It's short walk from the pier to the Mar, an extraordinary, 75-foot tall ship. Once aboard, you'll receive a safety briefing, put up the sails and then begin your sail around Halifax harbor. This beautiful harbor is the world's second largest natural harbor (the largest being in Sydney, Australia) and home to America's oldest yacht club, Northwest Arm. The ship, which has twice circumnavigated the world, was built in Denmark for author Ernest K. Gann, and then sold to Charles Tobias, the founder of Pusser's Rum. Now docked in Halifax, the ship offers harbor tours with a historic flair. If you please, you can help hoist the sails and steer the ship. Or if you prefer, just sit back and enjoy the experience while the crew sails the Mar. They'll even fire her cannon to give you a sense of life at sea in the days of the original tall ships.

The harbor views are simply outstanding in every direction and include historic homes and Canada's east coast naval base. The harbor is also known as the site of the Halifax Explosion of 1917, the world's largest manmade explosion before the atomic bomb was dropped. The massive explosion was caused by two ships colliding; one carrying munitions, and the resulting blast nearly leveled the entire city.

Your guide will meet you at the pier, where your walking tour will begin. Being right in the heart of this historic town, the largest in the province of Prince Edward Island, there is much to discover. During your city orientation, you will hear about the founding families and see some of their original homes, typically made of wood, sandstone or brick.

At the Province House National Historic Site, you will discover how Canada was formed as the result of a conference held in the building in 1864. Duration: 2.50 Hrs Tour Price: £0.00

Date: October 18, 2016 10:00 AM Take a leisurely walk through the streets of Gaspe, admiring its architectural treasures and learning about its fascinating history.

After departing from the pier on foot, you will soon arrive in the heart of the historical and cultural section of Gaspe. The city’s name is derived from a First Nations phrase that means “land’s end,” an appropriate description because Gaspe sits on the very tip of a peninsula.

Europeans arrived in 1534 when French explorer Jacques Cartier erected a cross here. He is held in such high esteem that it is almost impossible to escape Cartier’s influence and name while in town. In 1934 the city erected a commemorative cross to mark the 400th-anniversary of him setting foot here. There is a Jacques Cartier Monument National Historic Site with sculptures of the first encounter between Cartier and the indigenous people that greeted him. The Gaspe Museum is perched at the tip of Jacques Cartier Point, and much of your heritage walk will be along Rue Jacques Cartier. The explorer is that important to Gaspe.

While strolling through the beautiful downtown, you can also expect to learn about other significant moments in the history of Gaspe. You may see a 19th-century hotel that is now the bishop’s residence, a former Neoclassical bank building that has been converted into boutiques, and homes of some of Gaspe’s most important settlers, which once housed Brazilian, Italian and Spanish consulates. Following this enlightening walk through Gaspe, you will walk back to the pier.

Please note: This tour includes 2 1/2 hours of easy to moderate walking over uneven surfaces and covers approximately 1 mile in distance. There will be a flight of stairs to negotiate. The tour is not available to wheelchair guests and not recommended for those with walking difficulties. Date: October 19, 2016 12:30 PM Discover the unique qualities of the land and people around Saguenay by visiting several unusual museums devoted to the Saguenay Fjord, soap making and paper pulping.

Departing from the pier, you will immediately be struck by the natural beauty surrounding Saguenay, which sprawls along the Saguenay River, a tributary of the mighty St. Lawrence. Its fjord, deeply chiseled in the Laurentian Mountains, is one of the world's largest and was discovered by French explorer Jacques Cartier in the mid 1530s. Marine life thrives here, including Beluga whales, Minke whales and Greenland sharks.

Arriving at the Fjord Museum, you will discover how the waterway was formed, its importance to the province, and why the museum's strange Ha! Ha! Pyramid monument was created out of more than 3,000 traffic yield signs. Later, you'll walk across the street to the Olivier Soapery, a one-of-a-kind museum devoted to the art and evolution of soap making.

Then, it's on to the Chicoutimi Pulp Mill, a beautiful natural stone mill that has become a museum. Inside, you'll find the Arthur Villeneuve House, which the former owner, a local barber, painted with primitive scenes and figures. Interestingly, including the house in the museum caused a controversy among those who thought it was an eyesore, not art. Finally, you'll visit Le Chevrier du Nord, a farm that raises angora goats for mohair clothing. It's quite the enterprise and a memorable end to your tour before driving back to the pier.

Please note: This tour includes approximately 2-hours of moderate walking/standing. There will be various gradients and surfaces to negotiate, including dirt/gravel paths at Mount Battie. The tour is available to wheelchair guests who have a collapsible wheelchair, are able to make their own way on and off the coach and have an able-bodied companion to assist them. There is limited accessibility at the goat farm and a flight of stairs at the Olivier Soapery. Scooters under 60 lbs. are permitted. Arriving at the Interpretation Center, you will discover much about the area and receive instruction regarding your outing on the water. Then, board your two-person kayak and prepare to paddle along Cape Trinity.

As you paddle through the pristine waterway, which was carved by the force of powerful glaciers centuries ago, you will marvel at the sheer cliffs and sandy beaches. It's an area of stunning natural beauty. The waters are rich in krill, making them attractive to whales that come to feed. Of course, exactly what you see will vary, although Cape Trinity is known for attracting whales, seals and a variety of marine birds.

Seeing the parkland on foot gives you a wonderful perspective of this intricate ecosystem.

The Saguenay National Park contains 70 miles of hiking trails, and your route along the Point de Vue du Soupir trail is one of the most breathtaking. Along the way, you will gain 450 feet in altitude, providing you with incredible views of the forests and river far below. Your tour commences from the pier with a scenic drive to Saguenay National Park, which encompasses the spectacular Saguenay Fjord, the world's southernmost fjord. One of the best ways to understand this intricate ecosystem is by visiting the Interpretation Center at the heart of the park. Here, during an informative presentation, you'll discover how the deep fjord was carved out of the land by powerful glaciers millions of years ago, why the Saguenay River is so dark and salty, and what wildlife thrives in the park. One of the most frequently seen marine animals is the Beluga whale, an arctic species that comes to feed on krill in the summer. The Beluga's white color makes it easy to spot, even from a distance.

There is also a re-creation of a Huron Village, a rural farm, and Quebec City's upper and lower towns. Interacting with the characters at New France, watching folkloric Indian dances, and sampling traditional foods only adds to your understanding of life here in the 17th century.

You will enhance your knowledge of the natural world by next visiting the nearby Saguenay Fjord Museum. Here, you will discover how the waterway was formed, its importance to the province, and why the museum's strange Ha! Ha! Pyramid monument was created out of more than 3,000 traffic yield signs.

Starting off from the pier, you will head outside of the city limits and into the idyllic French Canadian countryside. Riding through the foothills, you'll see the majestic Laurentian Mountains in the distance, the St. Lawrence River below, and the wonders of nature all around. Upon reaching serene Lac-Beauport, a scenic lake surrounded by emerald forest and frequented by outdoor adventurers, you'll stop for photos.

It's a great introduction to the natural beauty that lies ahead at Montmorency Falls, which thunder down 275 feet into the St. Lawrence River. Explorer Samuel de Champlain named the falls for his patron, the Duke of Montmorency, and it's a memorable tribute as the falls are 90 feet higher than Niagara Falls. The views are stunning from the elegant Montmorency Manoir, where you may enjoy tea and pastries, before crossing the bridge to the Island of Orleans. At its southwestern tip, facing Quebec City, you'll visit Sainte-Pétronille, a village that has been a fashionable summer resort since the 19th century. Of course, Canada is synonymous with maple syrup, so you'll also stop at an authentic sugar shack to learn how maple syrup is made and to sample sweet maple taffy.

Afterward, rejoin your coach for the relaxing and scenic drive back to the pier.

Depart from the pier by coach and drive to the National Battlefield Park, a 250-acre oasis in the heart of the city. Also known as the Plains of Abraham, it was the site of several clashes between the French and British and has great historical importance. You'll stop for photos at Cap Diamant, the promontory that overlooks the park. Then, it's on to Dufferin Terrace, where Samuel de Champlain built his fort in 1620, and Château Frontenac, a castle-like hotel has been an icon since opening in 1893. Your final stop in town will be at Place-Royale, a lovely square where your guide will elaborate on the founding of Quebec City, much of which took place in this area.

Driving out of town, the scenery soon changes from historic to stunningly beautiful. After lunch at a traditional Quebecois restaurant, more treasures await you. Arriving at St-Anne-de- Beaupré, a pilgrimage site for more than 350 years, you may want to take some time on your own to explore the wonderful basilica and chapel of the Shrine. Continuing on, you will make your way to the top of Montmorency Falls, where you will experience the glorious natural beauty of the falls as they thunder down 275 feet to the St. Lawrence River below. It's truly a dramatic end to your sightseeing before returning to the pier.

Please note: Walking on this tour is mainly at the guests' discretion during the stops. There will be various gradients and surfaces to negotiate and some of the sites have steps and no wheelchair ramp. The tour is available to wheelchair guests who have a collapsible wheelchair, are able to make their own way on and off the coach and have an able-bodied companion to assist them. Duration: 3.00 Hrs Tour Price: £0.00

Date: October 20, 2016 09:00 AM, 02:30 PM Experience the joys of Quebec City's immensely charming Old Town from three unique perspectives: on foot, riding a funicular and by horse-drawn carriage.

This tour begins by walking from the pier through Quebec City's wonderfully historic Old Town, an esteemed World Heritage Site and the only walled city in North America. The area was settled about 400 years ago and your first destination, Place-Royale, became the heart of the original settlement. Here in the square, you'll see Notre-Dame-des-Victoires, the continent's oldest Catholic church, while your guide elaborates on what life was like in those early years. Right around the corner is the pedestrian-only, boutique-lined Petit-Champlain Street. This delightful street with its cafés and specialty shops also features colorful street performers such as jugglers and strolling musicians.

Next, you'll ride the funicular to the Upper Town and walk to landmarks such as Dufferin Terrace, where Samuel de Champlain built his fort in 1620. It's one of the best places to take in sweeping views of the St. Lawrence River, Island of Orléans, and majestic Laurentian Mountains. Adjacent to Dufferin Terrace is the castle-like Chateau Frontenac, Quebec's most noted landmark. At nearby Jardin des Gouverneurs, or Governor's Garden, you will board a horse-drawn carriage and then ride at a leisurely pace around the city. Your route will follow the elegant, boutique-lined Grande-Allée, often referred to as the Champs-Élysées of Quebec, before continuing past the imposing Parliament Building and through several historic gates.

Your carriage ride ends back at the Governor's Garden and from here, you are free to stay and do some further exploring on your own, or return directly back to the pier.

Please note: This tour includes just over 2-hours of moderate walking. There are various gradients and surfaces to negotiate including cobblestone. The tour is not available to wheelchair guests or those with mobility concerns. Participants should be in good physical condition and must be able to enter and exit the horse carriage with limited assistance. A light sweater or jacket; umbrella; and flat, comfortable walking shoes are suggested. The sequence of the tour may vary.

Duration: 3.00 Hrs Tour Price: £0.00

Date: October 20, 2016 09:00 AM, 01:30 PM In addition to a delightful historical tour of Quebec City, you will venture into the unspoiled countryside to a thundering waterfall that's 90 feet higher than Niagara Falls.

Commencing from the pier, you will drive directly to Place-Royale, a lovely square on the site of the original settlement. Here, you'll receive a fascinating overview of the founding of the city while standing in the shadow of Notre-Dame-des-Victoires, the continent's oldest Catholic church. Then, it's on to Dufferin Terrace, where Samuel de Champlain built his fort in 1620, and Château Frontenac, a castle-like hotel that has been an icon since opening in 1893. You'll discover even more about the history of Quebec City at these two historic sites and enjoy some brief free time to browse on your own.

Next, it's on to Cap Diamant, the promontory that overlooks the Plains of Abraham, where the French and British clashed in battle numerous times. After stopping for photos and to enjoy sweeping views of the St. Lawrence River and Laurentian Mountains, you will head for Montmorency Falls, which thunder down 275 feet into the river. Explorer Samuel de Champlain named the falls for his patron, the Duke of Montmorency, and it's a memorable tribute as they are higher than Niagara Falls. After a 30-minute stop to capture some unforgettable photos, you will re-board your coach and travel back to the pier in Quebec City where your tour concludes.

Please note: This tour is primarily panoramic in nature and walking is mainly at the guests' discretion during the stops. The surfaces to negotiate are generally flat in nature. The tour is available to wheelchair guests who have a collapsible wheelchair, are able to make their own way on and off the coach and have an able-bodied companion to assist them. Duration: 4.00 Hrs Tour Price: £0.00

Date: October 20, 2016 01:00 PM The Beaupré Coast just outside Quebec City is staggeringly beautiful with rocky cliffs and dramatic waterfalls, and you'll see the best of it before visiting a signature local winery.

Departing from the pier by coach, you'll leave Quebec City and follow the beautiful Beaupré Coast, which runs along the St. Lawrence River. Nestled here in the foothills of the Laurentian Mountains, it's one breathtaking sight after another, including pastoral farmland, wildlife reserves, Montmorency Falls, and the idyllic Island of Orleans. Still, the highlight remains St-Anne Canyon, a steep gorge carved out of a 900-million-year-old rock formation by the relentless force of water.

Arriving at the canyon, you'll make your way to the roaring St-Anne-du-Nord River, which becomes a cascading, 243-feet waterfall in the canyon. Walk along the suspension bridges above the water, if you're feeling adventurous. Gazing upon this naturally formed canyon, the river thundering down its rocky cliffs is just as inspirational today as it was to American naturalist and author Henry David Thoreau, who visited in the mid-1800s. A specially designed vehicle can provide access for those who are mobility challenged to one of the walkways. The entire path is approximately 1-mile for those who wish to walk it; however, you may also choose to only walk a portion of it. Before leaving, there will be a bit of free time to browse the gift shop.

Next, it's on to an esteemed Canadian vineyard, where you'll learn about local wine making and sample some of the finest vintages. Because of the harsh winters, Quebec vineyards have rather short growing seasons, but the wines are surprisingly tasty and numerous, and several well-respected varietals are produced here.

After touring the vineyard, you will drive back to the pier, traveling via the bottom of Montmorency Falls where you will have some great views.

Please note: This tour includes approximately 2-hours of moderate walking/standing, plus any additional walking at the guests' discretion during the stops. There are various gradients and surfaces to negotiate. The tour is available to wheelchair guests who have a collapsible wheelchair, are able to make their own way on and off the coach and have an able-bodied companion to assist them. Your ghostly walking tour begins at the pier, where your costumed guide will regale you with stories of Quebec City's strangest and most frightful incidents. There has certainly been a fair share of unexplained mysteries, unsolved murders and eerie sightings over the last 400 years, and it doesn't take an enormous imagination to raise your goose bumps. The guide will lead you by lantern light through cobbled streets and past centuries-old buildings where you can easily picture shadowy figures of the past committing villainous deeds. When you hear tales of hovering specters, odd happenings and unspeakable tragedies, it's believable, perhaps too believable.

At Place-Royale, a square where the original settlement was founded, you may discover the unusual qualifications of the city's 17th century executioners. While standing before the Civilization Museum, you could hear about a past murderer credited with the deaths of more than 1,000 people. Walk the rampart to St-Paul Street, listen to a hair-raising short story at a 17th century seminary, and before long you'll begin to imagine things, very strange things. It's all part of the fun. And don't worry; when your tour is over, your guide will walk you back to the pier.

Please note: This tour includes approximately 2-hours of moderate walking that covers approximately 1.25 miles. There are various gradients and surfaces to negotiate including cobblestone.
