What Readers Have Said About the Angel Diary: “Thank You for the Opportunity to View Your Manuscript of the Angel Diary Published by The Partnership Machine, Inc., 137 E. Leach <> Des Moines Iowa 50315 www.Saltshaker.US 515/244-3711 Copyright 2006 AD by Dave Leach, all rights reserved This is one of a few copies printed for the purpose of getting readers’ feedback, while seeking a contract with a mainstream publisher. This copy includes manuscript revisions through December 19, 2018 AD What readers have said about The Angel Diary: “Thank you for the opportunity to view your manuscript of The Angel Diary. I have found it to be an exceedingly interesting book. It reminds me of C.S. Lewis’ ‘Screwtape Letters’. It is of that excellence of quality. Your theories shine with purpose. Of course I am a strong believer in the King James Version and have had many scrimmages over it. It is still the most tried and true, and all others are just a counterfeit. So it blesses me that you use King James, and it also blesses me that you write out the Scriptures. You cover many important topics such as ‘The Life of the flesh is in the blood.’ While I take this writing to be ‘fiction’, it is truly thought-provoking with your support from Scripture. May God use this as a tool in your hand to promote the Gospel and to showcase the defeat of our enemy, Lucifer, the once cherished angel who now awaits his final destination – the fires of Hell.” -- Dr. B. L. Rice, Bible College President, pastor of Commerce Community Church, West Des Moines, Iowa “What I've read so far I like. It's a good book. I have it almost read. My husband has read more of it than I have. I have to keep fighting him for the book.” -- Rhonda Paine, Des Moines Iowa (Church background: Fundamentalist) “I think it's delightful.” -- Kris Hoover, Des Moines, Iowa (Catholic) “I'm liking it. I can't read it straight through; Steve is reading it the same time I am and he keeps losing my book mark. I like how much Scripture it has.” -- Kay Stroh, Indianola, Iowa (Baptist) “I like it. I think it is a good starting point for conversation with an unbeliever.” -- Pastor Jewelly Rice, Des Moines, Iowa (Charismatic) “I used to wish I had lived in Bible times and been with people like Jesus and Noah. But in ‘Noah’s Favorite Sermons’, [Book 3], you hit a lot of nails on the head, and I thought about how controversial Jesus was, always arguing with the authorities, and now I’m glad I didn’t live then, because I’m afraid I would have been like ‘Sister Nice’, and would not have stood up for Jesus, but would have gone along with the religious leaders.” -- Thelma Leach, my mother (Assembly of God) Dave Leach published the Prayer & Action News from 1986 to 2015. That, plus his cable TV show which he has hosted from 1995 to 2015, his candidacies for public office, and his controversial, Bible- quoting stands against abortion and sodomy, have gotten him media coverage from local newspapers to CNN International, (mostly untrue and negative), and have gotten him listed in Who’s Who in Media and Communications and Who’s Who in America. At Drake university he did not major in Controversy, but in Music. He owns the Family Music Center in Des Moines, Iowa. Not “a denominational kind of guy”, he has been on the music staff of a variety of churches, and performs as a musician in churches as well as in secular settings. • 1 TIMOTHY 4 Prophetic Forewarning, the Value of Sound Doctrine & Encouragement to Persevere
1 TIMOTHY 4 Prophetic Forewarning, the Value of Sound Doctrine & Encouragement to Persevere vv. 1-5 CONDITIONS IN THE CHURCH IN THE LATTER TIMES [1 Now the Spirit expressly says that in latter times some will depart from the faith, giving heed to deceiving spirits and doctrines of demons, 2 speaking lies in hypocrisy, having their own conscience seared with a hot iron, 3 forbidding to marry, and commanding to abstain from foods which God created to be received with thanksgiving by those who believe and know the truth. 4 For every creature of God is good, and nothing is to be refused if it is received with thanksgiving; 5 for it is sanctified by the word of God and prayer. ] After having given Timothy a description of the qualifications for pastors/overseers/bishops and deacons to promote the spiritual health and growth of the Church; he turns his attention to the future conditions of the Church. Why is this important? Because the Holy Spirit expressly communicates this truth; meaning He speaks clearly and often about this subject. Note that Paul talks about this again in his second letter to Timothy { 2 Tim. 3:1-13 } so it is an extremely important subject for every believer to consider and take seriously. Paul uses a noteworthy term for this period of time—‘in latter times ’. The Greek word for ‘times ’ here means a ‘ set or measured time ’; in other words, at an appropriate time . This is important to note because Paul could have used another word for ‘time’, [‘ chronos ’], which refers to an unspecified period or season of time.

  • Interstate Recognition of Parentage in a Time of Disharmony: Same-Sex Parent Families and Beyond
Interstate Recognition of Parentage in a Time of Disharmony: Same-Sex Parent Families and Beyond COURTNEY G. JOSLIN* In a number of recent cases, litigants have argued that states have the authority to disregard prior parentage adjudications when those determinations violate the forum's law and policy on lesbian and gay parenting. The Article offers two contributions to the analysis of these interstate parentage cases. The first contribution is doctrinal. Drawing upon recent legal scholarship about interstate recognition of adoption judgments, the Article demonstrates that other forms of parentage adjudications, including those made in the context of otherwise modifiable orders such as child custody and support orders, are entitled to exacting respect under the FullFaith and Credit Clause. The second contribution is normative. Thus far, the scholarship on these interstateparentage cases has been limited largely to considerationof their implicationsfor other same-sex parentfamilies. Lesbian and gay parenting is not, however, the only area of parentage law where the states have adopted widely divergent rules based on moral or policy concerns. To the contrary, parentage has become an increasingly contestedarea of law. This Article seeks to fill the gap in the literature by considering the potential ripple effects of these same-sex parent cases in two other areas of parentagelaw--surrogacy and paternity disestablishment. • The Disharmony Within By: Rev. Steven Wirth, Parochial Vicar, St
The Disharmony Within By: Rev. Steven Wirth, Parochial Vicar, St. Joseph’s Catholic Church Published in The Devils Lake Journal September 11, 2020 “I do not do the good I want, but the evil I do not want is what I do” (Rom 8:19). This is an interesting quote from St. Paul’s Letter to the Romans. The context is St. Paul’s description of a war within himself, a war between the law of God and the law of sin. While St. Paul delights in his discovery of this law of God, he still finds himself wrestling internally with his old habits of sin. Can we not all relate to St. Paul’s struggles? We seek to live upright lives and to follow the commandments, especially love of God and love of neighbor. But we struggle! Like St. Paul, we don’t do the good that we seek, but we do the very evil we are trying to avoid. Why is this?! The ancient Greek philosophers also noticed this difficulty. Some like Plato divided the human psyche into different levels with rationality and intellect at the top and our passions and emotions at the bottom. For Plato, the human being who was living his/her best life was the one who put the passions and the emotions under the control of the intellect. In other words, the mind was in charge of the person, not their emotions, urges, and desires. The early Christians took up the philosophers’ theory and merged it with what we know from God’s revelation.

  • Reading the Bible Supernaturally Will Move You to Captivated and Awestruck Worship at the Divine’S Plan for His Word As an Instru- Ment to Magnify His Unrivaled Glory
“Not many books should be recommended for both beginning Bible readers and mature Bible readers, but this is one of them. Utilizing brief and pointed expositions of often overlooked Bible verses, John Piper helpfully explains why we should be reading the Bible, the work of the Spirit in our Bible reading, and the fundamental skills and habits of faithful Bible reading. I cannot imagine a serious Christian who would not benefit from a thoughtful reading of this book.” D. A. Carson, Research Professor of New Testament, Trinity Evangelical Divinity School; Cofounder, The Gospel Coalition “I have been reading the Bible daily for thirty-five years. Reading the Bible Su- pernaturally challenged my motives, effort, and enjoyment. I doubt I will read the Scriptures the same way again. I look forward to deeper and more wonderful times alone in the Word in the days ahead. This book is a must-read for anyone wanting to take Bible study seriously.” Francis Chan, New York Times best-selling author, Crazy Love and Forgotten God “Stunning. Profound. Powerful. Reading the Bible Supernaturally will move you to captivated and awestruck worship at the Divine’s plan for his Word as an instru- ment to magnify his unrivaled glory. Seeing and savoring the God of the Scriptures is an extraordinarily high calling every believer must pursue, and no man can move us to that place quite like John Piper. This book, accessibly written and weighty in content, is so much more than a manual or study guide to the Scriptures. Rather, it’s an invitation to the experience God intended we have with his Word—an experience that is Spirit dependent, faith building, and worship inciting.” Louie Giglio, Pastor, Passion City Church, Atlanta; Founder, Passion Conferences; author, The Comeback “The seemingly mundane topic of reading the Bible ushers us into a world of su- pernatural grace for sinners.
