Conference games still tied after a five-minute 5-on-5 overtime advance to a five-minute 3-on-3 overtime (and sudden victory shootout if still tied) with the team that wins the second overtime/shootout receiving an extra point in the standings (3/SW in the standings), making all games worth three (3) points. The 3-on-3 overtime and shootouts only affect conference standings, while the game is officially a tie for NCAA purposes. NCHC FaCts aNd Figures This Week’s Games • Only half the NCHC teams are in action on Thanksgiving weekend and Friday, Nov. 23 all four teams hitting the ice face non-conference foes. Two NCHC teams No. 19 Miami at New Hampshire, 7:00 p.m. ET battle Hockey East foes, while a WCHA opponent and Arizona State are also on the slate. NCHC teams are 33-15-5 in non-conference play this No. 16/14 Arizona State at Omaha, 7:07 p.m. CT season, with the .670 win percentage tops among the six Division I men’s Alaska Anchorage at No. 17 North Dakota, 7:37 p.m. CT hockey conferences. NCHC teams are 17-5-2 against WCHA foes this No. 9/9 Providence at No. 7/7 Denver, 7:07 p.m. MT season and 5-3-1 against Hockey East opponents. Omaha is facing Arizona Saturday, Nov. 24 State for the second time this season after being swept in Tempe a month ago. The Mavericks are the lone NCHC team to play ASU so far, though No. 19 Miami at New Hampshire, 7:00 p.m. ET Colorado College travels to the desert in mid-December. (page 9) No. 16/14 Arizona State at Omaha, 7:07 p.m. CT • For the eighth straight week, five NCHC teams remain ranked in the Alaska Anchorage at No. 17 North Dakota, 7:07 p.m. CT USCHO.com Poll, while the NCHC holds the top two spots in both the USCHO No. 9/9 Providence at No. 7/7 Denver, 7:07 p.m. MT and USA Today/USA Hockey Magazine Polls for the fourth straight week. There’s a new No. 1 team, however, as St. Cloud State took over the top spot for the first time this season, while Minnesota Duluth, who was No. 1 the last LasT Week’s Results three weeks, landed at No. 2. The eight different goaltenders to record a shutout are second-most in one conference behind only the WCHA (9). Miami junior Ryan Larkin has logged three shutouts himself this season, tops in the NCHC and tied for Friday, Nov. 23 and Saturday, Nov. 24 first nationally.     Hockey Commissioners Association Contact: Joe Bertagna, Hockey East, (781) 245-2122 [email protected] For Immediate Release: Friday, April 12, 2019 BOSTON UNIVERSITY’S JOEL FARABEE IS 2019 TIM TAYLOR NATIONAL ROOKIE OF THE YEAR Boston University freshman forward Joel Farabee (Cicero, NY) has been named the recipient of the 2019 Tim Taylor Award, bestowed annual- ly upon the best first-year player in NCAA Division I men’s ice hockey, the Hockey Commissioners’ Association announced today. He is the fourth BU Terrier to win this award and the third in the last five years. The award is voted on by the nation’s assistant coaches and is named for the former Yale University and U.S. Olympic Team head coach. Farabee was 17-19-36 in 37 games for BU, his season ending prematurely after the Hockey East quarterfinals due to injury. Farabee was selected as the Hockey East Rookie of the Week three times this season and his 21 league points were good for eighth in the conference (tied.) He was named to the 2018- 19 All Hockey East Rookie Team. Drafted #14 in the first round of the 2018 NHL Entry Draft by Philadelphia, Farabee has already signed with the Flyers and hopes to compete for a position next fall.The runner-up for the 2019 National Rookie of the Year Award was Niagara University forward Ludwig Sten- lund (Skelleftea, Sweden). Tim Taylor, for whom the award is named, spent 28 seasons at Yale and became the school’s winningest head coach as he collected 337 victories.
