Ein Song besteht aus einer Melodie und einem Text und es ist müssig, darüber zu streiten welches der wichtigere Teil ist. Ein Song ist dann gelungen, wenn Melodie und Lyrics zu einem Ganzen werden. Die Chansons des Franzosen Michel Legrand wurden in den USA ein Erfolg dank der englischen Lyrics von Marilyn und Alan Bergman und die Melodien von Tommy Wolf sind nur die Hälfte wert ohne die wunderbaren Texte von Fran Landesman. Eine Hommage an eine Songtexterin und an ein überaus poetisches Paar in Late Night Jazz.
