Love Incarnate Her Holiness Satguru Sri Mata Amritanandamayi Devi Love Incarnate Her Holiness Satguru Sri Mata Amritanandamayi Devi Love is the glory and beauty of life, Amma’s mission is to demonstrate pure selfless love to the world and to awaken that divine love in people. …. AMMA Name of the student: ………………………………………………………………………………………. Class: ………………………………….. Section: ……………………………………. ‘When we pray for others, the entire Universe prays for us; and when we bless others, the whole Universe blesses us, because Man is one with the Cosmic Energy.’ --- AMMA Amrita International Vidyalayam, Bengaluru Page 1 If you walk through a field of soft grass a path is formed over time. Whereas, it would take countless trips up and down a stony hillside in order to wear away a trail. In the same way, a child’s character can easily be moulded. Children need loving care, but at the same time we should not forget to discipline them. Faith in God should be instilled in them as well as love for the entire creation. ■ AMMA Amrita International Vidyalayam, Bengaluru Page 2 Introduction Mata Amritanandamayi Math has a national network of 65 value based schools all over India. Amrita International Vidyalayam is the first International school started and blessed by Her Holiness Satguru Sri Mata Amritanandamayi Devi. Amrita International Vidyalayam offers IB PYP curriculum for classes till Grade V. The IB Primary Years Programme (PYP), nurtures and develops young students as caring, active participants in a lifelong journey of learning. Through its inquiry-led, transdisciplinary framework, the PYP challenges students to think for themselves and take responsibility for their learning as they explore local and global issues and opportunities in real-life contexts. At Amrita International Vidyalayam, we believe that it is very important for children to learn about our Indian culture and heritage to be able to respect and appreciate the oneness and the uniqueness of all cultures of the world. The effort is to nurture active, involved, compassionate, global citizens who will work together for a shared purpose and take positive action for change. School Vision: We envision a world that is cloaked in the strength of knowledge that is able to discriminate. We envision a system, which is a healthy breeding ground for the sprouting, culturing and dissemination of the whole gamut of knowledge in a wholesome and holistic manner for the well-being of mankind. We envision a human being empowered with wholesome knowledge, which makes him an enabler and facilitator in the deep search and striving of every human being for that knowledge. We train our learners to be a part of that world by providing a student centric learning. We envision a methodology where there is a great inter play and exchange of ideas, thoughts, feelings and actions which develop people empowered with noble character, and wholesome values. Our learners will be exposed to the attitudes and skills that they will need to become a responsible citizen of the world through a broad based curriculum and engagement in global matters. • The Miracle of Self Realization: Why God, Guru and the Self Are One and the Same?
WORKING PAPER NO: 434 The Miracle of Self Realization: Why God, Guru and the Self are One and the Same? Ramnath Narayanaswamy Professor Economics & Social Science Indian Institute of Management Bangalore Bannerghatta Road, Bangalore – 5600 76 Ph: 080-26993137 [email protected] Year of Publication -November 2013 The Miracle of Self Realization: Why God, Guru and the Self are One and the Same? Abstract This contribution is rooted in Indian spirituality, more specifically in the tradition of Advaita Vedanta or the philosophy of non-dualism. In this paper, an attempt is made to outline the biggest miracle of all, namely, the miracle of self realization. In Indian spirituality, it constitutes the very purpose of our birth as human beings. This purpose lies in self revelation and if this is not successfully pursued then the current life is said to have been wasted from a spiritual point of view. We discuss three concepts that are central to Indian spirituality. These include, God, Guru and the Self. Our purpose is to demonstrate that all three terms designate one Reality. We anchor ourselves on the pronouncements of Sri Ramana Maharishi, who was one of the greatest sages of India, who left his mortal coil in the last century. For this purpose, we have selected some excerpts from one of the most celebrated works in Ramana literature known as Talks which was put together by Sri Mungala Venkatramiah and subsequently published by Sri Ramanasramam in Tiruvannamalai. It is a veritable Bible for Ramana devotees and widely regarded as such. The central challenge in all management is realizing the nature of oneself.
