Li Abstract A catalogue of the family Sesiidae in China is provided based partially on the research of the previous literature and partially on the study of the specimens in our collection. A total of 108 species in 26 genera are listed, along with the available information of distribution and host plants. KEY WORDS: Lepidoptera, Sesiidae, catalogue, host plants, distribution, China. The type specimens of Sesia sirphiformis Lucas, 1 849 from Lac Tonga in Algeria and Dipso- sphecia megillaeformis v. tunetana Le Cerf, 1 920 syn. n. from the vicinity of Tunis were examined and found to be conspecific. Bembecia sirphiformis belongs to the B. ichneumoniformis (Denis & Schiffer- müller, 1775) species group and is currently known only from northern Africa. Records from Sicily, Sar- dinia, Corsica, southern Italy, and Morocco (as B. tunetana) are here considered doubtful and may belong to other species. B. astragali (Joannis, 1909) stat. rev., which was described from northern Spain and southern France and was previously considered conspecific with B. sirphiformis, actually appears not to be so closely related to B. sirphiformis and seems to belong to the B. megillaeformis (Hübner, 1813) spe- cies group. B. igueri Bettag & Bläsius, 1998 syn. n. from Morocco is now considered to be a synonym of B. -

Lasˇtu˚vka & A. Lasˇtu˚vka Abstract An annotated list of the Iberian Peninsula Sesiidae is presented. Synanthedon flaviventris (Staudinger, 1883) is new for Spain and the Iberian Peninsula, and S. scoliaeformis (Borkhausen, 1789) is new for Portugal. First concrete occurrence data on Sesia bembeciformis (Hübner, [1806]) are given from Spain. New province records are given of 32 species (about 200 new province records in all). 53 species of the family Sesiidae are known in the Iberian Peninsula (53 in Spain and 32 in Portugal), taxonomic status or level of 3 taxa is as yet unclear (Synanthedon cruciati, Bembecia psoraleae, Pyropteron muscaeformis lusohispanica). The distribution of individual species in the Peninsula is evaluated and a zoogeographical analysis is performed. -

Het chromosoomnummer en karyotype van Polyommatus (Agrodiaetus ) ripartii en van Polyommatus (Agrodiaetus ) aroaniensis in Griekenland (Lepidoptera: Lycaenidae) Het aantal chromosomen in Polyommatus (Agrodiaetus ) ripartii pelopi (Brown, 1976) bedraagt n=90 en het karyotype is identiek aan dat van Polyommatus (Agrodiaetus ) ripartii (Freyer, 1830). De synonymie van beide namen (cf. Hesselbarth, van Oorschot & Wagener 1995) wordt hiermede bevestigd. The results of a re-examination of specimens of clearwings (Lepidoptera: Sesiidae) deposited in the Vara`din Municipal Museum and the Croatian Natural History Museum (CNHM) in Zagreb are presented. Re-determination confirmed 21 species from 6 genera among the 142 clearwing moth specimens from Croatia. A New Species of the Genus Bembecia HÜBNER, 1819 from the Caucasus

G orbunov received 17.1.1989 The description of a new species of the genus Bembecia Hubner , 1819, is presented below. This paper is a continuation of my studies in clearwing moths (Sesiidae) of the Caucasus (cf. Gorbunov 1986, 1987a, b, 1988). Specimens of this beautiful species have been collected as caterpillars at the foothills of the western part of the Meskhetian Range (Georgian SSR), not far from the left bank of Kura River. In accordance with the recom mendations of the International Code of Zoological Nomenclature, a colour illustration of the holotype is given. Bembecia s y z c j o v i spec. nov. (figs. 1 -6) Material: Holotype d, USSR, Transcaucasus, Georgia, Meskhetian Mt. Range, appr. 20km NE AkhaJt- zikhe, 12.VII.1988, e l, leg. O. Gorbunov . Paratypes 2 <5<5, same locality and date, e l , leg. O. Gorbunov . The types are deposited in the author’s collection. Description: Body length 15.0-16.0 mm; fore wing 10.5-11.0 mm; antenna 7.2-7.5 mm. Head: irons yellowish-white with a few black scales centrally; vertex with very long golden- yellow hairy scales; 1 st segment of labial palps with a few yellow scales externally, 2nd yellow with black strip outside, 3rd yellow with a few black scales on top; scales on both 1st and basal half of 2nd segment of labial palps hairy; antenna normal for genus, black with bluish-violet metallic lustre; proboscis not developed. -
