Its aim is to improve sustainable access and mobility in the cross-border programme area. Within the framework of this project, we prepared a study on public transport proposing the steps, based on an analysis of the current situation, to improve the system of transport connections in public transport with regard to the needs of the passengers in the cross-border area. The study was made in the towns of Gorizia/Gorica and Muggia/Milje close by the Slovenian-Italian border. With the state border drawn after the Second World War these two towns were cut off from their hinterlands. Proceeding from the analyses of the revitalized traffic flows, we propose a new common organization of public transport in which municipalities on both sides of the state border would participate. Keywords: cross-border cooperation, public passenger transport, Slovenia, Italy 1. INTRODUCTION The land border between Slovenia and Italy is more than 200 km long. National roads cross it at nineteen points, and the railway at two. In contrast to increasing personal transport, cross-border public transport stagnates or even decreases. Slovenia and Italy are no longer directly connected by means of railway passenger transport, and regional, or local, bus transport crosses the border at only four points. -

E-mail: [email protected] Abstract: Two hundred forty-eight specimens of Gymnura micrura, 154 Dasyatis guttata and 24 Dasyatis marianae were sampled. G. micrura and D. guttata juveniles represented 78 and 88% of the sample, respectively, whereas all D. marianae individuals were adults. The maturity size of G. micrura males and females was estimated from 27 to 30 cm disk width (DW) and 34 to 36 cm DW, respectively. The maturity size of D. guttata males and females was estimated from 41 to 46 cm DW and 50 to 55 cm DW, respectively. Birth size of G. micrura was estimated between 15 and 17.4 cm DW, the one of D. guttata between12.3 and 15.3 cm DW and the one of D. marianae between 13 and 14 cm DW. Female rays appeared to mature at larger sizes than males and reached a larger maximum size. -

Specifically, it summarizes the present status of elasmobranchs and chimaeras bycatch worldwide. Following this, it illustrates the main ecological consequences behind such incidental captures. Hence, it provides a description of how chondrichthyes bycatch occurs across broad fishing gear categories. Moreover, it outlines potential mitigation options available to reduce bycatch. As such, the main technical measures tested and applied in different fishing practices are listed. -

Ethnic Structure of Slovenes in Neighboring
ETHNIC STRUCTURE OF SLOVENIA AND SLOVENES IN NEIGHBOURING COUNTRIES Jernej Zupan~i~ Slovenes belong among the less numerous nations of the world and of Europe, and the Slovene lan- guage is among the less widespread languages. However, Slovene communities are historically recognized and acknowledged, ethnically and culturally vital, and spatially stabile. Of the some 2.5 million Slovenes and persons of Slovene ethnic origin, almost one third live outside Slovenia. Identification according to ethnic background is very difficult, especially among the second and later generations of emigrants, because the most recognizable sign and simultaneously the symbol of Slovene ethnicity, the language, has often already been replaced by the language of the area in which they live. However, the culture and consciousness of belonging has preserved. About 1,800,000 Slovenes live in Slovenia (during the 2002 census, 1,632,000 people identified themselves as Slovene. Because of the methodology used for this census, the number of members of most ethnic groups dropped significantly. The ethnicity of some 200,000 people was not established at all because it was unknown, they did not wish to identify themselves by ethnicity, etc. We therefore give, if possible, estimates for the number of individuals in ethnic minorities.), and the rest live in neighbouring countries as members of minori- ties and as immigrants in various countries around the world. Autochthonous Slovene minorities live in the border areas of all the neighbouring countries. In Italy, Slovenes occupy 1,500 km2 of the terri- tory in Friuli-Venezia Giulia, where between 83,000 and 100,000 Slovenes live according to Slovene estimates, and 52,000 according to official (Italian) estimates.
