It is also known as the decimal system. Depending on how these numbers are arranged determines the value of the number. For example, digits 4, 7, and 2 placed together (472) represent the number four hundred seventy-two. A decimal point (.) separates whole numbers, or units, from fractional num- bers, or fractional units. All numbers on the left side of the decimal point are considered whole numbers. All numbers placed on the right of the decimal point are considered fractional units, or less than one whole unit. The following num- ber line shows the relationship of Arabic numerals based on their position in a number. The provisions contained herein are issued by authority of the Director General of the Civil Aviation Authority of the Philippines and will be complied with by all concerned.
