GOLDEN KNIGHTS LAST GAME RECAP December 15 - Vegas Golden Knights 6, 3 The Vegas Golden Knights notched a 6-3 win against the Vancouver Canucks on Sunday night at T-Mobile Arena. Nick Holden opened the scoring early in the first period with his third goal of the season. Elias Pettersson answered for Vancouver, but a power- play goal from Valentin Zykov gave the Golden Knights a 2-1 lead heading into the first intermission. Vegas doubled its lead in the second period as Jonathan Marchessault and Mark Stone scored to put the home team up 4-1. Brock Boeser scored for the Canucks in the third period to cut the Golden Knights' lead to 4-2 but Max Pacioretty answered right back on a breakaway for the fifth Vegas goal of the evening. A Jake Virtanen goal made it 5-3 before Pacioretty scored again to allow the Golden Knights to cruise to the 6-3 win.

NOTES FOR TONIGHT Last Season Against The Wild The Vegas Golden Knights finished 1-2-0 against the Minnesota Wild during the 2018-19 season. The road team won each contest and Vegas started the trend with a 2-1 shootout victory at Minnesota (Oct. 6). The two teams wouldn't meet again until January in Las Vegas and Minnesota won 4-2 (Jan. 21) and the Wild closed out the season series with a 3-2 at T-Mobile Arena (March 29). The Golden Knights were led by Colin Miller who finished with four assists against Minnesota and Max Pacioretty (2G, 1A) and Paul Stastny (2G, 1A) each added three points in the three meetings. Regular-Season VGK Milestones The Golden Knights played their 200th all-time regular-season game against the Vancouver Canucks at T-Mobile Arena (Dec. 15). Vegas improved to 112-69-19 (243 points) with a 6-3 win over the Canucks and owns the second-best record in NHL history by a franchise through its first 200 games in terms of wins, points and point percentage. It was also the team's 100th all-time regular-season home game and the Golden Knights improved to 62-28-10 (134 points) at T-Mobile Arena. Vegas owns the fourth-best record in League history by a franchise through its first 100 home games, behind the original Ottawa Senators (78-19-3, 159 points), Montreal Canadiens (71-28-1, 143 points) and Toronto Arenas/St. Patricks (69-29-2, 140 points).

Some VGK Takeaways The Vegas Golden Knights lead the NHL with 353 takeaways through 36 games this season. Last season, Vegas was the only team to record over 900 takeaways, finishing with 903, which were the most recorded by a team since the NY Islanders finished the 2009-10 season with 948 takeaways. Vegas is led by Mark Stone, who leads the league with 49 takeaways, & Reilly Smith, who is is tied for second in the NHL with 36 takeaways. William Karlsson (32 takeaways) also ranks in the league's top 10, sitting tied for 10th. Vegas is the only team to have three individual players that rank in the league's top-10 in takeaways. Ranking The Special Teams The Vegas Golden Knights have excelled on the power play & the penalty kill during the 2019-20 season. With the man advantage, they have scored 25 goals in 111 power-play attempts, good for 22.5 percent & eighth in the league. While down a man, Vegas has killed off 83.3 percent of opposing team's power plays, which ranks tied for ninth in the league. Also while on the penalty kill, the Golden Knights have scored six short-handed goals, which is tied for the second most in league. William Karlsson leads the league with five short-handed points (2G, 3A) and Reilly Smith is tied for the second most in the league with four points (2G, 2A) while a man down. Last season, Vegas ranked 25th on the power play (16.8 percent), 14th on the penalty kill (80.9 percent) & scored 11 short-handed goals.

Mad Max! Vegas forward Max Pacioretty was named the NHL "First Star" of the week (Dec. 16) after recording eight points (5G, 3A) and helping lead the Golden Knights to a 3-1-0 record during the week. To date, he has scored goals in four consecutive games, the longest streak by a Vegas player this season. The New Canaan, CT native leads the Golden Knights with 34 points (15G, 19A). Earlier this season, he recorded a point in seven consecutive road games (Nov. 7 - Dec. 2), which tied a franchise record set by Paul Stastny (Dec. 29, 2018-Feb. 2, 2019).

Reaves Finishing Checks After leading the league in hits during the 2018-19 season, Vegas forward Ryan Reaves is picking up where he left off to start the 2019-20 season. Through 36 games, the Winnipeg, MB native has recorded 157 hits, which leads the league. He tallied a career-high 12 hits against San Jose (Nov. 21).

He became the sixth defensemen in franchise history to record a SHG and joined Willie Mitchell and Jonas Brodin as the only blueliners with a SHG, empty-net goal.
