Friday 25th August 2017 Week 2 of cycle Term 3 Vol 3 Titans Shield On Wednesday the 9th of August KHS had the privilege of hosting the Under 16’s TERM 3 Titans Shield at New Park. The Titans Shield is a nine-a-side round robin format that CALENDAR allows the top two teams to qualify for the next round. Brolga’s were injured playing netball the previous day meaning that we took the field with only eight players for the first game until a couple more players arrived. Monday 28th August First up the boys played Casino and they took full advantage of the number Year 11 Work placement differential and scored two quick tries to lead the Brolga’s 8-0 within minutes. When commences the Brolga’s finally got some ball Harry Crawter made a solid run to peg one back. Then in no time Joshua Jones made an outstanding run from the centre of the field Friday 1st September Year 11 Work placement down the left wing breaking two cover tackles and leaving all defenders in his wake to finishes score and tie things up. Not to be left out Jake O’Reilly who was excited to be finally Year 10 HSIE Excursion having a crack in the number 1 guernsey, scored a well created try to take the lead for the Brolga’s. Thursday 7th September Unfortunately with only moments to play Casino scored another try to level things up SRC Legacy badges and then made the conversion to steal the win. Farewell Year 12 Social 6pm Next up the Brolga’s played Xavier College. The game started with a try for Xavier off a Brolga defensive mistake. Jake scored his second try of the day to level things up Friday 8th September at 6-6. Then in what seemed like no time at all Xavier ran in two quick tries. To bring KEEP excursion back some pride to the score line Patrick Maddock scored a try to finish 14-10 down. Monday 11th September The last game was against Southern Cross Distance Education Centre. Southern Year 11 exams commence Cross scored first and then struggled to contain the Brolga’s. First it was Josh Jones repeating his solo effort from earlier to run the field for another classy try, then Tom Thursday 14th September Farragher got in on the act and Layne Hardy finished off for a final score of 16-4. KEEP Players player votes for the day went to Joshua Jones, Robert Uo and Harry Crawter. A special mention needs to go to Jacob O’Reilly who excelled in his first opportunity Tuesday 19th September to captain the Brolga’s, he always leads by example and looks very comfortable in Year 11 Exams finish the role. Kyogle High School August 25, 2017 Issue 13 Kyogle Mountain Bike Forest Kyogle High School would like to acknowledge the work conducted by Kyogle Mountain Bike Club and thankyou for enabling us to utilise this park for our weekly sport. Here is some information regarding the park:

Kyogle Mountain Bike Forest is your local mountain bike playground. It was established by Kyogle Track and Trail MTB Club within Boorabee State Forest with the aim to provide a recreational area for the local community. Currently there is close to 5km of purpose built mountain bike trails with lots more planned. They are free to use and all you need to ride on the trails is a safe bike, helmet and covered riding shoes. Ensure your bike is safe before heading out. Make sure your brakes work and your tyres are good to go. Also pack enough water and snacks and never ride alone. Grab your friends and family, head to the forest and have fun. Trails vary in difficulty. Green is beginner, blue is intermediate and black is advanced. Currently there are 2 beginner trails and 3 intermediate trails. Take is easy the first few times down a trail till you get comfortable. Year 12 need to check their emails for flyers, Year 10 and 11 need to check the careers noticeboard or see Mrs Riesinger for information. Essential Energy are recruiting for 2018 – you MUST have a drivers licence by the end of the year to be eligible to apply. Kyogle Council are offering apprenticeships in the local area. Don’t forget to check your local newspapers and/ or visit businesses in the area to discuss the possibility of future employment Year 12 Students need to book a time to meet with Mrs Riesinger to confirm their future options and complete any Early Entry, university, QTAC and UAC applications.
