    369 12 RRUGA PRIZREN-GJAKOVË Komunat e Rrahovecit dhe Prizrenit jë nga rajonet më të para që do të goditej nga mësymja e trupave Nqeveritare serbe dhe jugosllave, pas bombardimeve të NATO-s, ishin një sërë fshatrash në një segment prej afro dhjetë kilometrash përgjatë rrugës Prizren-Gjakovë. Nga Bellaçerka dhe Xërxe në veri, për në Pirane në jug, forcat qeveritare, kryesisht njësi të ushtrisë, do të bombardonin sistematikisht zonën, para se trupat speciale në terren të hynin në fshatra. Ngandonjëherë edhe me ndihmën e serbëve lokalë nga ajo krahinë, burrat në moshë për pushkë do të ndaheshin nga gratë dhe fëmijët. Nga data 24 deri më 26 mars, trupat policore dhe ato paraushtarake ekzekutuan qindra burra, për të cilët nuk ka ndonjë njoftim se kanë pasur mbrojtjen e UÇK-së. Vrasjet e kryera në Bellaçerkë dhe në Krushën e Madhe janë renditur midis gjashtë incidenteve të listës së hartuar nga Gjykata Ndërkombëtare për Krimet e Luftës në ish-Jugosllavi, në akt-akuzën e ngritur nga kjo gjykatë kundër Sllobodan Millosheviçit dhe katër zyrtarëve të tjerë të lartë qeveritarë. Intensiteti i dhunës në këtë krahinë ka një sërë shkaqesh. Së pari, është mëse e qartë që qeveria dëshironte të spastronte rajonin kufitar me Shqipërinë, me fillimin e fushatës. Kontrolli i kufirit ishte i domosdoshëm për të minimizuar depërtimin e UÇK-së nga Shqipëria, të përgatitej për një invazion të mundshëm të trupave të NATO-s nga toka, si dhe të lehtësonte “spastrimin etnik” të shqiptarëve nga krahina të tjera të Kosovës. Me spastrimin e zonës kufitare, u bë i lehtë dëbimi i shqiptarëve nga Peja, Suhareka, rajoni i Drenicës dhe nga pjesë të tjera të provincës.
