Monroe County has approximately 5,500 students in grades kindergarten through twelve. There are also three pre-kindergarten programs in the school system, one each in Madisonville, Tellico Plains, and Vonore preparing children to enter kindergarten with the foundation and skills they need to be successful. All schools in the system are currently accredited with the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools (SACS). Every school is also deemed a Safe School according to state and federal guidelines.
