GOLDEN KNIGHTS LAST GAME RECAP October 4 - Vegas Golden Knights 5, San Jose Sharks 1 Tomas Nosek collected three points (2G, 1A) to help the Vegas Golden Knights claim a 5-1 victory against the San Jose Sharks on Friday night at SAP Center. The win came in goalie Marc-Andre Fleury's 800th NHL game. The Golden Knights quickly silenced the San Jose crowd as William Carrier netted the game's first goal just 5:01 into the contest. Jonathan Marchessault added a goal late in the frame to give the Golden Knights a 2-0 lead at the break. After a back-and-forth start to the second, Brayden McNabb and Nosek scored 1:28 apart to double the Vegas lead to 4-0. Nosek scored again in the third period and, despite a late Sharks goal, the Golden Knights earned a statement 5-1 win.

NOTES FOR TONIGHT Last season against the Bruins Vegas finished the 2018-19 season going 0-1-1 against the Boston Bruins. The Golden Knights lost the first game 4-1 in Boston (Nov. 11) and fell in the second game, but earned a point after losing in a shootout to the Bruins, 3-2, in Las Vegas (Feb. 20). Reilly Smith (1G, 1A) and Cody Eakin (1G, 1A) each finished with multiple points in the two games.

Early Success On The PK In two games this season, the Golden Knights have yet to allow a power-play goal and are one of three teams, joining Carolina and the NY Rangers, as teams who have been shorthanded at least 10 times and have yet to allow a goal. While down an attacker, Vegas has tallied a league-high three goals and recorded the 14th instance of a team scoring a shorthanded goal in each of its first two games to begin a season. Of those instances, only three clubs extended their streak to three contests: DET (1990-91), VAN (1995-96) and NJD (2017-18). Additionally, the Golden Knights’ three shorthanded goals through their first two games to begin 2019-20 matched the highest such total by a team in NHL history, previously accomplished by the Red Wings (2001-02), Oilers (1983-84) and Rangers (1983-84).

Chasing 100 Victories The Golden Knights have a cumulative record of 96-56-14 in 166 regular-season games. Only three franchises have required less than 200 games to reach 100 victories in the regular season, with each entering the League in 1917-18: the original Ottawa Senators (165 GP), Montreal Canadiens (183 GP) and Toronto Maple Leafs (190 GP).

Atop The Pacific Vegas has held a top-three position in the Pacific Division for 79% of their time in the League (301 of 379 days of regular-season play). Since divisions were first introduced in 1926-27, only two NHL franchises have finished among the top three in their division in at least each of their first three seasons: the (American Division; 1926-27) and St. Louis Blues (West Division; 1967- 68).
