The aim of this research, carried out from 2002 to 2003, was to increase the know- ledge on species assemblages of moth inhabiting Sila beech forests. Data have been collected at the hedge of a pastureland located within a Fagus sylvatica (L.) forest, at an altitude of 1690 m a.s.l. on the southern slope of Monte Curcio (Southern Italy). A 160W lamp as light source and a vertical sheet as reflecting screen have been used for moth collecting. Thirty samples of four hours starting from the sunset, have been car- ried out. 3,414 individuals belonging to 201 species have been sampled. Eupithecia spissilineata (Metzner, 1846) is new for the fauna of Calabria. The most abundant spe- cies are Agrotis cinerea (Denis & Schiffermüller, 1775) (n = 297), Hada plebeja (Lin- naeus, 1761) (n = 240), Noctua pronuba (Linnaeus, 1758) (n = 225), Agrochola macilen- ta (Hübner, 1809) (n = 154) and Operophtera fagata (Scharfenberg, 1805) (n = 144). The species assemblages seems to be the result of the landscape element. In fact, from the trophic point of view, among the dominant species some are linked to beech fore- st, some other to pastureland. The phenology of species shows a maximum in the summer, linked to the relatively warmer temperature. Another maximum, smaller than the former one, was registered in autumn, due to the presence of numerous in- dividuals of migrant species. The Sila Massif is confirmed as the southern border for a lot of Eurasian species. 1 C.R.A. HEPIALIDAE 1. Sv ir id o v received 24.II.2000 Summary: 630 species of the Noctuidae are listed for the modern Volgo-Ural fauna. 2 species [Mesapamea hedeni Graeser and Amphidrina amurensis Staudinger ) are noted from Europe for the first time and one more— Nycteola siculana Fuchs —from Russia. 3 species ( Catocala optata Godart , Helicoverpa obsoleta Fabricius , Pseudohadena minuta Pungeler ) are deleted from the list. Supposedly they were either erroneously determinated or incorrect noted from the region under consideration since Eversmann 's work. 289 species are recorded from the re gion in addition to Eversmann 's list. This paper is the fifth in a series of publications1 dealing with the composition of the pres ent-day fauna of noctuid-moths in the Middle Volga and the south-western Cisurals. This re gion comprises the administrative divisions of the Astrakhan, Volgograd, Saratov, Samara, Uljanovsk, Orenburg, Uralsk and Atyraus (= Gurjev) Districts, together with Tataria and Bash kiria. As was accepted in the first part of this series, only material reliably labelled, and cover ing the last 20 years was used for this study. Abstract: The higher altitudes of the Bavarian highlands host a montaneous determined insect fauna with numerous species of arcto-alpine distribution. Little data have been published so far from the East Bavarian mountain ranges “Ober- pfälzer Wald” and “Bayerischer Wald”, and only a few publications of recent date exist concerning the insect fauna of the montane and alpine altitudes of the Bavarian Alps. Therefore in this paper remarkable records—comprising a lot of first and again findings—of Lepidoptera, Trichoptera, Neuropteroidea, Ephemeroptera, and Odonata are published.

  • Note Sur La Faune Des Lepidopteres De Zeneggen'

Silva Gabreta vol. 17 (2-3) p. 83–132 Vimperk, 2011 Buterflies and moths (Lepidoptera) of the Blanice National Nature Monument (Bohemian Forest, Czech Republic) Jan Šumpich CZ-58261 Česká Bělá 212, Czech Republic [email protected] Abstract This paper summarises data on butterflies and moths occurring in the Blanice National Nature Monument (NNM) including its buffer zone (Bohemian Forest, Šumava Protected Landscape Area, southern Bohe- mia). Most of the presented data were gathered during surveys carried out by the author in 2008–2009. Further data, spanning the period 1972–2009, were kindly provided by other lepidopterologists. In addition, all published data have also been included in the study. In 2008 the author focused mainly on wetland habitats in the Blanice River floodplain, moving in 2009 to mountain coniferous forests in the NNM’s buffer zone. In total, 710 moth species are presented in the paper together with phenological data, where known, and the exact location of their records. Predominant habitat types are characterized by the lepidop- teran communities recorded therein. High species diversity was observed in wetland habitats near the Blanice River and the occurrence of many typical wetland species was confirmed there, e.g., Sterrhopterix standfussi (Wocke, 1851), Epermenia falciformis (Haworth, 1828), Orthonama vittata (Borkhausen, 1794), or Hypenodes humidalis Doubleday, 1850. Species-rich lepidopteran fauna of mountain forests in the buff- er zone were typified by Nemapogon picarellus (Clerck, 1759), Ypsolopha nemorella (Linnaeus, 1758), Anchinia daphnella (Dennis & Schiffermüller, 1775), Caryocolum klosi (Rebel, 1917), C. cassellum (Walk- er, 1864), Epinotia pusillana (Peyerimhoff, 1863), Elophos vittarius (Thunberg, 1788), Entephria infidaria (La Harpe, 1853), Perizoma taeniatum (Stephens, 1831), Phlogophora scita (Hübner, 1790), or Xestia colli- na (Boisduval, 1840).
