II Dal 1993 Al 1997: le prime tre evoluzioni di Björk L’idea originaria era che ogni traccia di Debut doveva avere un produttore diverso, in realtà dopo l’incontro con Nellee Hooper ogni singola traccia del disco ebbe vita a se ma con un unico produttore. Esotico, eclettico ma anche coerente e fluido, l’album dimostrava una maturità poetica con reminiscenze classiche e palpiti di dance-music meno commerciale. Björk dava vita così ad un pop elettronico sofisticato, emozionante e davvero innovativo. Singolo guida di Debut fu Human beheaviour . I timpani che aprivano il brano, davano alla canzone un sapore arabeggiante. Il singolo dimostra una interpretazione vocale piuttosto originale, in un ritmo quasi spiazzante rispetto ai canoni di una cultura pop dei primi anni 90. Con l’esordio di Björk da solista va associato anche il suo ingresso nella videoarte. All’inizio degli anni ‘90, anche la politica e il palinsesto di MTV, subiva un’importante cambiamento: il videoclip si inseriva con una certa predominanza negli investimenti e consequenzialmente nelle promozioni delle major discografiche. Regista e apripista di questa nuova immagine di Björk fu Michel Gondry, figura allora emergente ma molto richiesta nel mondo dei videoclip. L’idea del video, nata principalmente da Björk, la ritraeva in una casetta di legno immersa in un bosco illuminato da stelle attorno al quale ruotava un orso gigante di peluche. Il tutto in un ambiente surreale e molto naif. Il video, nonostante le paure di un qualcosa di troppo azzardato fu un successo. La One Little Indian puntava a 40 mila copie vendute per Debut (più o meno il numero dei fan degli Sugarcubes); non si aspettava che nei soli primi tre mesi il disco avrebbe venduto 600 mila copie e che il milione, sarebbe arrivato molto presto. -

Raja Mohan 21M.775 Prof. DeFrantz From Bronx’s Hip-Hop to Bristol’s Trip-Hop As Tricia Rose describes, the birth of hip-hop occurred in Bronx, a marginalized city, characterized by poverty and congestion, serving as a backdrop for an art form that flourished into an international phenomenon. The city inhabited a black culture suffering from post-war economic effects and was cordoned off from other regions of New York City due to modifications in the highway system, making the people victims of “urban renewal.” (30) Given the opportunity to form new identities in the realm of hip-hop and share their personal accounts and ideologies, similar to traditions in African oral history, these people conceived a movement whose worldwide appeal impacted major events such as the Million Man March. Hip-hop’s enormous influence on the world is undeniable. In the isolated city of Bristol located in England arose a style of music dubbed trip-hop. The origins of trip-hop clearly trace to hip-hop, probably explaining why artists categorized in this genre vehemently oppose to calling their music trip-hop. They argue their music is hip-hop, or perhaps a fresh and original offshoot of hip-hop. Mushroom, a member of the trip-hop band Massive Attack, said, "We called it lover's hip hop. Forget all that trip hop bullshit. Intercom – Sociedade Brasileira de Estudos Interdisciplinares da Comunicação XXX Congresso Brasileiro de Ciências da Comunicação – Santos – 29 de agosto a 2 de setembro de 2007 Parceiros no clipe: uma análise contexto-textual da autoria de Björk e Michel Gondry em Human Behaviour1 Rodrigo Ribeiro Barreto2 Programa de Pós-graduação em Comunicação e Cultura Contemporâneas da Faculdade de Comunicação da Universidade Federal da Bahia (FACOM/UFBA) Resumo Por meio de uma análise do videoclipe Human Behaviour, o artigo pretende avaliar a parceria entre a cantora islandesa Björk e o diretor francês Michel Gondry como um exemplo de autoria compartilhada no campo de produção dos vídeos musicais. Em inclinação contextual, o trabalho segue uma inspiração “bourdieusiana” para examinar as trajetórias dos realizadores em questão, além das condições de surgimento desta que é uma das parcerias mais reconhecidas no campo. O viés analítico adotado investe também nas estratégias e estilos textualmente identificados: temática, caracterização dos personagens, influências e citações intertextuais, concepção cênica, relações entre música e imagem. Palavras-chave Videoclipe; Autoria; Análise contexto-textual; Campo de produção Introdução: O campo de produção, os videoclipes e seus autores As quase três décadas de história do videoclipe são mais do que suficientes para permitir que se apontem algumas de suas figuras mais relevantes; uma proeminência, que – em um formato cultural compósito e massivo – bem poderia ser atribuída a profissionais de diferentes áreas de atuação: artistas musicais, diretores, produtores, editores, diretores de arte e cenografia etc. Sem deixar de reconhecer essa possibilidade, a pesquisa de doutorado, da qual faz parte este artigo, destaca, no entanto, o papel das instâncias diretiva e performática como as principais definidoras de sentido dos 1 Trabalho apresentado no VII Encontro dos Núcleos de Pesquisa em Comunicação – NP de Comunicação Audiovisual.
