TONIGHT’S GAME: The Gulls travel to for their first ever matchup against the Henderson Silver Knights, the AHL and Pacific Division’s newest team, tonight at (7:00 p.m. - Radio: iHeartRadio; Stream: AHLTV). The Gulls own an all-time record of 191-115-21-10, including 103-54-9-5 at home and 88-61-12-5 on the road. San Diego leads the Pacific Division in all-time wins, points (413) and points percentage (.613%, min. two seasons) since the division’s inception six seasons ago. Following the game, the Gulls will prepare for a back-to-back set against Henderson on Friday, Feb. 26 (6 p.m.) and Saturday, Feb. 27 (2 p.m.) as the team continues its first road trip of two or more games this season.

GULLS-SILVER KNIGHTS: The Gulls and Silver Knights meet tonight for the first matchup of a six-game season series split evenly between Henderson and Southern . Playing in their inaugural season, the Silver Knights became the first club to join the AHL’s Pacific Division since the Colorado Eagles in 2018-19. The Gulls will play three consecutive games at Orleans Arena beginning on Wednesday, Feb. 24 (7:00 p.m.) and concluding with a weekend back-to-back Friday, Feb. 26 (7:00 p.m.) and Saturday, Feb. 27 (2:00 p.m.). The Gulls will host the Silver Knights on Sunday, Mar. 14 (3 p.m.), Saturday, Apr. 24 (5 p.m.) and Sunday, Apr. 25 (5 p.m.) at FivePoint Arena.

HOME AWAY FROM HOME: The Gulls will temporarily play home games during the 2020-21 season at FivePoint Arena at Great Park Ice in Irvine, Calif. to ensure all players within the Anaheim Ducks organization are in one location under the same health protocols. The Gulls are committed to San Diego long-term and will return to San Diego as soon as it is feasible for the organization and deemed safe by local and state health officials to welcome back fans to the arena.

YOUNG GUNS: Gulls defenseman Jamie Drysdale became the youngest goal scorer in club history (18 years, 9 months, 28 days) with his first career AHL tally, Feb. 6 vs. Bakersfield. Jacob Perreault then broke Drysdale’s record just over a week later on Feb. 17 vs. Bakersfield (18 years, 9 months, 20 days). Lukas Dostal became the youngest goalie to win a game for San Diego (20 years, 7 months, 15 days) with his first career victory, Feb. 5 vs. Bakersfield.

CHART TOPPERS: Gulls goaltender Lukas Dostal paces league netminders in minutes played (344), saves (209) and wins (5). Jamie Drysdale leads AHL defensemen in scoring (3-5=8), co-leads in goals and ranks tied for third in assists. Sam Carrick ranks second in the AHL in shots.

VIEW FROM THE TOP: With his goal vs. Colorado on Feb. 13, Gulls Sam Carrick became the club’s all-time leading scorer (73-86=159), surpassing . Named the third captain in Gulls history on Oct. 18, 2019, Carrick has led San Diego in scoring and goals each of the past two seasons. Carrick also paced all San Diego skaters in plus/minus (+27), shorthanded goals (4), shots (144) and co-led in power-play goals (5) in 2019-20. He finished the campaign leading AHL forwards and ranking second among all skaters in plus/minus and was the only AHL player to record four separate six-game point streaks. With 73-85=158 points as a Gull from 2017-20, Carrick also leads the Gulls all-time in shorthanded goals (9) and ranks second in plus/minus and third in assists and games played (193). The fifth- year Gull also scored the first Gulls hat trick on home ice, Nov. 13, 2019 vs. San Jose (3-0=3).

MR. 300: With San Diego’s win over Colorado on Feb. 13, Gulls Head Coach Kevin Dineen became the 22nd head coach in AHL history to reach 300 career wins. In 545 AHL games as a head coach, Dineen has a 303-177-33-35 record with San Diego (2019-present) and Portland (2005-11). Dineen leads Anaheim’s primary affiliate head coaches in wins (178), points (381) and point percentage (.618). Dineen has led San Diego to a 37-19-6-2 record in 65 games as head coach.

THE KIDS ARE ALRIGHT: The Gulls established a new club record with a 6-0-0-0 start to the season from Feb. 5-17. San Diego became only the second Pacific Division team to begin the season with five consecutive wins since the division’s inception in 2015 and the first since the inaugural 2015-16 season. Over that span, San Diego led the AHL in wins (6) and points (12) and ranked third in goal differential (+8).

DUCK CALLS: Tonight’s Gulls roster includes 18 NHL Draft selections, including 10 by the Anaheim Ducks. Three were chosen in the first round by Anaheim, Brayden Tracey (29th overall in 2019), Jamie Drysdale (sixth overall in 2020) and Jacob Perreault (27th overall in 2020). Also on tonight’s roster, Antoine Morand (60th in 2017), Benoit-Olivier Groulx (54th overall in 2018) and Lukas Dostal (85th overall in 2018) were drafted in the first three rounds.

2019-20 SEASON IN REVIEW: The Gulls completed their fifth season in the AHL’s Pacific Division with a 30-12-6-2 record for 68 points in 57 games, tied for third in the Pacific Division and sixth among Western Conference teams (.596%). San Diego finished the season with an 18-6-4-1 record (.707%) after Jan. 1, recording points in 23-of-29 games to lead the Pacific Division in wins and points percentage, and rank second in the Western Conference and fourth among AHL clubs in point percentage in that span. The Gulls climbed 19 spots in the league standings (31st to 12th) and nine positions in the Western Conference (15th to sixth) after Nov. 1 (.000 points percentage, 0-6-0-0 record), posting a 30-13-6-3 mark (.667%) and gaining points in 38 of 51 games. San Diego’s +37 goal differential after Nov. 1 led the Pacific Division, ranked second in the Western Conference and tied for third among AHL clubs. On May 11, the AHL announced the cancellation of the 2019-20 regular season and 2020 Playoffs due to the COVID-19 outbreak. For the first time since the AHL’s formation in 1936, the league did not award the Calder Cup.

Kevin Dineen enters his second season as head coach of the San Diego Gulls, his fifth overall in the Anaheim Ducks organization. Named to his current post July 15, 2019, Dineen guided the Gulls to a 30-19-6-2 record in his first season with San Diego. A native of Quebec City, Quebec, Dineen was an assistant coach for the from 2014- 18, helping the club to a championship in 2015. He also previously served as head coach of the from 2011-13, guiding the club to a 56-62-28 record, including its first Southeast Division title in 2011-12.

Dineen spent six seasons as head coach of the (AHL) from 2005-11, leading his teams to a 266-155-59 record in 480 games. In three seasons as Anaheim’s AHL affiliate, Dineen’s teams went 135-76-29 (.623%) with two trips to the Eastern Conference Finals (2005, 2008). He was named the recipient of the Louis A.R. Pieri Memorial Award as the AHL's outstanding coach in 2005-06. Dineen leads Anaheim’s primary affiliate head coaches in all-time wins (169), points (375) and point percentage (.623%)

Internationally, Dineen led the Canadian women’s national team to a gold medal at the 2014 Winter Olympic Games in Sochi, Russia. He also led Canada's men's national team to a bronze medal at the 2014 Under-18 World Championship and a second-place finish at the 2018 in Davos, Switzerland.

Selected by the in the third round (56th overall) of the 1982 NHL Draft, Dineen played 19 NHL seasons from 1984-2003, recording 355-405=760 points and 2,229 minutes (PIM) in 1,188 career games with Hartford, Philadelphia, Carolina, and Columbus. He is one of eight NHL players to record more than 300 goals and 2,000 PIM. Dineen also appeared in 59 career Stanley Cup Playoff games with Hartford, Philadelphia and Carolina, collecting 23-18=41 points. He also served as team captain while playing for Philadelphia, Hartford and Carolina.

As a player, Dineen appeared in two NHL All-Star Games (1988, 1989), and was named the NHL’s Man of the Year in 1990-91 in recognition of his involvement with charitable activities. He was also named a finalist for the Bill Masterton Trophy on three occasions, awarded annually to the NHL player who best exemplifies the qualities of perseverance, sportsmanship, and dedication to .

Dineen represented Canada in numerous international tournaments as a player, including the 1984 Winter Olympic Games in Sarajevo, Yugoslavia. He also helped lead Team Canada to the 1987 and appeared in three World Championships for Team Canada, winning silver on two occasions (1985 and 1989).

ASSISTANT COACH: Sylvain Lefebvre

The 2020-21 AHL campaign marks Sylvain Lefebvre’s third season as an assistant coach with the Gulls. In his first two campaigns with the club, Lefebvre helped guide San Diego to a 66-43-11-5 record and an appearance in the 2019 Calder Cup Western Conference Finals.

Lefebvre spent the previous six seasons as Head Coach of Montreal’s primary AHL affiliate in Hamilton (2012-15), St. John’s (2015-17) and Laval (2017-18). Prior to his AHL assignment with Montreal, he served as Assistant Coach with Colorado (NHL) for three seasons (2009-12) after spending two years (2007-09) as Assistant Coach with the Avalanche’s AHL affiliate in Lake Erie.

Lefebvre is a veteran of 945 career NHL games with Montreal, Toronto, Quebec/Colorado and the New York Rangers. He recorded 30-154=184 points with a +108 rating during his 14-year NHL career. Lefebvre was part of Colorado’s first Stanley Cup championship team in 1996 and went on to appear in 129 career Stanley Cup Playoff games. Lefebvre also played parts of four AHL seasons with Sherbrooke (1986-89) and Hartford (2001-02), earning 18-61=79 points in 171 career regular- season games.

ASSISTANT COACH: David Urquhart

David Urquhart is in the midst of his third season as an assistant coach for the Gulls. Urquhart helped San Diego to its third Calder Cup Playoff appearance in franchise history and first trip to the Western Conference Finals in 2018-19.

Prior to joining the Anaheim organization, Urquhart served as Assistant Coach with McGill University in Montreal for four seasons from 2014-18. He also served as Head Coach for Team Serbia at the 2018 IIHF World Hockey Championship Division II. Urquhart appeared in 130 career AHL games from 2008-11, collecting 6-17=23 points with a +8 rating with Hartford and Hamilton. Urquhart also played three seasons in Italy from 2011-14, highlighted by a league championship victory in 2013-14.

A native of Thorold, , Urquhart played four collegiate seasons with the McGill Redmen from 2004-08 and earned a commerce degree in 2008. Named to the 2006-07 All-Canadian Second Team, Urquhart recorded 23-84=107 points in 147 career games and led McGill to the Ontario University Athletics conference championship as captain in 2007-08. The three- time All-Star concluded his time at McGill as the eighth-highest scoring defenseman in Redmen history.
