Further, tourism marketers and planners may be better equipped to promote and manage the des- tination, particularly with regard to expectations of the potential visitor. Tourism and National Identities is the first volume to explore fully the relation- ship between tourism and national identities and the multiple ways in which cultural tourism, events and celebrations contribute to national identity. It exam- ines core topics critical to understanding this relationship, including: tourism branding, stereotyping and national identity; tourism-related representation and experience of national identity; tourism visitation/site/event management; and the relationship to cultural tourism. Bushfire Moon Music Credits
Music Composed by Bruce Rowland The music for the film is a typically sentimental and melodic work by composer Bruce Rowland. Bruce Rowland first came to feature film attention by writing the score for The Man from Snowy River. In an interview in Cinema Papers, May 1988, Rowland explained how he started and how he got the gig on the film: I learned music for a couple of years as a kid, and taught myself the rest, except for a course I did for a year in conducting. I do all my own conducting, orchestration and arranging. Composing for movies was something I wanted to do. I'd been writing jingles for about 12 years, and before that I used to write music for television. There's much more money in jingle writing than in movies, and much less fatigue and stress - particularly stress. With films, I can wait three months and never hear a note until that one tumultuous day where I put my hand up and conduct the orchestra and it all goes bang! With jingles, you get the job, the brief's today, you do the job tomorrow, and then the day after that you send your bill and 120 days later you get a cheque. I heard they were making The Man From Snowy River, rang Geoff (Burrowes) and said I was interested. He sent me - and nine other composers - a script. I wrote a piece for it and was lucky enough to get the job. To get into writing music for films, you've really got to learn all the different facets of music. -

It’s my absolute pleasure to welcome you to our annual CINEMATIC concert and tell you why this concert means so much to me. Music can create tension or joy and keep you on the edge of your seat, and films have an incredible way of weaving story and music together to keep your eyes glued to the screen. Many film composers use the full might of a symphony orchestra to make audiences feel something, but the film industry can’t be credited for inventing emotional, edge-of-your-seat music. Classical music has been manipulating your emotions for hundreds of years, long before the invention of cinema. So, if you love movie music, you love classical music! When someone says to me, “I don’t understand classical music,” I say, “Yes, you do - you just don’t know it yet!” This year’s concert theme is Heroes and Heroines and as a horn player there are some fun horn features to look forward to. Many film scores give us a moment to shine - look out for us in the back left of the stage pumping out some heroic music from Star Wars, The Man From Snowy River and Gladiator. -
