Revised ICE CAPADES MINI REUNION Itinerary for WINTERLUDE (Ottawa, Canada) Revised ICE CAPADES MINI REUNION itinerary for WINTERLUDE (Ottawa, Canada) February 8th to 10th, 2008 - Official Hotel NOVOTEL (33 Nicholas Street - downtown Ottawa) Friday, February 8th 6 pm to 8 pm Meet & Greet "Welcome Cocktail Party" Hosted by Lynn Nightingale & Stephan Klovan "Gallery Bar" - off main lobby of NOVOTEL Hotel (downtown Ottawa) Dress: Casual Join us for drinks & yummy appetizers (Note: Local media will be covering this event with reporters & photographers!) 2008 WINTERLUDE "Goodie Bags" will be given out at this party! 8 pm to 11 pm Dinner "Trio Cafe" (formerly "Cafe Nicole") - next to "Gallery Bar" Excellent new menu! Wide variety of great entrees. 11 pm to 2 am Complimentary VIP admission to "Mardis Gras Party" "SUITE 34" - 34 Clarence Street, Byward Market, Ottawa Located less then a short 5 minute walk from the hotel! (This is the poshest nightclub in the National Capital!) Join us for drinks & dance the night away, with the "beautiful people"! Saturday, February 9th Morning on own to shop & explore Otttawa! 12 Noon - 2 pm Luncheon at "LE CAFE" located in the National Arts Centre Within a 5 minute walk from the NOVOTEL, this excellent restaurant is right beside the Rideau Canal and overlooks all the skaters, etc. Great lunch menu features soups, salads and light entrees. 2 pm - 4 pm Skating Party on the RIDEAU CANAL "The World's Largest Skating Rink"!!! Starts in front of the National Arts Centre at Rideau Street, right beside the "American Express Snowbowl" Bring your skates to lunch and then immediately afterwards, you can hop on the Canal for a lovely skate. It takes about 1 hour to skate the entire length of the canal to Dow's Lake and then another hour back again. So gauge yourselves accordingly! Dress warmly & bring a knapsack to put your boots in, while you skate. Don't forget cozy hats & mitts, etc! Note: There may be some local media, taking more photos of ICE CAPADES skaters on the Rideau Canal, so look pretty!!!! You won't want to miss "ICE STAR ALLEY" located at Fifth Avenue right on the Rideau Canal Skateway or the Patterson Creek section, for a picturesque skate! Make sure to also take a quick walk from the canal over to Confederation Park to view the spectacular "CRYSTAL GARDENS", featuring world-class ICE SCULPTURES! 7 pm - 9 pm Dinner "Banco" Restaurant - located on the 3rd floor of the dazzling Casino du Lac Leamy This restaurant is famous for it's sumptuous dinner & dessert buffet plus reasonable prices. Skaters can meet in the main lobby of the NOVOTEL Ottawa at 6:30 pm. We will arrange transportation to the Casino......it's just a short, 10 minute drive away and is located just across the Ottawa River, in Gatineuu, Quebec. 9 pm to 11 pm Check out the Casino du Lac Leamy GAMBLING opportunities, after dinner This huge casino features everything....... slots, black jack, baccarat, etc. Plus live entertainment in the bars. Financial Breakdown Revenues & Expenses Property Taxes vs Levies Commercial properties in the ByWard Market BIA pay millions of dollars in property taxes annually to the City of Ottawa. Property taxes DO NOT fund the BIA. 100% of property taxes go directly to the City of Ottawa paying for many City services such as: emergency services (police, fire, ambulance), road maintenance, snow removal, water service and sewers, City parks, and facilities etc… In contrast, the BIA is primarily funded through the BIA levy collected from commercial property owners. It is very important to note that the ByWard Market BIA has one of the lowest levies of all of Ottawa’s urban BIAs. This commitment to keep the levy cost minimal for business members means BIA staff need to find alternative sources of revenue to supplement the overall budget. These include sponsorships, grants, sales, and partnerships. In 2017, the ByWard Market BIA supplemented 35% of the overall operating budget through other sources of revenue (sponsorships, sales, and grants). The Board has always been committed to responsible fiscal management. Even though we are one of the busiest BIAs in the City, the ByWard Market BIA levy remains one of the lowest in the downtown core.
