This year the economy has deeply impacted the organizations serving our community. Food banks are seeing unprecedented demand. Usage of addictions and counselling services has nearly doubled. Charities are facing a decline in corporate sponsorship and support of fundraising efforts. Although this year has been challenging, Calgarians continue to come together by collaborating, innovating and giving in times of increased need. As a community foundation we are fortunate to witness charities, citizens and donors investing in the long-term vitality of our city. In response to the increased needs of the charitable sector, the Foundation redeployed $2.1 million from reserve funds to maximize support to charities working on solutions to our city’s most pressing issues. In total, $45.9 million was granted to charities this year. From small initiatives like the restoration of a beloved community mural through our Neighbour Grants program to large-scale projects like cSpace The power of the endowment is profound.
