This project, which is expected to be completed in spring 2013, will improve local and inter-regional bus operations across the City of Mississauga. It involves constructing an 11-kilometre east-west busway across the City of Mississauga between Winston Churchill Boulevard and Renforth Drive in the City of Toronto and a total of 12 stations along the route with related commuter facilities. “Investments in public transit creates jobs and boosts the Canadian economy,” said MP Dechert. “This rapid transit system will provide commuters in Mississauga with a more efficient transit option, while cutting commute times and taking more cars off the road.” “This is great news for Mississauga residents,” said Ontario Transportation Minister Kathleen Wynne. “When the new bus rapid transit line is finished, more commuters will be able to leave their cars at home and take public transit. ESSEX-WINDSOR REGIONAL TRANSPORTATION MASTER PLAN Technical Report IBI Group With October, 2005 Paradigm Transportation Solutions Essex-Windsor Regional Transportation Master Plan MAJOR STUDY FINDINGS & EXECUTIVE SUMMARY PART 1: MAJOR STUDY FINDINGS Official Plan policies of both the County of Essex and the City of Windsor acknowledge that comprehensive regional transportation policies and implementation strategies are needed to effectively address regional transportation needs now through to 2021. This is needed because during this time period, the City and County combined are expected to grow by about 92,000 more residents and 53,000 jobs. The location and form of this growth will have a significant impact on the capability of the existing transportation system, and specifically the major roadway system, to serve the added travel needs. Coupled with this is the overall background growth in trip-making throughout the Essex-Windsor region, and the amount of cross-border traffic moving through the region. This is why the regional transportation plan has taken a very integrated transportation/land use planning approach, with as much emphasis on demand-side issues such as trip-making characteristics and travel mode choice, as on the more traditional supply-side alternatives dealing with major roadway widenings and extensions. The transportation planning approach used in this study emphasizes the integration of land use and transportation planning in Essex-Windsor region. Continued regional growth will put pressure on strategic parts of the transportation system, reducing its ability to move people and goods safely and efficiently in these parts of the region. Other transportation system needs will continue to grow in response to growth in international cross-border traffic, and are addressed more specifically in the Lets Get Windsor-Essex Moving initiatives, the Detroit River International Crossing Study and the Windsor Gateway Report prepared for the City of Windsor by Sam Schwartz Engineering PLLC and released in January 2005. -

REPORT TO THE COMMUNITY 2020 REPORT TO THE COMMUNITY – CITY OF LONDON 2020 1 INTRODUCTION In April 2019, London City Council approved their 2019-2023 Strategic Plan. This plan includes a vision for London as, “A leader in commerce, culture, and innovation - our region’s connection to the World.” Council has committed to focus on Strengthening our Community, Building a Sustainable City, Growing our Economy, Creating a Safe London for Women and Girls, and Leading in Public Service. The specific outcomes, expected results and strategies that Council and Civic Administration will deliver on together are outlined in the Strategic Plan. The City of London is committed to reporting on progress towards implementing the Strategic Plan on an annual basis. This Report to the Community highlights a number of accomplishments over the past year. Sabotage, Security, and Border-Crossing Culture: The Detroit River during the First World War, 1914-1918 BRANDON DIMMEL* This paper examines sabotage, security, and the Detroit River region’s border- crossing culture during the First World War. It finds that deep social and economic transnational relations in the years prior to the war meant few Windsor residents demonstrated any concern that they might become the target of German Americans, or “enemy aliens”, based in Detroit. And while these people were blasted out of their naïveté in June 1915, when the surrounding community was rocked by an explosion at a nearby uniform factory, over time fears associated with the border and Detroit’s German population subsided at the local level. The result would be confrontation between Windsorites and the federal government, which in the years following the attack attempted to impose strict border-crossing regulations on a traditionally permeable section of the international boundary. Le présent article porte sur le sabotage, la sécurité et la culture du passage de la frontière dans la région de la rivière Détroit au cours de la Première Guerre mondiale. That the Central Library be dedicated in honour of Hazel McCallion and renamed the Hazel McCallion Central Library as recommended in Resolution 0340-2020 on October 28, 2020 through a motion of Council and as outlined in the report titled ‘Renaming of Central Library (Ward 4)’ dated November 4, 2020 from the Commissioner of Community Services. 2. That Council waive the following requirements as outlined in the City's "Property and Facility Naming and Dedications" Corporate Policy 05-02-02”: a) The requirement to submit the request to General Committee for first approval. b) That an individual be honoured posthumously. c) The requirement for a 30-day consideration period prior to approval. Background In accordance with the City's 'Property and Facility Naming and Dedication' Corporate Policy 05- 02-02, the Community Services Department is directed to present names for Council’s consideration for the purposes of facilities, parks and trails in the City of Mississauga. In accordance with the policy, Council is requested to circulate information on the naming request to all residents and groups within a 400 metre radius of the facility and provide a 30 period for public input, after which the Committee is asked to make a final recommendation to Council.
