It attaches to any aluminum, stainless steel, or ABS back plate and provides added comfort for your back. The top portion of the pad weaves into the shoulder straps on the back plate, and the lower portion of the pad attaches to the crotch strap slot with the attached webbing loop. The loop can be quickly unattached so that the pad can be lifted up for ease in attaching wing nuts when using double cylinders. The pad also has drainage holes at the bottom. Specifications The pad is made with a 400 denier nylon front with 1,000 denier Cordura nylon, quick- drain holes on the back, and hydrophobic foam throughout. Attaching the lumbar pad The lumbar pad can be attached to any hard back plate. The webbing loops at the top of the pad attach to the shoulder straps and the webbing loop at the bottom of the pad attach to the crotch strap slot on the back plate. To attach the lumbar pad: 1. Remove the weight stops, D-rings, epaulets, shoulder pads, and chest strap from one shoulder strap so that there is nothing attached to the webbing strap. Leave the other strap intact to use as a guide when reattaching the hardware, etc. 2. Pull the shoulder strap through the top slot of the back plate. Do not pull the strap through the slanted slot. 3. Slip the shoulder webbing strap through the outer loop of the webbing piece sewn to the top of the back of the pad. Sewn webbing loops. Slip shoulder straps through these loops. 4. Slide the pad down the shoulder strap until the sewn webbing loop rests between the upper slot and the slanted slot on the back plate. Reattach the weight stops, D-rings, epaulet, shoulder pad, and chest strap. Use the other shoulder strap as a guide or see “Reattaching the weight stops, D- rings, epaulets, shoulder pads, and chest strap to the shoulder straps” for details. 7. Repeat steps 1 to 6 for the other shoulder strap. 8. Weave the webbing loop at the bottom of the pad through the 1-inch crotch strap slot on the back plate. Note: If you are using a 2-inch crotch strap, you must weave a weight stop onto the crotch strap and place it at the back plate where the crotch strap attaches. The weight stop is used to attach the webbing loop on the pad because the 1-inch slot on the back plate is covered when using the 2-inch crotch strap. Once the weight stop is in place, weave the webbing loop at the bottom of the pad through the weight stop. See diagram below. 9. Pull the loose end of the webbing loop until the strap is tight and the pad is resting against the back plate. 04JUN06 User Product Data Sheet 2 / 5 BC-1035 - Back Plate Lumbar Pad Reattaching the weight stops, D-rings, epaulets, shoulder pads, and chest strap to the shoulder straps 1. Weave one stainless steel weight stop onto each shoulder strap. Position them near the top of the back plate. 2. Slide the shoulder pads onto each shoulder strap so that the Velcro end rests against the top of the back plate. The webbing should pass through one of the two webbing loops (top or bottom) at the top of the shoulder pad. This holds the shoulder pad in place. The top loop corresponds to the larger of the two sizes and the lower loop makes the harness the smaller of the two sizes. Note: Portions of these instructions may not apply depending on which back plate system you are using. 3. Weave each floating epaulet onto the shoulder strap between the upper and lower loops on the shoulder pad. Run the shoulder strap through the lower webbing loop on the shoulder pad. 4. Attach a second stainless weight stop on each shoulder strap. Position each weight stop so that they sit on the front of the shoulder straps, just below the bottom loop on the shoulder pad. 5. Weave the loose end of each shoulder strap through the pivot rings (where the chest strap attaches) on the harness. User Product Data Sheet 04JUN06 BC-1035 - Back Plate Lumbar Pad 3 / 5 6. Weave the loose end of the shoulder strap through one side of the stainless weight stop, add one bent D-ring, and continue weaving the strap through the other side of the weight stop. 7. Weave the rigid bent D-ring onto the loose end of the shoulder strap, back through the epaulet, and then through the stainless steel weight stop. 04JUN06 User Product Data Sheet 4 / 5 BC-1035 - Back Plate Lumbar Pad Moving the lumbar pad to attach wing nuts for doubles You can easily move and then reattach the lumbar pad to access the bolts and attach wing nuts when using double cylinders.
