  • Old Car Festival Award Winners 2017
Old Car Festival Award Winners 2017 These award winners were selected during Old Car Festival and represent some of the best restored and ® unrestored vehicles showcased in 2017 during America’s longest-running antique car show in Greenfield Village. Vehicle Class Judging & Grand Champion Judging during Old Car Festival uses modified AACA rules. The winners in the judging competitions are almost always restored vehicles. Professional museums that collect vehicles, however, prefer to collect unrestored vehicles. The ultimate standard for museum collecting would be a vehicle with all of its original, unrestored surfaces and components in as-new condition. Although the standard is seldom obtainable, vehicles that approach it are the best expression of the standard against which cars are judged — the way they appeared and functioned when sold new from the dealer to the original owner. They are also an expression of the material culture of the time in which they were created and, hence, provide the best permanent documentation of that period. Therefore, such vehicles are much sought after by museum curators. Judges examine the authenticity of the vehicle, the workmanship of all the restoration work and the quality of maintenance performed by the owner. Then, using a 400-point judging system, they determine a first-, second-, and third-place winner in each of the 11 judging classes. From these winners, one grand champion is chosen on each day of the festival. Automobile Award - through 1908 3rd Place Participant #: 108 Year, Make & Model: 1904

The Central Texas Museum of Automotive History was founded by Dick Burdick in 1980 as a 501(c)3 non-profit educational foundation and was dedicated to the collection, restoration and preservation of historic automobiles, accessories and related memorabilia. It is over 40,000 square feet, climate controlled building and rests on approximately five acres. The collection traces the development of the automobile and its effect on the social and economic climate of much of the world. It traces the evolution from the high wheelers and steam buggies of the turn of the century through the boxy utilitarian cars of the late teens and twenties, the classic era of the late 20’s, 30’s and 40’s, the dream machines and land yachts of the 50’s, 60’s and 70’s, as well as the transition of the highly efficient aerodynamic sport and passenger cars. It is a one-of-a-kind collection that began with the first vehicle Mr. Burdick purchased in 1970 and a destination for anyone with a love for collector vehicles and the automotive industry’s glory days. dankruseclassics.com | 866·495·8111 The Richard Burdick Collection.
