It has been said that the ideal formation of a string quartet is four musicians capable of soloist career who share a common love for the chamber music literature, and this is exactly what one finds in the combination of the highly accomplished string players – violinists Roman Simović and Miloš Petrović, violist, Branko Kabadaić, and cellist Dragan Đorđević – that make up the Rubicon String Quartet. The STRING QUARTET RUBICON gave its first performance in 2003 at the City Theatre Festival in Budva. The quartet’s debut was soon followed by a tour across Serbia and Montenegro, after which Rubicon Quartet appeared at the Festival Kotor Art. As their reputation grew, the quartet was soon in- vited by the highly regarded violinist/conductor Shlomo Mintz to appear at the prestigious festival Sion- Vale, with Haiek Kazazian and pianist Lionel Monet. The same year the String Quaretet Rubicon gave an extremely successful concert at the BEMUS festival and NOMUS. Since its inception, the Rubicon String Quartet made numerous recordings for Radio and Television, including Mendelssohn string quartet and the Brahms piano quintet with Ratimir Martinović. Other collaborations include violinist Grigori Ghislin and Itamar Golan. Currently members of the Rubicon Quartet enjoy prominent positions both as performers and as pedagogues: violinist Roman Simović is the concert master of London Symphony Orchestra, Branko Kabadaić is the solo violist of the orchestra Camerata Salzburg, while Miloš Petrović is an assistant pro- fessor at the University in Belgrade, and Dragan Đorđević is a cello professor at the University of Arts in Belgrade. All the members are sought-after as soloists, chamber musicians and the ensemble holds more than ten prices from international competitions.
