Current and emerging domains include online games and massively multiplayer games (MMOG), casual games, mobile games, and serious/educational games are explored. Computer Science (CS) Computer Science emphasizes the study of computer systems architecture, software development, and data communications. Core technology areas include programming, computer architecture, operating systems, data communication, database systems, and software engineering. These areas are supported by a strong foundation in computing principles such as the design of programming languages, data structures, and operating system principles. Additionally, mathematics concepts are incorporated into many of the major courses. Information Technology (IT) Information Technology (IT) in its broadest sense encompasses all aspects of computing technology. IT is concerned with issues related to advocating for users and meeting their needs within an organizational and societal context through the selection, creation, application, integration and administration of computing technologies. IT programs aim to provide IT graduates with the skills and knowledge to take on appropriate professional positions in Information Technology upon graduation and grow into leadership positions or pursue research or graduate studies in the field. Students further focus their studies into certain fields by choosing a concentration in Enterprise Systems, Information Security, Health IT, or Mobile and Web Development. Software Engineering (SWE) Be a part of the only undergraduate program of its kind at a public university in Georgia. Building on a base of computer science and mathematics, SWE students learn to engineer software systems through the entire life cycle: requirements, design, implementation, testing, integration, and maintenance. Students work on teams that deliver high-quality software products. It controls the functioning of the other units and process the data. The CPU is sometimes called the processor, or in the personal computer field called “microprocessor”. It is a single integrated circuit that contains all the electronics needed to execute a program. The processor calculates (add, multiplies and so on), performs logical operations (compares numbers and make decisions), and controls the transfer of data among devices. The processor acts as the controller of all actions or services provided by the system. Processor actions are synchronized to its clock input. A clock signal consists of clock cycles. The time to complete a clock cycle is called the clock period. Normally, we use the clock frequency, which is the inverse of the clock period, to specify the clock. The clock frequency is measured in Hertz, which represents one cycle/second. Hertz is abbreviated as Hz. Usually, we use mega Hertz (MHz) and giga Hertz (GHz) as in 1.8 GHz Pentium. The processor can be thought of as executing the following cycle forever: 1. Fetch an instruction from the memory, 2. Decode the instruction (i.e., determine the instruction type), 3. Execute the instruction (i.e., perform the action specified by the instruction). Execution of an instruction involves fetching any required operands, performing the specified operation, and writing the results back. This process is often referred to as the fetch- execute cycle, or simply the execution cycle.

    Computer Monitor and Television Recycling What is the problem? Televisions and computer monitors can no longer be discarded in the normal household containers or commercial dumpsters, effective April 10, 2001. Televisions and computer monitors may contain picture tubes called cathode ray tubes (CRT’s). CRT’s can contain lead, cadmium and/or mercury. When disposed of in a landfill, these metals contaminate soil and groundwater. Some larger television sets may contain as much as 15 pounds of lead. A typical 15‐inch CRT computer monitor contains 1.5 pounds of lead. The State Department of Toxic Substances Control has determined that televisions and computer monitors can no longer be disposed with typical household trash, or recycled with typical household recyclables. They are considered universal waste that needs to be disposed of through alternate ways. CRTs should be stored in a safe manner that prevents the CRT from being broken and the subsequent release of hazardous waste into the environment. Locations that will accept televisions, computers, and other electronic waste (e‐waste): If the product still works, trying to find someone that can still use it (donating) is the best option before properly disposing of an electronic product. Mahoney Princeton University (CWI Quarterly 3,4(1990), 325-334) At the International Conference on the History of Computing held in Los Alamos in 1976, R.W. Hamming placed his proposed agenda in the title of his paper: "We Would Know What They Thought When They Did It."1 He pleaded for a history of computing that pursued the contextual development of ideas, rather than merely listing names, dates, and places of "firsts". Moreover, he exhorted historians to go beyond the documents to "informed speculation" about the results of undocumented practice. What people actually did and what they thought they were doing may well not be accurately reflected in what they wrote and what they said they were thinking. His own experience had taught him that. Historians of science recognize in Hamming's point what they learned from Thomas Kuhn's Structure of Scientific Revolutions some time ago, namely that the practice of science and the literature of science do not necessarily coincide. Paradigms (or, if you prefer with Kuhn, disciplinary matrices) direct not so much what scientists say as what they do. Hence, to determine the paradigms of past science historians must watch scientists at work practicing their science. We have to reconstruct what they thought from the evidence of what they did, and that work of reconstruction in the history of science has often involved a certain amount of speculation informed by historians' own experience of science. That is all the more the case in the history of technology, where up to the present century the inventor and engineer have \*-as Derek Price once put it\*- "thought with their fingertips", leaving the record of their thinking in the artefacts they have designed rather than in texts they have written.

Starting with the decline of hybrid devices like the Commodore 64, the paper traces the way in which notions of convergence and divergence have infl uenced the console gaming market. Special attention is given to the convergence strategies employed by key players such as Sega, Nintendo, Sony and Microsoft, and the success or failure of these strategies is evaluated.
