Celebrate fall with a cornucopia of fun at the annual Harvest Fest featuring live music, children’s activities, food and beverages on Sept. 28 at Fishel Park (p. 9). Participate in our all-new Scarecrow Contest at Lyman Woods, trick-or-treat at the Blodgett House Boo Fest or get spooked at the Specters & Spirits event for adults at the Downers Grove Museum (p. 6). The free Movie in the Park will show “Frozen” with a special appearance from the Ice Princess and her sister (p. 6)! New this year—the Link Before & After School program is offering discounted rates on over 20 Park District programs to help connect your kiddo to recreation-based activities in a fun, safe environment (p. 56-57). Early childhood programs have been expanded to include new reading and sign language programs and Zumbini music and From left to right: dance programs (p. 51-53). An all-new event—the Superintendent’s Revenge: Four-person Scramble—will include contests and dinner (p. 12). A new playground will be installed at Hoopers Hollow Park by November. Interior renovations at the 1846 Pioneer Blodgett House will be completed PARK & FACILITY by the end of 2019 and will provide a new free amenity at the IMPROVEMENT Downers Grove Museum. New paved paths are coming to Whitlock Park this fall as well! This contest is open to all organizations, civic groups and businesses, Free!so rally up your Scout Troop, local club or officemates. Groups can choose to construct either a traditional scarecrow, or a sharecrow, a scarecrow made with wildlife-friendly edible ingredients. Prizes will be available in different categories, and scarecrows will be displayed along the trails at Lyman Woods through October for all to see!
