This is the season of sacraments, the into use in life. Mothers are special people and it is time in which the church seems particularly suited to fitting that we take time out to honor our mothers, welcome all those celebrating major events and thank them for their sacrifices and remember their transitions in their lives. There are lots of details to positive influence on us. attend to and I know that there has been a plethora of In the church today we are still dependent on many mothers praying, planning, and preparing for many people allowing the Lord to use them as his holy of these great events. At the church we are blessed vehicles, conduits of His grace and love. I also with some wonderful volunteers, many of them know that there are many mother figures in our mothers who have generously given their time and lives. We should give thanks to them also for what talents to make sure that all the children are ready. they have given us in their wisdom and love. 4th Sunday of Easter Many people in our lives encourage us to be prepared for the future. The doctor, banker, insurance agent, priest, and family all remind us to plan ahead, focusing on our goals of retirement, estate planning and health needs. It’s a smart idea to have your will and advanced directives finished long before you may need them.

The spiritual life needs some advance planning too. If we say that we want to follow the Lord, how will we do that? Specifically, what will be different in our lives because we believe? Will our family notice, or our co-workers, or our friends? If faith is life changing, making us better people, what actually changes? What about our families? If we are indeed a community of faith, do we pray together, practice virtue and act like the believers we are?

Spiritual planning means we take a look at where we are and choose to act on one we can change, one thing that will make us more aware of our baptismal calling to follow Jesus. To get on the right path, carry a small cross in your pocket, attend Mass during the week, or pray the rosary with your family. It takes just a few minutes to remind us of God’ Presence and choose to answer His call. James Gaffney, © 2010 Karides Lic. to St. George Publishing [email protected]
