The dikes clearly follow faults which trend mainly N50-70W and N20-40W. Their thicknesses vary from 1 cm to 3 m and their contacts with the host granitic rocks are sharp without any extensive contact metamorphism which may be due to the lack of magmatic fluids. The Jebal-E-Barez mafic dikes contain plagioclase, clinopyroxene and amphibole as major minerals and overall show porphyritic texture, but intergranular, ophitic and subophitic textures are also visible. The amphiboles are classified mainly as paragasite and tschermakite. These are magmatic, as indicated by Si content of the studied mafic dikes. Based on Al-in-hornblende geothermobarometry, average crystallization pressures are estimated from 5.25 to 7.07 kbar and temperatures from 867 to 872 °C. -

It is well-documented that standard amounts of fluoride in drinking- water can decrease the rate of dental caries. This study was conducted with the aim of measuring fluoride concentration of drinking-water supplies and urban distribution system in Qom, Iran. Materials and Methods: Results were subsequently compared against national and international standards. All sources of drinking-water of rural and urban areas were examined. To measure fluoride, the standard SPADNS method and a DR/4000s spectrophotometer were used . Results: Results showed that the mean of fluoride concentration in rural areas, mainly supplied with groundwater sources, was 0.41 mg/L, that of the urban distribution system 0.82 mg/L, that of Ali-Abad station 0.11 mg/L, and that of the private water desalination system 0.24 mg/L. -

This study was performed to identify the epidemiological trends of coronavirus disease (COVID-19) in Iran during February 19 to March 22, 2020. Methods This cross sectional study was carried out in 31 provinces by using the daily number of newly infected cases which was announced by the Iranian health authorities from February 19 to March 22, 2020, we explore the trend of outbreak of coronavirus disease in all provinces of Iran and determine some inuential factors such as population size, area, population density, distance from original epicenter, altitude, and human development index (HDI) for each province on its spread by Spearman correlation coecient. K-means cluster analysis (KMCA) also categorized the provinces into 10 separate groups based on CF and ACF of the infected cases at the end of the study period. (ACF). Results There were 21,638 infected, 7,913 recovered and 2,299 death cases with COVID-19 in Iran during the study period. -

Abstract The 1979 Islamic Revolution of Iran was based and formed upon the concept of Khomeinism, the religious, political, and social ideas of Ayatullah Ruhollah Khomeini. While the Iranian revolution was carried out with the slogans of independence, freedom, and Islamic Republic, Khomeini's framework gave it a specific impetus for the unity of people, religious culture, and leadership. Khomeinism was not just an effort, on a religious basis, to alter a national system. It included and was dependent upon the projection of a clash beyond a “national” struggle, including was a clash of ideology with that associated with the United States. Analysing the Iran-US relationship over the past century and Khomeini’s interpretation of it, this thesis attempts to show how the Ayatullah projected "America" versus Iranian national freedom and religious pride. -
Petrology of Eocene Volcanic Rocks in NE of Ordib (NE of Isfahan Province)

Shirdashtzadeh Department of Geology, Faculty of Scinces University of Isfahan (Received: 20/2/2009, in revised form: 9/6/2009) Abstract: Eocene volcanic rocks in NE of Ordib, have a very good exposures near and along the Turkmeni-Ordib fault. These rocks, that are situated in the inner part of the Central Iran and margin of the Yazd block, comprise trachyte, trachy-andesite and basaltic trachy-andesite. Trachy-andesite is the pervasive rock unit. Rock forming minerals of these rocks are chloritized olivine, plagioclase, pyroxene, mica, amphibole, K-feldspar, quartz, ilmenite, magnetite and calcite. The most important mineralogical characteristics of the studied trachy-andesites are wide range of minerals in one rock sample, including two types of clinopyroxene, mica, plagioclase, sanidine, formation of reactionic clinopyroxene and calcite around the quartz, and oscillatory zoning of feldspars and amphiboles. Chemistry of clinopyroxenes and biotites with whole rock geochemical analyses, reveal that these rocks are similar to the continental volcanic arc rocks. Petrography and mineral chemistry demonstrate the magma mixing occurrence in formation of these rocks.
