Joint Needs Assessment Report on Manipur Floods, 2015 Joint Needs Assessment Report This report contains the compilation of the JNA –Phase 01 actions in the state of Manipur, India in the aftermath of the incessant rains and the subsequent embankment breaches which caused massive floods in first week of August 2015 affecting 6 districts of people in valley and hills in Manipur. This is the worst flood the state has witnessed in the past 200 years as observed on traditional experiences. Chapter 1: Introduction
Chapter 1: Introduction 1.1. District Profile The district of Kakching came into existence on the 8thDecember 2016 when the State Government announced the formation of 7 new district through a notification of the Government of Manipur, (Secretariat: Revenue Department Order No. 16/20/2016-R dated 8th December 2016), (Manipur Extraordinary Gazette No. 408 of 9.12.2016). It is situated in the southeastern part of Manipur. It is bounded by Thoubal and Imphal West districts on the north, Tengnoupal and Chandel districts on the east, Bishnupur districts on the west and Chandel district on the south. Its average elevation is not very much different from the rest of the Manipur Valley, which is about 790 metres on an average above the mean sea level. Although the district is a part of the valley, the area of the district is not entirely plain. Many rivers flow through the district and many lakes dot its surface, some of which are closely inter-twined with many folk tales and stories. 4(four) Assembly Constituencies namely Hiyanglam Assembly Constituency, Wabgai Assembly Constituency, Sugnu Assembly Constituency and Kakching Assembly Constituency fall under the District.Kakching district comprises of two sub-divisionsnamely Kakching and Waikhong. It has 3 Municipal Councils namely, Kakching, Sugnu and Kakching Khunou. The district has two community development blocks one each at Kakching and Waikhong sub-division. 1.2. Administrative Setup The District Magistrate-cum-Deputy Commissioner (Collector) is the head of the district. He is assisted in this work by other officers and staff as are appointed from time to time. -

PLP 2016-17 Thoubal District EXECUTIVE SUMMARY The theme of the PLP 2016-17 is: "Accelerating the pace of capital formation in agriculture and allied sector”. Accelerating the pace of capital formation in agriculture and allied sector plays a very important role in providing agricultural growth, food security and poverty alleviation in the country. Due to rapid growth of human population, climate changes, decreasing agricultural land areas etc., there is rapid decreasing in agricultural production and productivity. So, there is an urgent need to accelerate the pace of capital formation in agriculture and allied sector. Thoubal district lies between 23° 45’ N and 24° 45’ N latitudes and 93° 45’ E and 94° 15’ E longitudes. It is bounded on the North by Imphal East and Senapati districts and on the East by Ukhrul and Chandel districts, on the South by Chandel and Churachandpur districts and on the West by Imphal West and Bishnupur districts. The district came into being in May 1983 with its head-quarter at Thoubal. The district has 10 Assembly Constituencies, two community development blocks i.e., Thoubal and Kakching and three sub-divisions. One is at Thoubal comprising Thoubal and Lilong sub divisions and another is Kakching block comprising Kakching sub-division only. It has 10 main towns. viz, Lilong (Thoubal), Thoubal, Yairipok, Shikhong Sekmai, Wangjing, Heirok, Kakching, Wabagai, Kakching Khunou and Sugnu. Thoubal and Kakching are Municipalities. As per 2011 Census, the population of the district is 4, 22,168. The district density comes to 821 people per sq. km. Average literacy rate of Thoubal in 2011 was 74.47% with male and female literacy at 85.00 and 64.09 respectively. -

A Quantitative Analysis of Heavy Metals in Vegetables Grown at Kakching-Wabagai Area, Thoubal District Manipur
Volume : 3 | Issue : 6 | June 2014 ISSN - 2250-1991 Research Paper Chemistry A Quantitative Analysis of Heavy Metals in Vegetables Grown At Kakching-Wabagai Area, Thoubal District Manipur Naorem Mohendro Department of Chemistry, Manipur University, Imphal-795003, Singh India Nongmaithem Rajen Department of Chemistry, Manipur University, Imphal-79500, Singh India Present study compares the potentially toxic heavy metals present in some seasonal vegetables grown along the sites of the Sekmai River and its tributorial sites at the Kakching-Wabagai areas. Potentially toxic elements are non-biodegradable and their presence in small amounts can cause toxicity to human and animal lives. Heavy metals like Iron(Fe),Copper(Cu),Zinc(Zn) and Lead(Pb) can pose threat to the human live if their presence exceed the maximum permissible limits, when the vegetables are taken as a livelihood foodstuff. Four seasonal vegetables namely Mustard (Brassica Campestris-local name Hangam– yela), Cauliflower (Brassica Oleracea Botrytis-local name Kobi thamchet-manbi), Cabbage (Brassica Oleracea Capitata-local name Kobiful-kabi) and Spinach (Spinacea Oleracea-local name Palang-sak) were collected from the Kakching-Wabagai ABSTRACT area. Atomic Absorption Spectroscopic method was used for the quantification of Fe, Cu, Zn and Pb in these vegetables. Concentration of Fe and Zn were more than the permissible limit however, Cu was less with no appreciable amount of Pb in all the vegetables. Haldar** Abstract In this study an attempt was made to understand the narrative accounting practice in the corporate world for which steel and cement industry was chosen, for which some companies from two industries are selected and their annual reports, sustainability report, news reports were analyzed with help of certain statistical tools, specifically the content of annual reports are analyzed and observed. It was observed that all the company complies with statutory reporting as per accounting standard, SEBI regulation, RBI guidelines and all other statutory requirements, but voluntary reporting varies significantly from company to company, which means -- lesser dissemination of narrative accounting in the annual reports, as there is no framework or standard for such. Introduction: In this era, there is lots of information disseminated by corporate houses for stakeholders, which are asymmetry in nature, as different firms report differently, some firm communicates with huge volume of information while on the other hand some only maintain the requirement as per Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP); leading to various stakeholders and annual report readers — unsatisfied. Due to such variation in reporting, decision making process sometime, becomes irrelevant and a confusing task. So, satisfying all the stakeholders becomes the prime objective of each and every organization. An annual report plays a role of a liaison, which tries to bridge the gap between annual report readers and management. Therefore annual report has to be prepared and presented in such a way that both the purposes are satisfied viz., to communicate and attract potential investors from management point of view and to be aware of each and every operation of the company—from stakeholders’ point of view. -
