I believe I witnessed a shift in the culture of this club as the men and women came together to support and celebrate this success and I congratulate all involved in making this happen. However, I will leave the commentary on the playing side of the club to others and restrict this report to some more of the big picture achievements and plans for our club. We made significant increases in our footprint on the Henley and Grange Memorial Oval with the completion of construction of the Playing Equipment Shed this season, joining the new Curators Shed from last season. Well done to everyone involved in these tremendous projects, especially our Secretary, Charlie Rumbelow. In addition to these facilities we invested heavily in other equipment to be able to provide quality playing and training facilities for all players across the grades. There was a heavy investment in Grounds and Maintenance this year as will be evident in the Financial Statements and detailed more thoroughly in the Secretary's and Treasurer’s Reports. We will continue to invest in providing safe and quality facilities and equipment for this club. We were ecstatic to be able to extend our lease with the Henley Football Club for what is essentially the next 9 years. We hope to further entrench our home base at Henley through some greater visibility of our club inside and outside the clubrooms in the coming years. Many thanks to Michael Broadbent, Rod Hill and our Patron Paul Caica for helping us through this process. Speaking of our Patron, I thank Paul for his outstanding leadership and support for our club during his term, particularly through the difficult merger situation. Upon his retirement from Parliament, Paul graciously set the wheels in motion for a successor to assume this role and I am pleased to announce that Matthew Cowdrey OAM, Member for Colton, has accepted this position with our club. We look forward to starting a new chapter with Matt and again thank Paul for his support of our club. Two club members this year received OAMs, with Life Member Ian Ravenscroft and Member Rex Adams being presented with their honours in June. Congratulations to both of these great supporters of our club. Some other dot points on significant achievements this season and a broad thank you to those involved: • Ongoing success of our Young Eagles Academies for boys and girls culminating in Denis Brien being shortlisted for the Westfield Local Hero Award. • The publication of a book about the history of our antecedent club, Hindmarsh CC. “All The Kings’ Men” was the culmination of years of research by Denis Brien and was supported by a grant from the City of Charles Sturt with the printing of the book being undertaken by the club.

  • Junior Records 2020
JUNIOR RECORDS (correct as at 1/4/20) West Torrens Cricket Club - Junior Records The S.A.C.A. Junior grades began with an Under 16 Schoolboys competition in the January 1948 school holidays and later became an Under 17 competition (January 1968). It reverted to Under 16 for one season 2011-12 against the wishes of the majority of Clubs. This competition was known as the SACA Schoolboys competition from 1947-48 to 1973-74, Shell Shield from 1974-75 to 2003-04 and then became the Bank SA Shield in 2004-05. Originally the Carnival was conducted over 3 weeks in a round robin form with each team playing every other team – a series of 11 matches without finals. This was later reduced to a two week tournament with teams placed in two sets or zones and playing a series of 6 matches plus a cross zone final series. The Commonwealth Bank competitions began as single Under 16 and Under 14 grades in 1978-79 and expanded to Red and White divisions in each age group in 1988-89. The Club did not field any Under 14 teams in 1982-83. No Under 16 White team was fielded in 1991-92, 1992-93 and 1996-97 nor an Under 14 White team from 1994-95 to 1996-97. The home ground for the junior teams was at the University Playing Fields at West Beach until the end of 1984-85 with a short time at the Adelaide Airport Oval. A hard wicket was put down on Kings Reserve West and used from 1985-86 until the end of 1988-89.

WOMEN’S TWENTY20 SATURDAY MELBOURNE STARS V JANUARY 2, 2016 FACT SHEET MELBOURNE RENEGADES LIBRARY Australian Women’s Domestic Twenty20 (T20) – A Brief History Victoria Spirit (4/135) defeated the New South Wales Breakers (6/118) by 17 runs in an unofficial women’s domestic T20 match which was organised by Cricket Victoria at the Richmond Cricket Ground on December 20, 2006. Victoria batted first with player-of-the-match Catherine Fitzpatrick top scoring with 42 runs off 30 balls (1 six, 4 fours). She was supported by Sarah Edwards 37 (32 balls, 1 four) and Rachael Haynes 25 (31 balls, 3 fours). In reply for NSW Lisa Sthalekar top scored with 36 (26 balls, 6 fours) supported by Kate Blackwell 30 (22 balls, 4 fours). Vic Spirit’s Clea Smith was the only multiple wicket taker of the match with figures of 2/19 off four overs. Although she went wicketless Vic Spirit’s Catherine Fitzpatrick, was the most economical bowler of the match conceding only 14 runs from her four overs. It was the tight bowling by the Victorians that contained the New South Wales batters and won the match. In November 2007 a series of five matches were played as part of a women’s interstate T20 tournament. Each state played two matches but no final was programmed. The participating teams were New South Wales, South Australia, Victoria, Queensland and Western Australia. In the 2008/09 season the women’s domestic T20 competition was expanded with two tournaments being staged. The Women’s Interstate T20 tournament consisted of a series of five matches played by the same states that had played the previous season.
