  • April 3Rd 2021 Holy Saturday at the Easter Vigil in the Holy Night of Easter
April 3rd 2021 Holy Saturday At the Easter Vigil in the Holy Night of Easter Blessing Of Fire & Paschal Candle Procession Of Paschal Candle Deacon: Lumen Christi-------------The Light of Christ (3x) All: Deo Gratias---------------Thanks be to God (3x) Easter Proclamation Reading I: Genesis 1:1-2:2 Creation (Sung) Reading 2: Exodus 14:15-15:1 Exodus (Sung) Reading 3: Isaiah 55:1-11 Thus says the LORD: All you who are thirsty, come to the water! You who have no money, come, receive grain and eat; come, without paying and without cost, drink wine and milk! Why spend your money for what is not bread, your wages for what fails to satisfy? Heed me, and you shall eat well, you shall delight in rich fare. Come to me heedfully, listen, that you may have life. I will renew with you the everlasting covenant, the benefits assured to David. As I made him a witness to the peoples, a leader and commander of nations, so shall you summon a nation you knew not, and nations that knew you not shall run to you, because of the LORD, your God, the Holy One of Israel, who has glorified you. Seek the LORD while he may be found, call him while he is near. Let the scoundrel forsake his way, and the wicked man his thoughts; let him turn to the LORD for mercy; to our God, who is generous in forgiving. For my thoughts are not your thoughts, nor are your ways my ways, says the LORD. As high as the heavens are above the earth, so high are my ways above your ways and my thoughts above your thoughts.

  • Bulletin First Sunday in Lent, Year B — 21 February 2021
INCORPORATING THE PARISHES OF ⧫ Cathedral of St Francis Xavier, Wollongong ⧫ Co-Cathedral of St John Vianney, Fairy Meadow ⧫ Mater Dolorosa, Balgownie ⧫ St Brigid’s, Gwynneville CONFIRMATION PROGRAMME Dear Parishioners, Parents and Caregivers, The goal of Lent is to acquire a pattern of thought and action that enables us to follow Jesus in his Exodus from the sorrows of this earthly existence to the glory of his Resurrection. In Lent we focus more intently on themes such as carefully listening to God’s Word and responding to God’s grace so as to imitate how Jesus related to the Father and his neighbour. Thus we allow room for the meaning of Jesus’ Death and Resurrection to illuminate the significance of our struggle with temptation to evil, our experiences of suffering, and our call to serve others even at personal cost. The ultimate goal of Lent, however, is Pentecost. The Resurrection celebrated at Easter comes to its fullness in the outpouring of the Holy Spirit upon the first members of the Church. The Gift of the Spirit loosened the tongues and emboldened the hearts of the Apostles to speak of the Resurrected Lord. It was a new beginning for the disciples of the Lord. It is also a new beginning that gives us speech and impels us to proclaim the Good News of Jesus’ Resurrection to the world. This mission is entrusted to every Confirmed member of the Church. The same Holy Spirit who strengthened the first disciples and sent them into their world, strengthens and sends us into our world. As we are revitalised by this sacred time of Lent, let us pray for the younger members of our Church who will soon commence their preparation for the Sacrament of Confirmation.

Will and I wanted to start a series on what it means RECONCILIATION to discern the movements within our hearts. This is a method created by St. Ignatius of Loyola TIMES to help us see whether the inspiration that we are receiving comes from God, ourselves or the temptations of the evil one. This can get very confusing at times, so the Holy Spirit led St. WEEKEND Ignatius of Loyola to develop 14 rules of discernment to help us to stick close to God and His Sat. 5:15 pm will. Over the next few weeks, we will look at these rules. Sun. 7:30, 9:00 & 10:45 am Rule 1 is defined as this: In the persons who go from mortal sin to mortal sin, the enemy WEEKDAY is commonly used to propose to them apparent pleasures, making them imagine M, T, Th & F 9 am sensual delights and pleasures in order to hold them more and make them grow in their W 7 am & 5:30 pm vices and sins. • Holy Week in the Home
This resource has been compiled by a mom/family who attends the Traditional Latin Mass. It was created with great care but it is not meant to replace Holy Liturgies. The blessings made in the home following these liturgies are only to provide a learning resource for the family as we observe the most fruitful time of the year as never before - under orders to stay home during this epidemic. They are not valid blessings -- Missa Sicca (Dry Mass). We will be following the Pre-1955 liturgies for Holy Week. Below is an overview of our Holy Week Plans. It does not include any activity/craft that we will be doing with our children. It’s solely focused on immersing ourselves deeper into the liturgies and ceremonies of this holy week. We did not create any printable as holy religious have already done so. The booklets are linked with each week. Some commentary (based on Regina Coeli House) is provided on this sheet. It is to be used in union with the commentary (of Blessed Adolph Schuster) provided in the linked booklets. The linked booklets for the traditional liturgies are in Latin & English. We will adapt our home observance based on both commentaries and the liturgies. The head of the home (Dad) and boys will be serving as priests/deacons/altar servers. Mom and daughters will not be serving in any of these roles (aside from singing when needed) even though it is a Dry Mass and informal ceremonies. You will also find a brief list of items that you could collect around your home to assist in your observance of this Holy Week in the Home.

I believe in one Lord, Jesus Christ, the only Begotten Son of God, born of the Father before all ages. God from God, Light from Light, true God from true God, begotten not made, consubstantial with the Father; through him all things were made. For us men and for our salvation, he came down from heaven: and by the power of the Holy Spirit was incarnate of the Virgin Mary and became man. For our sake he was crucified under Pontius Pilate, he suffered death and was buried and rose again on the third day in accordance with the Scriptures. He ascended into heaven and is seated at the right hand of the Father. He will come in glory to judge the living and the dead, and His kingdom will have no end. I believe in the Holy Spirit, the Lord, the giver of life, who proceeds from the Father and the Son, who with the Father and the Son he is adored and glorified, who has spoken through the prophets. I believe in one, holy, catholic and apostolic Church. I confess one baptism for the forgiveness of sins and I look for the resurrection of the dead, and the life of the world to come. Amen.
