to the chief priests and elders and said, “We have strictly bound ourselves by an oath to taste no food till we have killed Paul.” BIBLICAL DISCLAIMERS (from 1 Samuel 16)— 1) The Holy Spirit will never leave you.

Not the way things used to be, not good enough leadership from Moses, and on and on. March 2012 Knights of Columbus Washington State Council Bulletin Page AS KNIGHTS OF COLUMBUS Knights of Columbus WE ARE THE HANDS AND FEET Washington State Council OF CHRIST WE ARE OUR 2011-2012 Bulletin BROTHERS KEEPER WE SAVE LIVES AND So That the World will Know New Hope CHANGE LIVES Message from State Deputy, Bear the Light of Christ Don McBride I’m going to apologize in advance because I suspect I’m going to be a little bit long-winded this month. But trust me, there’s a lot of great information to cover and I think it’s important to share. I’ll spend a bit of time on membership, on our chaplains, and on legislative activities/updates. And in some ways, they’re all related. First off, I have great news in the growth of our state council: congratulations go out to our 151st council, St. Anne Council 15462 in Tacoma! DD22 Frank Hyke, Westside NCD Chairman Eugene Daly, Charter GK Don Wells, and Chaplain Fr. Tuan Nguyen are commended for their efforts to bring this council to fruition. In membership, we’re making our move! I was gratified in the last few days to watch our progress in membership growth surpass the 50% mark toward our intake goal for the year. I’ve intentionally avoided focusing on numbers in our discussions thus far, but we’re now at a point where a little bit of math serves us well. The goal of membership growth isn’t just an abstraction, and it isn’t just about achieving a target; it’s about creating a force that can effectively influence the world around us.

He said, 11 Always announce a Biblical text at the beginning of your sermon" and then with a twinkle in hi.s eye, he added, "It will give the people something to think about while you're preaching". So, here it is. The text is from the Book of' Revelation, Chapter 3. Verses 20 and 23. "Behold, I stand at the door and knock; if any one hears My voice and opens the door, I will come in to him and eat with him and he with Me". "He who has an ear to hear, let him hear." DEVELOPMENT It's good to be wtth you once again! The last time I was here was last September for the Memorial Service for our beloved Lyn don Woodside, our Choir Director and Organist for 38 years.
