ISBN 81-208-2027-4, Rs 295.00 Reviewed by Kazimieras Seibutis Sri Aurobindo Cultural Center, Vilnius Any book about such a challenging matter as Advaita Vedanta is fascinating, therefore it is no wonder that reading a short introduction on the subject by Arvind Sharrna is an exciting experience indeed, not only because the author manages to avoid getting involved in conflicting aspects of different schools of classical intellectual trend of India that is not yet widely known in the West, but also because the subject matter is presented in a condensed and very succinct manner. Sharrna, Birks Professor of Comparative Religion at McGill University, attempts to over­ come this challenge by consistently relying on three approaches: scriptural, rational and experiential. Sharma says that he "tries to accord an independent status to each of these approaches without losing sight of their interconnectedness". In a short preface prior to the analysis, Sharma calls the readers' attention to a fundamental fact that in the West philosophy represents an intellectual movement which has achieved an independent status by shaking off constrains of theology. Meanwhile, within the framework of Indian culture such a divergence between philosophy and religion did not occur, and according to Sharma "the two, even when they become dual, remain undivided." Sharrna also draws attention to the concept of jfvanmukti and the pivotal idea, which supports the concept of jfvanmukti, that the results of one's faith can be attained while still living in this world.

It is observed that the more we rise in science and technology, the less we care about protecting and maintaining our environment. Indiscriminate, improper and injudicious use of environment will result in mother nature deviating from its original path and cause hazard to human life and property in the form of disasters. Chikkamagaluru district is one of the hazard prone district in Karnataka on account of landslides, drought, floods etc. The whole of the district has faced unprecedented rains in August 2019 and 2020 which has resulted in loss of human lives and destruction of property which has taught a lesson of prudence and sustainable growth to human beings. This District Disaster Management Plan devises a strategy for reducing the hazards and dangers of all kinds of disasters and accidents. It is a dedicated effort by the DDMA, Chikkamagaluru to prepare a comprehensive District Disaster Management Plan under the leadership of the District Administration. It contains the District Profile, an assessment of vulnerability and a list of possible disasters, risk assessment, the institutional and infrastructural mechanism for facing such disasters, the preparedness of the district to overcome the disasters, an effective communication plan containing the contact numbers of Officers and the standard operating procedures for effectively dealing with the disasters which are likely to occur.

As long as individuality continues as human being, actions will follow and it will eventually lead to knowledge. According to the Dhatupatha the word yajna derives from yaj* in Sanskrit language that broadly means, [a] worship of GODs (natural forces), [b] synchronisation between various domains of creation and [c] charity.1 The concept of God differs from religion to religion. College of Agriculture, Sardarkrushinagar Dantiwada Agricultural University, Sardarkrushinagar, Gujarat ARTICLE ID: 001 Abstract The intensive chemical agriculture that has been followed after successful green revolution in our country is causing heavy pollution of our soil, food, drinking water and air. The harmful chemicals are ingested into the body when we eat food grown under these conditions. The answer to our problems lies in Agnihotra Organic Farming. Agni means „fire‟ Hotra means „healing‟. It‟s written in the Vedas that “HEAL THE ATMOSPHERE AND IT WILL HEAL YOU”. The most significant aspect of Agnihotra is that it combines the energies of five elements sun, space, air, water and earth to produce subtle changes in the living organisms and helps to restore the bio-rhythm. Agnihotra is the basic HOMA for all HOMA fire practices given in the ancient Vedic sciences of bioenergy, psychotherapy, medicine, agriculture, biogenetics, climate engineering and interplanetary communication. Agnihotra can be referred as a non-convectional approach as it reduces microbial count and toxic gases in air and improve atmospheric quality. It increases plant growth, yield and quality parameter. Application of Agnihotra ash and biosol improve soil quality by increasing beneficial soil microorganism. It lowers the incidence of pest and diseases as well as heals the atmosphere by preventing it from minimizing the use of chemical fertilizer which are toxic for human, plant and livestock health. Agnihotra ash also work to purify water and make it suitable for agricultural use.

The Rasa, the aesthetic experience, lies in the conscious­ ness, is experienced by the consciousness and in a way it itself is experiencing state of consciousness: As in Tantric metaphysics, one Tattva, Siva, manifests itself in the forms of other tattvas, so the one Rasa, the Santa rasa, assumes the forms of other rasas and finally dissolves in itself. But to the astonishment of Lord Kumara Swamy all the pieces reunited to give rise to Taraka. Kumara Swamy repeatedly broke the body into pieces and it was re-unified again and again. This confused Lord Kumara Swamy and was in an embarrassed state then Lord Sriman-Narayana appeared before him and said “Kumara! Don’t get depressed, without breaking the Shiva lingham worn by the asura you can’t kíll him” you should first break the Shiva lingam into pieces, then only you can kíll Taraka Lord Vishnu also said that after breaking, the shiva lingha it will try to unite. To prevent the Linga from uniting, all the pieces should be fixed in the place where they are fallen by worshiping them and erecting temples on them. By taking the word of Lord Vishnu, Lord Kumara Swamy used his Aagneasthra (weapon of fire) to break the Shiva lingha worn by Taraka, Once the Shiva lingha broke into five pieces and was trying to unite by making Omkara nada (Chanting Om).
