Tämän katsauksen arviot on tuotettu maaliskuun 2019 aikana. Alueiden odotukset talouden ja työllisyyden näkymistä ovat edelleen varsin positiiviset, vaikka talouden kasvuvauhti hiipuukin. Työttömyyden ennakoidaan alenevan, vaikkakin aikaisempaa hitaammin. Osaavan työvoiman saatavuus pysyy merkittävänä haasteena ympäri maata. Metsätaloudessa positiivinen vire jatkuu, mikä osaltaan vaikuttaa useiden alueiden positiivisiin odotuksiin. Muita alueellisesti tärkeitä kasvualoja lähiaikoina ovat meriteollisuus, ICT-ala, kaivos teollisuus sekä matkailu. Myös rakentaminen, hiipumisesta huolimatta, säilyy varsinkin kasvukeskuksissa tärkeänä toimialana Työvoiman saatavuusongelmia pyritään ratkaisemaan mm. kehittämällä koulutusta, yritysten tarpeisiin räätälöidyillä rekrytointikoulutuksilla, markkinointikampanjoilla sekä edis- tämällä rekrytointeja ulkomailta. Siltasopimusmallin laajentaminen uusille alueille osaltaan tukee positiivisiin rakennemuutoksiin vastaamisessa. Bedömningarna i denna översikt har gjorts i mars 2019. Förväntningarna i regionerna när det gäller utsikterna för ekonomin och sysselsättningen är fortsättningsvis rätt positiva även om den ekonomiska tillväxttakten mattas av. Arbetslösheten förväntas minska, om än långsammare än tidigare. Tillgången på kompetent arbetskraft är fort sättningsvis en betydande utmaning runtom i landet. Den positiva trenden inom skogsbruket fortsätter, vilket bidrar till de positiva förväntning- arna i flera regioner. Andra regionalt sett viktiga tillväxtbranscher inom den närmaste framtiden är sjöfarts industrin, IKT-branschen, gruvindustrin samt turistbranschen. Också byggandet är fortsätt ningsvis, trots nedgången, en viktig sektor särskilt i tillväxtorterna. Problemen med tillgång på arbetskraft försöker man råda bot på bl.a. genom att utveckla utbildningen, genom rekryteringsutbildningar skräddarsydda för företagens behov, genom marknads föringskampanjer samt genom att främja rekrytering utomlands. En utvidgning av modellen med broavtal till nya områden bidrar till att stödja bemötandet av positiva struktur- omvandlingar. It was prepared by the Centres for Economic Development, Transport and the Environment (ELY Centres) together with key regional developers. The assessments for this review were made in March 2019. Regional expectations on economic and employment prospects continue to be very positive despite the slow-down in economic growth. Unemployment is expected to decrease, although more slowly than before. The availability of competent workforce will remain a major challenge across the country. The forestry sector continues to show positive signs, contributing to positive expectations in many regions. Other major growth areas of regional significance include the marine industry, the ICT sector, the mining industry, and tourism. Despite its slow-down, the construction industry continues to be an important sector, especially in the growth centres. Development efforts to reduce the shortage of workforce include training, recruitment training campaigns customised for company needs, marketing campaigns and international recruitment. Extending the scope of the so-called bridge agreement to new regions will support positive structural changes.     2003 French precision in China Dongfeng Peugeot Citroën Automobile Co., Ltd (DCAC) is a French-Chinese joint-venture company manufacturing Peugeot and Citroën cars. Located in the city of Wuhan in the Hubei province of China, DCAC employs 5000 people. To monitor the quality of DCAC’s pressed steel body panels, a measuring station incorporating a 3D scanner checks the precision of the parts to within a hundredth of a millimetre. Effi cient measuring method Body panels are attached to air-fi lm mobile bedplates, which in turn sit on each of two air fi lm-based Solving Movers. The movers can dock with the measuring station from either side, allowing one bedplate and mover to be prepared and manoeuvred into position while the other is docked at the measuring station. Once the mover has docked, the bedplate fl oats from the mover to the measuring table, guided by a fi xed rail, positioning the body panel accurately under Valmet-Automotive the scanner. The system is entirely pneumatic and cannot therefore interfere with the measuring system’s electronics. This effectively impacts on the planning process as well. “Virtually every city and country […] will, sooner or later, need to plan for its sustainable future or its very economic, environmental, and social survival.” 1 The fact of the matter is, Architecture and Planning have an undeniable say in how social and economic landscapes be changed in order to satisfy the needs of people for a high quality of life. Lessening the ecological impacts of growth in the cities is at present a must for cultivating successful development models, or livable communities for that matter. My own professional interest and experience with that subject is best reflected by the diploma project I prepared toward graduation in the Urban planning department at UACEG 2. “Lifestyle and Urban planning” examines the possibilities for a small urban settlement to be developed in accordance with both locally and globally sustainable objectives. The word goes of Sibbesborg area - situated approximately 30 kilometers east of the center of Helsinki. The project area encompasses 2 000 ha with a population of 3 000 inhabitants and less than 1000 jobs established by the year 2010. An open international planning competition for sustainable community development was organized in 2011 by Sipoo Municipality.3 The purpose of the competition was to enable the development of the Sibbesborg area and help it respond to the needs of the growing metropolitan region (fig.1|fig.2|fig.3).

With the support of the European Metalworkers’ Federation, works councils or trade union branches in 38 bodywork and assembly plants in ten countries were questioned about the duration of working time and operating hours and the organisation of shift systems for the reference year 1998. The survey carries on from an investigation on the same subject carried out by the IAT at the beginning of the 1990s and draws attention to a number of important changes. 1. In the course of the 1990s, following the end of the recession, there was a clear shift of emphasis in automobile production from two to three-shift operation. As a result, average operating hours in assembly plants have lengthened considerably. 2. The extension of night working is clearly no longer a controversial issue in the European automotive industry. As far as so-called “unsocial working hours” are concerned, the focus of attention has shifted to the extension of weekend working. Although regular weekend work is still the exception for the vast majority of the workforce, a gradual, step-by-step advance in the number of weekend shifts cannot be ignored.
