INLEIDING Sinds 2017 voert visit.brussels het beheerscontract uit dat het met het Brussels Hoofdstedelijk Gewest heeft gesloten. In dit document, dat voor vijf jaar is ondertekend, wordt het kader voor de samenwerking tussen de partijen uiteengezet en worden de richtlijnen voor het op- treden van de vzw vastgesteld. Dit activiteitenrapport 2019 is ingedeeld volgens de artikelen van de beheersovereenkomst en geeft in detail alle uitgevoerde acties en de daarvoor uitgetrokken budgetten weer. De door de acties behaalde resultaten kunnen worden vastgesteld. Deze resultaten zijn in lijn met die van voorgaande jaren: een stijging van de cijfers die tot zeer positieve resultaten hebben geleid. Niet alle verkregen resultaten zijn kwantificeerbaar of meetbaar zoals het aantal toeristische bezoekers. Maar veel meer dan het toeristische bezoekersaantal weerspiegelen zij de verandering van het imago van Brussel zowel op internationaal als op nationaal niveau. Brussel heeft zich geprofileerd als de meest kosmopolitische stad van Europa en de tweede kosmopolitische stad ter wereld. De stad is een ontmoetingsplaats voor culturen die openstaat voor de wereld, waar iedereen zich kan ontplooien, ongeacht zijn of haar persoonlijke ori- entaties en keuzes. Bij visit.brussels geven we energie aan de stad waarin het hart van de wereld klopt, we creëren ervaringen voor zowel bezoekers als bewo- ners, we laten u van Brussel houden. RESULTATEN VAN BRUSSEL Over het algemeen doen de markten van de BRIC-landen het goed. Aan de andere kant werd hun totale groei (+6%) Overnachtingen vertraagd door de daling van de Indiase markt. The March lends visibility to the voices and struggles of the lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender (LGBT) community, and is a commemoration of the Stonewall Riots of June 1969 in New York, USA, that ignited the fight for civil rights by and for LGBT people the world over. In India, the pride marches first began in Kolkata ten years ago, and in recent years have been conducted in Mumbai, Delhi, and Bengaluru. This year, pride marches will be held for the first time in Chennai and Bhubaneswar. These marches are the combined effort of individuals from the LGBT communities, straight allies, and organizations supportive of the cause. A remarkable feature is that they will include families, friends of the LGBT community, and anyone who believes in human rights. The theme of Chennai’s Rainbow Pride march draws on the immortal words of Tamil Poet Bharathiar , வண்ணங்கள வேற்றுமைப்பட்டால், அதில் மானுடர் வேற்றுமையில்லை: Hues may vary but humanity does not! Madras School of Social Work has completed 68 years of glorious service to social work education in the southern region of our great nation. On this happy occasion, I am glad to present a few highlights of the activities of the college in the academic year 2019-20. I am pleased to report that the college was ranked the 3rd Best College for Social Work by Outlook and the 4th Best by India Today for 2019. The National Institutional Ranking Framework of the HRD Ministry ranked our college the 65th among all colleges in the country. HIGHLIGHTS OF THE YEAR This year we had 852 students on the rolls for all courses. 70% of them were women students. 20 external experts were involved in curriculum development through the Boards of Studies and Academic Council. Our students engaged with over 260 organizations for field work and internships. 11 State/National level seminars on an eclectic range of topics such as HR Revamp, Democracy and Citizenship, HR at HELM, Understanding Disadvantage, Dalit Empowerment, Professional Excellence in Mental Health Practices, Child Marriage and Violence against Children and Corporate Social Responsibility were conducted.

    BE CONTEMPORARY BE.BRUSSELS Brussels has been a real crossroads for contemporary art for some years now. In the heart of Europe, the capital city has everything going for it: high-quality artists, numerous collectors, an international audience and great exhibition spaces. The combination of these various criteria is attracting a new wave of galleries, both national and international, which have come to set up in the capital. Thus, galleries, artists, private viewings, exhibitions and fairs are all contributing to the attractiveness and boundless vitality of the city and offering visitors the opportunity to share their passion for art. The WIELS Art Centre has also helped to put Brussels on the world map of contemporary art, while other art centres and private collections are also opening their doors. In the Belgian capital, contemporary art is alive and evolving in all its forms. It’s even spilling out onto the streets and walls of the city. Brussels also intends to fill a gap with the opening, scheduled for 2019, of a Museum of Modern and Contemporary Art. This will probably be housed in a magnificent building with a surface area of 16,000 m² alongside the canal.     Development, Sexual Rights and Global Governance This book addresses how sexual practices and identities are imagined and regulated through development discourses and within institutions of global governance. The underlying premise of this volume is that the global development industry plays a central role in constructing people’s sexual lives, access to citizenship, and struggles for livelihood. Despite the industry’s persistent insistence on viewing sex- uality as basically outside the realm of economic modernization and anti-poverty programs, this volume brings to the fore heterosexual bias within macroeconomic and human rights development frameworks. The work fills an important gap in understanding how people’s intimate lives are governed through heteronormative policies which typically assume that the family is based on blood or property ties rather than on alternative forms of kinship. By placing heteronormativity at the center of analysis, this anthology thus provides a much-needed discussion about the development industry’s role in pathologizing sexual deviance yet also, more recently, in helping make visible a sexual rights agenda. Providing insights valuable to a range of disciplines, this book will be of particu- lar interest to students and scholars of Development Studies, Gender Studies, and International Relations. It will also be highly relevant to development practitioners and international human rights advocates. This cycling tour starts at the biggest Art Deco building of Western Europe, the Basilica of Koekelberg. The tour continues alongside some famous buildings of Brussels, like Flagey or Bozar, but doesn‟t forget the less known Art Deco constructions of the city. ROUTE: 1. The Basilica of the Sacred Heart of Koekelberg The Koekelberg Basilica ranks fifth among the world's largest churches, after the Basilica of Notre-Dame de la Paix in Yamoussokro on the Ivory Coast, St Peter's in Rome, St Paul's in London and Santa Maria Dei Fiori in Florence. Today, the church is in the first place a place of prayer for peace. The church is still used for celebrations of the parish or for big national celebrations. But the basilica is more than that. It has also an important cultural function. It‟s a magnificent Art Deco monument, there are two museums, there are yearly different expositions and you can enjoy a wonderful view over Brussels! At the basilica, there are 500 free parking places. Therefore, its an excellent take off location of this beautiful Art Deco cycling tour. The basilica is also easily accessible by public transport. Visit the impressive interior of the basilica, and go with the elevator to the panorama just under the dome, from where you have an excellent view over Brussels and Brabant. The basilica is open every day, in winter from 10 to 16 hours and in summer from 9 to 17 hours.
