All are set for fourth quarter 2016 release dates. GTR MAILBAG By Chuck Herrmann REAL WORLD First Female F1 Driver Passes Away From motorsport.com First is the Porsche 934RSR, two different kits. 07031 is the Jägermeister car, while 07032 is the Valliant version. (yes, this appears to be the same subject that Tamiya has recently released, in both markings! Too bad they couldn’t fill in some other gaps in the Porsche timeline…) Maria Teresa de Filippis, best known for having become Formula 1's first-ever female driver in the 1950s, has passed away at the age of 89. -

Lella Lombardi March 26, 1943- March 3, 1992 Nationality: Italian Raced between 1975-1988 Origins: Maria Grazia “Lella” Lombardi was born in a small Italian village outside Turin in the midst of World War II. She came from modest means, with her father supporting the family through his work as town butcher. Growing up in rural Italy, Lella did not have much exposure to racing, or even cars, since her family’s fastest means of transportation was a 10-speed bicycle. Little did she know an injury during her teenage-years would lead her to a life of speed and adventure. Early Influences: Lombardi was a competitive and fearless child, excelling at the physically demanding sport of handball. Rumor has it that Lella’s first automobile experience was the result of a handball injury. Anecdotal evidence says Lombardi suffered a broken nose during a heated handball match and had to be driven to the nearest hospital. Instead of being concerned about her injury, Lombardi was awed by her first car ride. Impressed by the auto’s speed and driver’s ability to maneuver the busy streets of her hometown, she dreamed of one day having a car of her own and a racing career. A few years later, Lella finally saved up enough money to afford driving lessons and honed her skills behind the wheel of her boyfriend’s car. After passing her driving test, she bought a second-hand Fiat and began looking for racing opportunities. By coincidence Lombardi was introduced to a race car driver and began working with him, determined to learn all she could about the sport. -

Download (PDF, 724KB) Back Home Map of the original Watkins Glen Grand Prix Circuit, 1948 - 1952 White House S, Collier Monument, Schoolhouse Corner, Cornett Stone Bridge, Archie Smith Straight Railroad Corner, Monk's Corner, Big Bend, Milliken Corner, Start/Finish Line Original Circuit: 1948 - 1952 Self Guided Tour American Highway Race was revived in Watkins Glen, New Jersey on October 2, 1948, the first road race run since World War II. The 6.6-mile chain ran through the streets of the village, starting and ending in front of Schuyler County Court House. Permits from six government agencies are required for the closure of public roads for this event; State, County, Village, Reading, Dix and the New York State Parks Commission. It was also necessary to have permission from the New York Central Railroad to stop the trains during the race as the course crossed the tracks. The track was used for races from 1948 to 1952. Unchanged, it could be toured today as a public road. For those who were here in the early days, it is a sentimental journey. For those who have never been here, this is a lesson in the history of motorsport. The attractions listed below are also on our map of the original circuit. -

Abstract: The Karl E. Ludvigsen papers 1905-2011 contain his extensive research files, photographs, and prints on a wide variety of automotive topics. The papers reflect the complexity and breadth of Ludvigsen’s work as an author, researcher, and consultant. Approximately 70,000 of his photographic negatives have been digitized and are available on the Revs Digital Library. Thousands of undigitized prints in several series are also available but the copyright of the prints is unclear for many of the images. Ludvigsen’s research files are divided into two series: Subjects and Marques, each focusing on technical aspects, and were clipped or copied from newspapers, trade publications, and manufacturer’s literature, but there are occasional blueprints and photographs. Some of the files include Ludvigsen’s consulting research and the records of his Ludvigsen Library. Scope and Content Note: The Karl E. Ludvigsen papers are organized into eight series. The series largely reflects Ludvigsen’s original filing structure for paper and photographic materials. Series 1. Subject Files [11 filing cabinets and 18 record center cartons] The Subject Files contain documents compiled by Ludvigsen on a wide variety of automotive topics, and are in general alphabetical order. -

! 1980 Tyrrell 010 Chassis No: 010/2 • A competitive and useable ground effect entry to the flourishing FIA Historic Formula One Championship, with a sister 010 taking six wins so far this season. • Raced for 11 Grand Prix in 1980 by Derek Daly with a 4th at the British Grand Prix. • Driven in 1981 by Ricardo Zunino and Eddie Cheever, with another 4th at the British Grand Prix for Cheever. • HSCC Historic Formula 1 Champion with Richard Peacock in 1989. • In the current ownership for the last 10 years, with minimal use. The Tyrrell Racing Organisation is a name that rings out with some of the all time Formula 1 greats, with three Formula 1 World Championships and one Constructors Championship to its name. It’s founder, Ken Tyrrell first came into racing in 1958 when he ran three Formula 3 cars for himself and a couple of local stars. Ken soon realised that he was not destined to be a racing driver and stood down from driving duties in 1959, instead to focus on running a Formula Junior team from a woodshed owned by his family business, Tyrrell Brothers. Tyrrell ran a variety of cars in the lower formulas through the 1960s, giving drivers like John Surtees, Jacky Ickx and most notably Jackie Stewart their single seater debuts. In 1968, Tyrrell’s involvement with Matra in Formula 2 was stepped up to the main stage of Formula 1, where Ken ran Matra International, a joint venture between Tyrrell and Matra. They had many wins with Stewart in the MS10 during ’68. -
