A firmarlo i giornalisti da La Gazzetta dello Sport Pier Bergonzi, Luca Gialanella, Claudio Gregori, Paolo Marabini, Marco Pastonesi e Ciro Scognamiglio. Classe 1984, ciclista professionista dal 2005, Nibali corre per il team Astana. Tra le sue vittorie rientrano la Vuelta España 2010, il Giro d’Italia 2013 e due edizioni della Tirreno-Adriatico. E’ il secondo italiano dopo Felice Gimondi a essere salito sul podio di tutti e tre i Grandi Giri, dopo aver vinto il titolo di campione nazionale italiano nel giugno 2014. Grande carisma e determinazione caratterizzano Nibali, soprannominato “Lo squalo dello Stretto” fin da dilettante, per via del suo modo di correre sempre all’attacco. “Nibali e l’Italia del Tour” racconta i retroscena del campione, soffermandosi sulla fondamentale figura di Giuseppe Martinelli, dirigente sportivo dell’Astana, e sui compagni di squadra, veri e propri angeli custodi, e ripercorrendo l’intera cronostoria di questo Tour 2014 appena concluso. Nel libro, il talento di Nibali fa da apripista al racconto delle vittorie di altri grandi del ciclismo che hanno portato in alto i colori italiani: iniziando da Marco Pantani, vincitore del Tour de France nel 1998, 33 anni dopo Gimondi, vittorioso nel Tour del 1965 che, come raccontano nel libro, non avrebbe neanche dovuto correre… Spazio anche per la storica coppia di “amici-nemici” Coppi-Bartali. Entrambi riuscirono a far scrivere per ben due volte il proprio nome nell’albo d’oro della Grande Boucle. Il primo nel 1949 e nel 1952, il secondo nel 1938 e nel 1948.
