I particularly loved what you did with the photos during ‘’Cattle Drive" - it just worked perfectly. In fact, I also think that the multiple composer approach worked seamlessly & the different styles complemented each other beautifully! But enough about the music. You have taken some absolutely stunning photographs in some absolutely stunning locations. I'm sure it's taken days if not weeks or months of photography and you've achieved an absolutely stunning result. I'm very proud that you asked me to be part of it and I want to thank you for asking me to be involved. I think that what you have achieved is probably the best photographs of their kind ever taken. I think your work is magnificent! Bravo." -Bruce Rowland (http://www.brucerowland.com/) "With the constant onslaught of advertisement for numerous movies and in-your-face documentaries, pledges for financial support and commitment to a wide array of good causes and the overall financial climate we live in today, it is easy to be overwhelmed into a state of guilt and numbness where beauty and dreams have no place, where inactivity is the normal state of mind. With Our Wild Horses and Our Wild Horses II, Pam has managed to let these spiritual, beautiful, wild creatures not only tell their own stories but also that of America. She has brought the beauty and dreams back into our lives which allow us to engage ourselves not based on guilt or shame but because we want to do so. Our Wild Horses and Our Wild Horses II is movie making at its best. Both Hollywood and independent movie makers ought to pay attention to Pam's effortless storytelling, her lack of lecturing and bullying and thereby the respect she shows for her audience's intelligence. Our Wild Horses and Our Wild Horses II are must haves not only for horse lovers but for everyone who believes in the legacy of America." -Marianne Mortensen Blake "Our Wild Horses II" by Pam Nickoles is a superior work of art combining visual and audio mediums to create a spectacular and profound experience. Never mind the awesome subject matter itself - wild horses interacting freely in their natural habitat of beautiful western landscapes - but Pam's photographs are gorgeous, sensitive, creative - so rich that the viewer feels like they are right there among the horses. The captivating photography is set to beloved and marvelous music, such as selections from "The Man From Snowy River", which lures you into the horses' world and feels like you are watching live action and witnessing the private lives of wild horses first-hand." -M. Duke "With 'Our Wild Horses II,' Pam Nickoles has outdone herself. The combination of photographs and music tells a story that is always grand and often moving – even for a non-horse person like myself. Our Wild Horses II is a testament to a part of our heritage that must be protected." -Geoff Coleman "One of our country's finest treasures is documented in this amazing wild horse DVD. The magnificent pictures are accentuated by beautifully touching music. It's a pleasure for anyone viewing this to share in the passion shared by all of the artists involved in this project." -Kim Chapman "WOWOWOW! STUNNING! I absolutely love it. The music is dead-on perfect (WOW! that music is just beautiful), and I love all the sections and how the music fits the various "collections." You have done a fabulous job showing the horses, their environment, their behavior, their tenderness, strength, grace, wisdom and beauty - even silliness! Simply stunning. Bravo!! I love all the variety of the photos, and the number of herds you have visited and photographed is just huge! You have done a phenomenal job." -TJ Holmes, Spring Creek Basin Blog "The DVD is fantastic! I felt like I was right there with the horses. I could just feel the power, the majesty and life in these horses. The music was just excellent and each phase was represented with the perfect song. My heart was pounding while watching the stallions fight over the orphaned newborn. This is exquisite footage. Your photos are world class and deserve to be seen throughout the world." -Bev Pettit "Pam has done great work in photographing wild horses all around the country. She shows wild horses coming from a variety of backgrounds living in different ecosystems, and a number of these photographs are of horses and places that few people have ever seen. This DVD thus demonstrates well the diverse characteristics and lifestyles of today’s wild horses. The thoughtfulness in her researching individual horses and arranging the photographs to a great selection of music further enhances this DVD experience." -Matt Dillon, Pryor Mountain Wild Mustang Center "I purchased the set for my daughter for Christmas. She is the manager of Superstition Stable in Apache Junction, AZ. She moved a TV in the main office dining room along with a box of Kleenex during the holiday dinner with 40 clients. EVERYONE was totally in awe of all the beauty, and the music. Since then it has been watched by small groups over and over, the reference book remains there too and is gone thru by all who spend leisure, social time there. I will be sending her your new one soon. Wonderful, heart-tugging work." -Beth Christie .

  • Cool Change Music Credits
Music Bruce Rowland Music Assistant Michael Grabowsky Music Studios Allan Eaton Studios AAV - Australia Recording Engineers Robin Grey Scott Hemming TITLE SONG "Love Took Me By Surprise" By Bruce Rowland and John Farnham Sung by Peter Cupples Composer Bruce Rowland: The music for the film is a typically sentimental and melodic work by composer Bruce Rowland. The end credits song is particularly sentimental, and was performed by Peter Cupples, known for his work with Stylus and other bands. Cupples has an eponymous website here, at time of writing, which provides a detailed biography of his life and career. Bruce Rowland first came to feature film attention by writing the score for The Man from Snowy River, and Cool Change is a reunion of the creative team on that film, set in the same Victorian high country locations. In an interview in Cinema Papers, May 1988, Rowland explained how he started and how he got the gig on Snowy River: I learned music for a couple of years as a kid, and taught myself the rest, except for a course I did for a year in conducting. I do all my own conducting, orchestration and arranging. Composing for movies was something I wanted to do. I'd been writing jingles for about 12 years, and before that I used to write music for television. There's much more money in jingle writing than in movies, and much less fatigue and stress - particularly stress. With films, I can wait three months and never hear a note until that one tumultuous day where I put my hand up and conduct the orchestra and it all goes bang! With jingles, you get the job, the brief's today, you do the job tomorrow, and then the day after that you send your bill and 120 days later you get a cheque.

CIN EM ATIC HEROES AND HEROINES SAT 24 APR 2021 CONCERT HALL, QPAC PROGRAM | CINEMATIC I CONTENTS WELCOME 1 IF YOU'RE NEW TO THE ORCHESTRA 2 LISTENING GUIDE 6 ARTIST BIOGRAPHY 14 SUPPORTING YOUR ORCHESTRA 24 MUSICIANS AND MANAGEMENT 26 II PROGRAM | CINEMATIC WELCOME A long time ago, in a galaxy far, far away… a room full of musicians donned some wacky costumes and performed their favourite movie music. It’s my absolute pleasure to welcome you to our annual CINEMATIC concert and tell you why this concert means so much to me. Music can create tension or joy and keep you on the edge of your seat, and films have an incredible way of weaving story and music together to keep your eyes glued to the screen. Many film composers use the full might of a symphony orchestra to make audiences feel something, but the film industry can’t be credited for inventing emotional, edge-of-your-seat music. Classical music has been manipulating your emotions for hundreds of years, long before the invention of cinema. So, if you love movie music, you love classical music! When someone says to me, “I don’t understand classical music,” I say, “Yes, you do - you just don’t know it yet!” This year’s concert theme is Heroes and Heroines and as a horn player there are some fun horn features to look forward to. Many film scores give us a moment to shine - look out for us in the back left of the stage pumping out some heroic music from Star Wars, The Man From Snowy River and Gladiator.
