Famille Gonnet Cuvee Tradition COUNTRY VARIETALS France 70% Grenache REGION 10% Syrah 10% Mourvèdre Rhone 10% blend of Counoise, APPELLATION Cinsault, Terret noir, AOC Châteauneuf-du-Pape Vaccarèse, Clairette, Bourboulenc ABV 14.5% WINERY According to local archives, the Gonnet family settled at Bettarides in the early 17th century but it wasn’t until 1880 that Jean Etienne Gonnet built the farmhouse that serves as the headquarters of the Gonnet estate today. This 30-hectare vineyard—adjoining land connected all in one lot—is magnificently situated in the southeast of the Chateauneuf du Pape AOC. The property was practically begging for a winery, which it got in 1950 when Jean’s grandson, Etienne Gonnet, created Font de Michelle. Since 1975 his sons, Jean and Michel, have kept watch over the destiny of the estate and today, their respective sons, Bertrand and Guillaume, continue the Famille Gonnet legacy with enthusiasm and skill. In 2002 the estate expanded with a magnificent 20 hectares of Cotes du Rhone property at Domazan, in the Gard: La Font du Vent. Overseeing both properties is the company Gonnet Pères et Fils, which manages the distribution and export of the Font de Michelle and Font du Vent wines. The company also offers, under its own brand, wines from the Rhone valley that it selects with the utmost care. CULTIVATION TASTING NOTES Produced every vintage from the South facing Red and black fruit, garrigue, spice and anise. vineyards. Made from very old vines, this wine showcases the Gonnet style: soft, elegant tannins, complexity and finesse. South East (Bédarrides) side of the Châteauneuf du Pape Appellation. Hand picked harvest (AOC obligation). VINIFICATION Traditional, in concrete vat, stainless steel tank and wooden vat, 60% to 100% stems removed, 20 to 30 days fermentation and maceration. Château de Beaucastel Châteauneuf-du-Pape Rouge 2018 THE VINTAGE The 2018 vintage is characterized by exceptional weather conditions. Flowering took place in the best possible conditions, with a historically abundant grape output. A few rainy episodes at the end of the spring complicated things a little with an attack of mildew, but the good weather then settled down until harvest, which took place under idyllic conditions. The wines are beautiful. DESCRIPTION Château de Beaucastel has long been regarded as one of the greatest wines in France. It is notorious for its elegance, balance, and aging potential. Beaucastel has an exceptional terroir at the northern limit of Châteauneuf-du-Pape, exposed to the Mistral wind. All 13 varieties of the appellation have been organically grown since the 1960s. SITUATION Châteauneuf-du-Pape, between Orange and Avignon, Château de Beaucastel red is a 70-hectare (173-acre) vineyard. TERROIR Château de Beaucastel is 110 hectares (272 acres), with one single plot at the north of the appellation. The terroir is archetypal of the best terroirs in Châteauneuf: rolled pebbles on the surface, sand, clay, and limestone deeper down. The vines are old and have been organically grown for 50 years, which has allowed the roots to grow exceptionally deep. Beaucastel grows all 13 grape varieties authorized by the appellation. PROCESS Each variety is harvested separately and manually. Vinification takes place in oak fermenters for the reductive varieties (Mourvèdre, Syrah) and in traditional enameled concrete tanks for the oxidative grapes (all the others). Once the malolactic fermentation is finished, Famille Perrin blends the different varieties.

CELLAR MASTER WINE CLUB September 2020 2012 Xavier Vignon Cuvee Anonyme Châteauneuf-du-Pape, France As the technical director and head enologist at “Laboratoire Avignon Oenologie Con- seil,” Xavier Vignon is the consulting winemaker at more than 300 estates, including most of the best-known domaines in Châteauneuf-du-Pape. In lieu of payment for his laboratory’s service, he sometimes accepts wine, which the micro-négociant com- pany he established in 2002, “Xavier Vins,” uses to produce exceptional wines of the southern Rhône Valley. Originally a physical chemist, Xavier is particularly interested in how the spectrum of dissolved mineral salts in the groundwater of each vineyard, which varies from parcel to parcel, influences the expression of terroir in the grapes. “I’m a trained enologist,” he says. “I’ve examined wine down to the molecular level. Which, in the end, convinces me that what is most important are the vines, the depth of the roots, and the health and balance of the vineyard.” Using a combination of skills, Xavier Vignon has established himself as both a mer- chant and winemaker. Since 2002, Xavier has worked as a negociant, gathering the very best grapes produced by top growers to make his own Xavier Vins line. Since he’s an enologist he has the knowledge and experience needed to navigate vineyards and produce high-quality wines of different varieties. He produced his first Xavier Vins vintage in 2007. Today, they continue to produce their wines at Chateau Husson in Courthezon, France. In addition to producing wines in the Chateauneuf du Pape appellation, he also creates wines in Gigondas and villages in the Cotes du Rhône.

It is unanimously renowned for its balance, elegance and ageing potential. Beaucastel has an extraordinary terroir at the Northern end of the appellation with heavy exposure to the Mistral.
