The borough of Vaksdal is situated between Voss and Dale. The main road between Bergen and Oslo, E16, threads its way through much of the borough, providing good east/west communication. This central situation means that both urban and rural places can be visited and enjoyed. The borough covers a area of 738km2 and is the fifth largest in acreage in the county of Hordaland. The population is approximately 4100. The countryside in the borough varies from high mountains to deep valleys and fjords. The borough enjoys a rich and vibrant variety of organizations, sporting activities, choirs and music societies, the Red Cross, a history society, home crafts, pensioner clubs and several different clubs for all ages working for sharing knowledge and for improving conditions for people needing special care, for example clubs for the physically handicapped, rheumatisms etc.

VINTERTREFFET is an annual event arranged by Vaksdal Entertainment. The festival runs for three days from Thursday to Saturday. There is something for everyone on each day including humour and music. The event also includes a market day as well as a conferance.

The hall consists of a sports arena with a playing surface for handball matches. The floor surface is also marked and equipped for basket ball, volleyball and badminton. The hall can be partitioned off into three halls with dividing walls as needed. The hall has a scene and modest sound equipment, and .also a kitchen and cafe area. On the first floor is a well equipped fitness training room which is open to those over 16 years. On the same floor there is also a room for spinning cycles. On the second floor there is a room for social activities which has a projector and screen and a telecommunications line. There are also two smaller meeting rooms for use by clubs and organizations.
