Head Baseball Coach Ron Riggle is currently in his 25th season coaching the LLCC Loggers, with this being his 13th season as head coach. In addition to his coaching duties, Ron has served as the college’s athletic director since 1997. In this role, he takes a keen interest in the success of each athletic program at the college, working diligently to attract and retain gifted, hard-working student athletes to LLCC. While coaching at Lincoln Land, Coach Riggle has been a driving force in the continued success of the program, including the NJCAA Championship teams in 1994 and 2000 and the 1993, 1995 and 2014 NJCAA national tournament teams. During Riggle’s LLCC coaching career, the Loggers have won more than 700 games. Coach Riggle’s expertise and enthusiasm are built on the foundation of his own successes as a student athlete in both high school and college. The former Springfield high school All-City pitcher still holds a number of city records including a perfect 0.00 ERA record for All-City performances. Riggle won a record 13 games as a senior at Springfield High School. He won 14 games as a starter for the Loggers during the 1987- 1988 seasons at LLCC. After Lincoln Land, Riggle went on to pitch for Coastal Carolina University in Myrtle Beach, S.C. He pitched on the team that won back-to- back Big South Conference championships in 1989 and 1990. Ron and his wife, Angie, currently reside in Springfield and are the proud parents of Seth (20), Noah (18), Connor (17) and Becca (8). JUSTIN KNOEDLER Assistant Baseball Coach Justin Knoedler is entering his fifth year as a coach for the Loggers. He has been affiliated with the baseball program for the past 15 years in multiple capacities. Knoedler is a local native and a graduate of Springfield High School. He attended Lincoln Land from 1999-2000 along with his twin brother Jason. They helped lead the Loggers to their second national championship in 2000 and Justin was named the NJCAA Player of the Year. After LLCC, he attended Miami University in Oxford, Ohio, for one year and was then drafted in the fifth round of the MLB draft by the San Francisco Giants. Knoedler caught 10 seasons in professional baseball for six different MLB organizations, including the A’s, Cardinals, Marlins, White Sox and Dodgers. He made his Major League debut in September of 2004 with the Giants. Knoedler currently holds the LLCC career home run record of 34 and was inducted into the LLCC Sports Hall of Fame in 2010. Coach Knoedler brings a wealth of knowledge and experience to the program. He began his coaching with the Loggers in his off seasons, as he prepared for his own playing season. Knoedler primarily works every day with the hitters and catchers and also plays a vital role in the development of the in-season and off-season strength and conditioning programs. He is currently the LLCC Fitness Center Coordinator and a private instructor at Body Symmetry. Knoedler resides in Springfield with his wife, Ann, and two dogs Kramer and Cooper. www.lincolnlandloggers.com 3 DANNY MCGEE Assistant Baseball Coach Danny McGee is in his 13th season as a coach for the Loggers. September 10, 2016 Cubs.com Lester, Bryant lower Cubs' magic number to 7 By Brian McTaggart and Jordan Ray HOUSTON -- He could have been an Astro, and on Friday night, Cubs third baseman Kris Bryant served up a reminder of the kind of impact he could have had at Minute Maid Park. Bryant, taken by the Cubs as the No. 2 overall pick in the 2013 Draft after the Astros passed on him with the top pick, clubbed a two-run homer in the fifth inning to back seven scoreless from Jon Lester to send the Cubs to a 2-0 win over the Astros, lowering Chicago's magic number to 7. "It still feels like we're just right in the middle of the season, but we feel like we're getting to baseball that actually really matters," Bryant said. "Anything can happen in the full season, so you've got to get there first, and we certainly feel like we're playing really good baseball right now." The Astros have lost three in a row and remain 2 1/2 games back in the race for the second American League Wild Card spot behind both the Orioles and Tigers, who drew even on Friday with Detroit's 4-3 win over Baltimore. "We did have some chances," Astros manager A.J. Hinch said. "Lester's a good pitcher and he has a way of finding himself out of these jams. We did get the leadoff runner on about half the innings against Lester but couldn't quite get the big hit.
