OBRADOVIĆ.: GEOMETRIC PROPERTIES OF “FLOWER” CONCAVE ANTIPRISMS OF THE SECOND SORT - INVITED LECTURE - GEOMETRIC PROPERTIES OF THE “FLOWER” CONCAVE ANTIPRISMS OF THE SECOND SORT Marija Obradović University of Belgrade, Faculty of Civil Engineering PhD., Associate Professor, [email protected] ABSTRACT This study presents a continuation of the research on the concave polyhedra of the second sort, adding to this family a new group of related polyhedra. They are formed over a specific type of isotoxal concave polygons that allow geometric arrangement of a double row of equilateral triangles into formations which enclose a deltahedral lateral surface without overlaps and gaps. As in all other representatives of the concave polyhedra of the second sort, we expect to find here the "major" and "minor" type, depending on the way we fold the net. This research has identified both these polyhedra types, which have the same planar net, but are formed over different basic concave polygons. The origination, constructive methods and properties of these solids are elaborated in the paper. Dr. Dr.h.c Hellmuth Stachel im Fakultätsrat der Fakultät für Mathematik und Geoinformation der TU Wien am 20.10.2011 Laudatio von Hans Havlicek Meine sehr geehrten Damen und Herren! Liebe Kolleginnen und Kollegen! Lieber Hellmuth! Seit nunmehr 31 Jahren hält Hellmuth Stachel der Technischen Universität Wien die Treue. Heute, kurz nach seinem 69. Geburtstag, können wir Ihm zur Befreiung von den Dienstpflichten gratulieren. Seine Pflichten und viele andere Tätigkeiten hat er in all diesen Jahren mit größter Gewissenhaftigkeit erfüllt, sei es • als international anerkannter Forscher, • als erfolgreicher Buchautor, • als Begründer, Herausgeber und Mitherausgeber von Fachzeitschriften, • als Organisator von Konferenzen, • als allseits geschätzter Lehrender, • als Koordinator internationaler Kooperationen, • als Institutsvorstand, • als Studienkommissionsvorsitzender, • als Vorsitzender der Fachkommission Mathematik, • als Vertreter der Professoren im Senat und in vielen anderen Funktionen mehr. Werfen wir aber zunächst einen Blick auf seinen Lebensweg: Hellmuth Stachel wurde am 6. Oktober 1942 in Graz geboren. Sein Vater, ein Volks- schullehrer, ist einige Monate nach seiner Geburt als Soldat im zweiten Weltkrieg gefallen. Stachel besuchte die Volksschule in Trofaiach und das Bundes- Realgymnasium in Leoben. Nach Absolvierung der Reifeprüfung begann er das Lehramtsstudium der Mathematik und Darstellenden Geometrie an der Universität und an der Technischen Hochschule in Graz. Der Abschluss dieses Studiums fällt in das Jahr 1965. Es folgte ein Doktoratsstudium an der Universität Graz, in dessen Rahmen Stachel seine Dissertation zum Thema Die beiden Lieschen Geraden-Kugel-Transformationen in synthetischer Behandlung bei Fritz Hohenberg verfasste. Im Jahre 1969 wurde Stachel zum Dr. phil. in Mathe- matik mit den Nebenfächern Astronomie und Philosophie promoviert.
